Hey everyone. How’s it going?

I know I’ve been gone a while. I don’t even know who still hangs out around these parts. I’m a few weeks from 30 and I won’t lie, real adulthood has kicked my ass and I’ve let fun things like blogs and fanfic writing fall by the wayside. However, I have a question, and if anyone can help me out, it’s you guys.

I have some comfort fanfics that I revisit every so often, some more than others, and I went looking for one recently and can’t find it. It was in the Jericho fandom, featuring Bill Koehler obvs. and an OC named Sarah. I literally can’t remember the title or anything (because Bill has like 2.5 fics about him so I never really bothered to save it) but it looks like it’s been deleted.

Authors have the right to delete their stuff, and I feel like an asshole for asking, but it was a great comfort to me and if anyone knows what I’m talking about or has it downloaded, I would truly appreciate a share. I’d never, never repost it, of course. But it hurt my heart to see it gone and if I could read it again, it would make me happy.

It breaks my heart that he doesn’t think he’s attractive. Like, we all sort of make fun of ourselves for that at some point right? But you can tell when a person’s honestly joking and when it’s a genuine insecurity of theirs that they’re trying to make light of.

I won’t pretend to be an expert on any of the above, but I am a writer, and many of my followers are writers, so to you:

Please do your research. Please treat people who go through this with respect. Understand the difference between personality quirks and actual disorders and/or syndromes. Nothing ruins a story quite like the glorification of someone else’s daily hardship.

I will add that this problem persists not only with romanticization, but also plain old oversimplification. I am not clinically antisocial, but I have been accused multiple times of being so. Lemme set this straight. 

Antisocial Personality Disorder is not introversion.

Look, I will admit to you all that generally I am, mentally, in a pretty good place. I’m grateful for this. I won’t step in and try to explain to you the intricacies of ASPD as someone who doesn’t live with it. But for those out there like me who maybe don’t have personal experience to back up your character portrayal, you can still understand and acknowledge the life-altering realities of another person.

So, you writers, it’s really very simple. Do your research, ask questions, don’t make assumptions, and move forward with respect.

The phone rang on Gabe’s desk, and he sighed as he picked up the receiver, put it on a makeshift cradle that sat over the tape recorder on his desk and he hit play as he turned his chair around in time to grab a chocolate glazed custard doughnut out of the box Suzan was bringing to the break room. He sent her a wink and took a bite as the recording of his voice played. “IT department, have you tried turning it off and on again.”

He could hear the groan from the guy on the other side of his cubicle wall, just as he could hear the person on the other end of the line saying they’ll give it a try. A minute later, the he got a half ass thanks, the line went dead, and one of his other coworkers gave him a high five, so he hung the phone back up, hit rewind on the tape, and went back to his doughnut.

So, Ive got a favor to ask of y’all. 

I write, right? And I’m working on two original screenplays and a book right now, along with the beginnings of a couple fanfics because A) I found that I really like writing Lex and Co. and B) I had other fic ideas for the bang that I didn’t go with in favor of Ouroboros. But all of those projects are long as shit, and so I’m on here asking for more work. 

Oneshots help get my creative vibe going sometimes. Anybody got a wish for a short fic featuring one of Rich’s characters? Maybe fluff, angst, hurt/comfort, character study--almost anything. I will tell you, I’m not that awesome at overt lovey-dovey stuff and I’m not about to write porn, but anything else is good. (Also, I haven’t seen some of the stuff Rich has been in--don’t tell anybody--but I’ll try)

As I said, I do have stuff that I really should be working on instead, but I’m tired and writer’s block is a thing, so here we are. I make no promises about deadlines, and I think I’m going to leave the window open for just one day for asks. Send ‘em in :)
