You know, I was thinking the exact same thing. Some of the controls seem to be hues a little too dark. [She glanced over at the variety of grey switches on the bright white console]
Adjusting them to their proper colour will make them difficult to see, however.

"Tell me, what do you think of this console? Does it seem presidential enough?"
- - - Perhaps a bit more white. [ They commented, glancing over the already bleached interior. ]
The Corsair began backing away slowly, shaking her head. This was wrong; she shouldnât be here. The corruption in the time lines around her became apparent as soon as she extended her temporal senses to examine them. It made her head hurt and hearts ache to look at it. She wasnât quite connected directly, yet she could feel a telepathic echo of the frenzy the other had described if she concentrated.
"No, no, Iâve made a mistake⊠Iâm out of sync. I canât stay here."
[ They remained silent, watching the other skitter back. They, out of anyone, knew how much the slightest variation could affect events. Their time at the Bureau had shown them that much. And now a Time Lady, from Gallifrey's prospective future, had been plopped into the middle of an already extremely unbalanced period. ]
- - - Go. If you can.Â
â& whatâs thaâ supposed tâ mean?â
I assumed that was simple enough for you. After all, you were trained on Gallifrey. Qualified enough to become a Time Lord.
I'm looking for a Mean Free Path Tracker. Or - oh, what was that phrase? Zig zag plotter I believe. Whatever it's referred to as, mine was damaged. Surely with your off planet expertise, you could point me in the right direction.

I would certain appreciate it if you stopped flailing your way around the universe, Doctor.Â
Staring at the other Gallifreyan with something approaching alarm, the Corsair was beginning to suspect sheâd landed somewhere she oughtnât be⊠again. âSorry, I have no idea what youâre talking about. I may regret asking this, but, whatâs going on?â
War. War Looms and Battle TARDISes being made every which way, sky trenches being installed, every available Time Lord put into the field. Even some Patricians are being outfitted with the Imprimature. Surely you've noticed. Bit hard to miss an entire species that you're connected to flinging itself into a collective frenzy.Â

You seem like the type to know where I can find a decent Mean Free Path Tracker replacement. Doctor.
"What reinforcements?"
- - - I thought all renegades were recalled. [ Because surely the other was a renegade. Strange clothing in addition to a Gallifreyan mind combined with no knowledge of a need for reinforcements. ] How do you not know?
That is not a cat.

[ Their typical speech begins the moment they hear the door open, a well practiced and often executed act if their lax attitude is any indication. They don't even look towards the visitor. ]
The Bureau of Possible Events is currently closed, as the vast majority of our data has been rendered irrelevant by recent - - events. We - [ Or rather, I, as Lonous themself was the only remaining Bureau worker both alive and ( relatively ) untraumatized enough to return to work after the War. ] - apologise for any inconvenience and predict that the Bureau will be available within four hundred thirty spans. If you have a specific request, voice it now and we will make every effort to get the information you require to you shortly.Â
"And yourself?" Sheâs suddenly concerned that the issue with their telepathy has left her without a proper home. She looked up from her work at the question, "Something like that. Perhaps my previous incarnations would have liked the company, but I find it all a bit too much now. This is much more enjoyable."
I still have my previous quarters. [ They have no way to get to their House, but they're more than happy to still be in the Citadel, as independent as they can be. ]
- - - [ And now came the reason behind their sudden topic switch a few microspans ago. ] - - You can stay there. Less packed than your House. There will be me, of course, but I'll remain out of your way. In exchange - - you help me get place to place.Â
A ghost of a smile appeared on her face for a microspan, but she quickly wiped it off. She certainly didnât feel naive anymore, but the comment was still appreciated. She continued on with her work silently after thatâ this incarnation didnât seem to be as fond of small talk as many of her past incarnations had been, âEffeston. I have the good fortune to have welcoming cousinsâ although I must admit that with the amount of renegades they have taken in they do seem to be a bit too welcoming at times.â
[ And for that, they were grateful. They wouldn't be nearly as content with Sehd's presence if she was still one for pointless chit chat. ] Effeston. [ They repeated with a nod. The majority of Gallifreyans had been relocated outside of the Citadel. At least for the time being. It'd been a strategic target during the War and sustained damage. They weren't entirely certain why they were surprised that the renegade was staying with her house. ] Is that why you're here? For a break?
"Weâre not going to be trapped here forever. Perhaps Iâm still naive, but I believe that somethingâs coming. This canât be all there is," Despite her words, she did have her doubts. What if they didnât get out? What if they were trapped here for their rest of their lives? She stopped herself from thinking down that route any more by doing as Lonous had ordered. These computers were, thankfully, not complicated and she was soon starting on the work.
You're still naive. [ They reassure Sehd, continuing on with their work. ] But that's all right. [ In a species with a shared connection, once panic started, it spread quickly. Best to allow it to not start at all. Spans past, and work progressed. As their senses relating to Time were undamaged, it was an easy enough matter to bring up the topic at an appropriate time: near enough to closing. ] Where have you been staying?
"Right. Thank you," She starts towards the computers, although she must admit that sheâs not entirely sure how this is going to work. Sheâs never done any work in the Bureau before, and she just hopes that itâs not too complex, "The eye of Orion. Itâs the perfect place to get through unsavoury memories."
[ That sounded like that sort of place they needed. But no. ] How do you plan to start running away again? We're trapped currently, if you haven't noticed. [ Though there was rumors of one of the Oakdown renegades being able to leave. Or at least, his disappearance had been marked. ] Sort it into broad categories of Eras first, please.
"Itâs a want," The bluntness doesnât bother her. In her eyes, Lonous has more than enough of a reason to be bluntâ they have more than enough of a reason do be anything, âIf anything, youâd be doing me a favour. I need something to occupy my time until I can run away again.â
Then stay. I need you to begin organize the digital records. [ They couldn't access them, for obvious reasons. They're still standing, unable to sit in case their chair decides to leave without them. But they've dove into their work, sorting papers, spreading them across a large surface. Spans pass until they speak again, though the topic of conversation hasn't changed. ] Where will you go?
Seth gave a small nod at the otherâs words. Her gaze dropped to the ground and for a few spans she was lost in thoughtâ thought about her deaths, thought about the Warâ before she pulled herself back out, âDo you require any other assistance? I⊠donât have much else to do.â
--- Are you asking because you want to help or because you feel you have to? [ Bluntness is a habit of theirs in this incarnation, try though they do to temper it. ] Because you've helped beyond requirement already. Don't feel obligated to stay. Even our past conversations don't require you to help now. If you don't want to stay because of any reason, go.Â
