On this Day 100 years ago, the first world war ended
A conflict that broke the world, shattered it to usher in the modern era we know

They were told it would be a brisk walk across the field after everything would be obliterated by their constant heavy guns firing on the enemy Trenches for days on end
But this was hell on earth. The Smell of blood, sweat and sulfur rich in the air as ponies screamed in agony with hungry machine gun fire claimed more fodder for the meat grinder
Limestone and Marble were assigned to the same battalion when they enlisted. The ministry of war believe composing battalions of villages would bolster a sense of comradery. Their sisters Pinkie and Maud were already fighting in the war and the two younger sisters were eager to do their part and duty to Equestria.
But nothing could have prepared them for this..... blood bath
They thought themselves very luck to have made it into the enemy positions to at least have some cover, but the enemy had pre-aimed their guns to their lines. The first wave of shells came shrieking in the air at their section of the trench. One shell landed nearby Marble, sending her flying through the air.
Limestone cried out to her sister, dropping her rifle rushing to pick up the bleeding crumpled body of her precious little sister. She was known as a very strong pony at home, a real firecracker of a mare. But the sight of marble sputtering up blood, bleeding out from multiple lacerations and her right leg that took the brunt of the explosion, it was too much for the poor young mare. She couldn't do anything but scream in anguish seeing her sister like this. She promised her parents she'd keep her safe, she had no right to be here! Why was she so stupid to have signed up for this forsaken hell!
Her sister with a single tear running down her dirt and blood caked cheek still in shock, just staring blankly up in the air "I'm sorry....."
"MARBLE! MARBLE!!!! YOU CAN'T DIE! PLEASE DON'T LEAVE ME!!!"
The whistle for the retreat came, but Limestone didn't hear it, all she could do was cry and hold her sister tightly screaming for a medic that would never come....

Not much of a writer, but I wanted to try at it
Sorry for such heavy handed feels, I just really wanted to try and make as big of an impact as I could for such an important date today
