‘The softest girl you’ve ever seen but she has to make tough decisions’
Sooo
Hello! If you still need a mod for the strattland group, I'm available! I'm in my 20s
hiii you have been made a mod hehe!! thank you so much :)
THE TESTAMENTS FINALE HAD ME SCREAMING AND CRYING ALL AT ONCE OH MY GODDDDD I CANT WAIT FOR SEASON TWO
i finished rewatching killing eve the other day and i’m not even exaggerating when i say rewatching it was genuinely painful for me. i can’t even begin to explain how much villaneve mean to me. i love this show so bad.
I just kept thinking about the first flashback Ryland have of his crewmates-especially Yao's, because Yao is the first person he remembered. (I know his students can count as firsts but like as a person or individual, I think it was Yao)
It was his first flashback of other people he remembered. And upon seeing photos of Yao and Ilyukhina, he remembered being associated with them and how they looked like.
But what's interesting was when he remembered Yao first, there is also STRATT in that memory and him smiling as he stands beside her. This was even before he remembered who she was.
He had pictures of Yao and Ilyukhina so he remembered how they looked like yet he had NO pictures of Stratt. Yet in that first flash, he remembered what Stratt looked like vividly. (He remembered Carl's name but not his face until he had a flashback of their first meeting). He remembered her even without the memory of their first meeting. She was just there with him randomly in his first memory of someone else.
And what made that more interesting was that in the next sequence, after that flashback, he was seen dancing with a mop with RED HAIR, the same color as Stratt's hair. I mean that could've been the only mop available there, sure, yet how odd right?
Ryan said the directors were the one who made it for him so he won't be lonely filming those alone scenes of Grace in space (She's named, yes it's a SHE, Moppy Ringwald haha). It was a conscious decision of the directors to chose that mop when they could've settle with a plain normal common mop with white hair.
I love how this TikTok commentor pointed this out about the mop thing.
And Ryland could have been just chilling with the mop and all yet he DANCED with it and held it close to him, hugged it, a mop that has Eva Stratt's hair. If that doesn't convey how his subconscious remembers how he feels about Stratt, I don't know what that's suppose to mean.
Also something else: this memory was of Yao and there was no reason to then shift the focus to him and Stratt. It could have just been a flashback with him and Yao to show they knew each other. Stratt didn't have to be there at all, and then to follow it up with him dancing with a mop, with red hair of all colours???
Rocky introducing Grace to other Eridians like
Thinking of how the wider fandom perception of Eva Stratt mirrors the fate she knew she would receive in canon: overlooked, if not condemned, scorned, or worse.
No self-pity at all when she called herself the world's whipping boy; simply another correct assessment from a woman who has never made a wrong call in her tenure as leader (#fact).
On the upside that means Stratt's supporters in canon must also be dedicated (and insane). Which would explain her jailbreak, container ship, and continued (if covert) hand in saving the world. I think as years pass and governments start to breakdown she becomes a genuine figure of counterculture, although opinions of the wider public remain divided. Meaning: clandestine support from a few donors; a blind eye turned to a sighting of her ship. However, on the small scale, this also means... fandom. A cult of personality.
There are probably teenagers making edits of Stratt in-universe out of Petrova Taskforce PR and trial footage. They're probably powerscaling her with other world leaders. Do you think Stratt eventually gets to know what "aurafarming" means. Do you think there are kpop-style relationship analysis style videos on her and Grace ESPECIALLY post-Beetles return. Do you think there are people parasocial over the fact that Dr. Captain Ryland Grace gave her a figure of himself from another planet. There'd be Wikipedia editors documenting the long-term implications of every crime she has been charged with (the criticism, legacy and public image, and the personal life subsections of her page get a lot of edits and foot traffic); heated debates over her utilitarianism in university lecture halls all over the world. There'd be children who would grow up to idolize her, and conspiracy theorists who'll earn a living by dissecting every detail of her leadership.
Post-astrophage crisis (for the sake of my mental well-being), I choose to believe that Stratt receives some measure of recognition. Nothing commensurate with her actual impact (:((), but at the very least acknowledgement that without her billions more would be lost. Pardons as well. Not from every country, but enough so she no longer has to live as a fugitive. I hope at the end of her life she gets to live on solid land and see the return of spring. I hope a couple of people shake her hand in the street over the years.
Only when her death comes to pass do the honors roll in. Posthumous recognition. Museum exhibits, an NGO named after her; soon, a research center, a street here and there; farther into the future, some sort of spacecraft; perhaps a space station to orbit the planet she so loved, or an envoy to Erid. It's easy to honor a woman who can no longer challenge authority or disrupt the status quo. She's dead, so she's no longer any trouble at all. It's easier to reconcile choices with results in hindsight.
I think Stratt will be in history books for the rest of time. Whether praised or decried, she'll be there. The lynchpin of the longest shot in the universe.
project hail mary eva stratt brain rot is so real. like, at baikonur she checked he was ok before she checked the crew. he's the only one who can tell her to get off a power trip and she actually listens. “there’s more to him than that.” she discusses major decisions with him even though she’d already made up her mind because he gives her emotional security. he's her science lapdog. everyone thinks they’re fucking. “you are, somehow, special to ms. stratt.” she makes sure he’s in every major strategical meeting BEFORE she knows he's coma resistant, then lies to him about it when trying to gaslight gatekeep girlboss him into doing the right thing. she confesses her worst fears to him while he sits in the jail cell she put him in. she knew how he took his coffee and made sure it was programmed into the ship she sentenced him to death on.
i saw someone on reddit say that even though strattland aren’t actually canon (they are to me) ryan and sandra’s chemistry making even the audience think there was something romantic worked so well because it showed us what the phm crew saw and why they all thought strattland were screwing 😭
thinking about grace and stratt dreaming and thinking about each other knowing they will never see each other again and if grace ever decided to come back to earth, stratt would probably be gone. they make me feel physically ill.
I couldn't reply to your strattland playlist post which is a shame bcus my playlist is looong but HAD to share the lethal temptress by the mendoza line
