howard-lipson:
Howard slowly looked up from his computer as he finished editing his latest video game review. He was a little out of sorts, not entirely sure what time it was, when he’d last showered and if he managed to eat more than one meal today. He blinked at the clock on his monitor. It was a few minutes past 5pm. Deon said something about the Carnival being in town for the night and told him he’d try to drag out Archie as well. Howard sighed as he got up from his chair, took a whiff of his armpits and decided he probably needed a shower if he was ever planning to get out tonight.
After scheduling his latest video to post tomorrow morning and writing a quick email to his manager, he took a quick shower and got dressed. He figured that having a 16-hour work day was enough of an excuse to ditch his friends and maybe hibernate at home, but he had been doing enough of that lately so it was probably time for a change of scenery. Besides, it was only one night, and he had missed his friends. He drove to the venue and lined up with the rest of the crowd. He was just a few more people to the front when a hand clapped him on the shoulder. He smiled at the sight of Archie. “I’m sorry, have we met? I think you’re a little lost here buddy, the back of the line is over there.”
“That almost stung, Howard.” He laughed, dramatically clutching his heart. “I’m almost hurt.” Archie threw off the comment and pulled his friend closer to the front of the line, he wanted in and quickly. It was the first time he had ever been to an event like this and not been the centre of attention. Which was a weird feeling that he didn’t really like, but he was making an effort at least. “Have you heard from Deon?” He asked. His other friend was probably busy chasing some girl he had just met, a habit that had always annoyed him. Why chase girls when they would just come to you with enough time?
Archie looked over at his friend and narrowed his eyes. “How long have you been awake dude?”
