“Hey…” Tristan said, moving to place his hands on his sister’s shoulders, “You should know by now that the only thing that concerns me is that you’re happy and healthy. Who you love isn’t a big deal to me as long as they’re good to you. Okay?” He paused and chuckled, “Also technically speaking, I’m the only one of our siblings that definitely knows what it’s like to love girls,” He joked.

Arden let out a small laugh. “I guess you’re right. Just uh, don’t tell the others, okay? I’m still trying to figure out how to tell them.”

“Oh,” Tristan said, “So what you’re saying is I have to worry about a girl breaking your heart?” He asked, smiling in a reassuring manner, “How come you never told me before?”

Arden bowed her head and shrugged. “I don’t know. I was scared that you wouldn’t understand or something. I don’t know.”

“Oh my god, I didn’t even think about that- gross.” Aspen said while making a face. “How about we just close our eyes and point? Whoever you land on, you have to go talk to them.” 

“That sounds like quite a dangerous game.”

“Oh really? That’s rare,” she laughed lightly in surprise. “But I can’t blame you, chocolate is superior.”

“Well, my whole life is kind of rare.”

“Yeah, comes with the territory of being one of four,” she replied.

“What is your thing?” Wes asked, “I can try and help you come up with tailored pick up lines, if you want. I’ve seen just about every rom com that’s ever been made.”

“Nature, dancing, air maybe?” Arden replied and then shrugged.

Aspen make a ‘tsk’ sound as she looked around the room, “How do you feel about the lumberjack style?” 

“Absolutely not. That reminds me of Tris, and I don’t want to date my sibling.”

“I always think I can eat these forever but when I hit like three I start feeling like I could die,” Merinda admitted as she popped a marshmallow in her mouth. “Want this next one?” she asked, nodding towards the one roasting over the fire.

“Oh, no, no, I did not sign up to die tonight.” Aspen spoke quickly as she watched the creature emerge in the distance. “What is that?” 

“Please, don’t be dramatic,” Arden replied. “I’m sure it’s nothing, I’m sure it won’t even bother us.”

“I don’t think they could have picked a better day for this,” Lucinda mused as she readjusted herself more comfortably on her towel. “Are you prepared to be here all day? Because I certainly am ready to set up shop for the rest of the day.” 

“As long as the sun’s out, I’m ready to stay out all day.”

“I can easily set you up with someone, come on, give me details, what do you like?” 

This is the perfect chance. Arden just had to tell Aspen that she liked girls. She wanted to tell her, but then she changed her mind last minute and replied with, “I don’t think I really have a type.”

Wes smiled, recounting his first interaction with Alexa. “I was wondering if you like chemistry, because I have had my ion you for some time.” He paused, “I’m a techie, for context.”

Arden shook her head slightly at the pick up line. “Well I’m not surprised that pick up line came from a techie’s mouth. Though I don’t think it would make sense coming from me, considering science is totally not my thing.”

“I mean, it’s painful, but we were training, it’s not like she did it on purpose.”

“Wait what?” Tristan asked, brow furrowed, “What do you mean by that?”

“I uh, probably,” Arden started, to try and tell her brother. She knew he’d be fine with it, but part of her was still scared. “I like girls?”

“I may not hate them but I don’t need to know the detail.”

“You’re so lame,” Arden teased. “Besides uh, you won’t have to worry about any boy breaking my heart.”

“Uh, I’d beg to differ,” Wes countered. “I used one on my ex. It was the most cheesy thing I think I’ve ever said in my life, but it worked.”

Arden raised her eyebrows. “What one was it?”
