LV FW21
OKAY SO! I reconstructed the Barcelona Pavilion around September (4 bottom drawings), so when I saw the references to Mies in LV’s FW21 Men’s Show I was so giddy. Who’re the people working exclusively as set designers for fashion shows? Some firms get commissioned for this work... Also, I depicted my environment as black void, and I see this in the set. Hehe that’s inconsequential, but I’m just geeking! :)

ASCENDING :: REFLECTING :: MERGING
Exploring the use of merging and reflecting elements to establish spatial relationships which encourage congregation and contemplation for its users.
In the larger site, water, manipulated to flow downward, contrasts the ascent of plant and human bodies. The downward flow of water works to nourish the upward growth of plant life. The binary is further solidified as these downward sloping water canals dwell between the vertical circulation ascending human bodies. This ascent of users mirrors that of the central towering tree on the site. Water, in its movement works in opposition to this general system, while in its dwelling works to interconnect and unify this general system. The user experience focuses on ascent as this merging and reflection of elements is revealed as inhabitants travel upwards. On ground level, the separateness of the distinctive geometries is apparent. But through the use of axial symmetry and planar surfaces to merge and reflect, a new condition is revealed above. Upon ascent, reflection becomes an activity for users within this space as they are interconnected and integrated within the plant and water bodies surrounding them.From below structure and users are separate in their dwelling within the site, while from above these same vessels appear to grow into one another and the user experience becomes one of joining as well, as the four ground level entrances allow for people to enter from separate regions onto this one continuous flow of circulation.
Through the act of ascending, these operations of reflecting and merging are utilized to produce experiences of contemplation and congregation which mirror the operations themselves.
I don’t draw anymore.
