I chose the dutch style of Baroque art. To create this photo I took a un ripe lemon from a tree in my backyard, placed it on a countertop, and used my camera too take a photo. I then used preview to make the outside edges of the picture darker.
For my museum/gallery review I visited the Cantor Arts Center. In that museum, I went to the Do Ho Suh exhibit. The featured art at this exhibit are the chandelier, wallpaper, and the colorful screen. The work on display are the Who Am We? (wallpaper)(2000), the Screen (screen)(2005), and the Cause and Effect (chandelier)(2007). The subject matter of this exhibit was to focus on migration and transnational identity. I liked this exhibit because from far away the pieces were beautiful and simple, but after you get a closer look you realize how meaningful each piece is. Although, there is one thing that I didn’t like about this exhibit was that it was very small, it only contained 3 pieces of art.
For example, from far away the screen just looks like a wall of a colorful patterns, but when you get a closer look at the screen you see that the pattern, is people, and that every person on the screen is different. When I look at the screen I see that the people are also holding one another up, which created a symmetrical pattern for the screen.
In conclusion, I enjoyed this exhibit a lot and would definitely recommend for others to go there as well. This exhibit made me think a lot about how people support each other, how it doesn’t matter their gender, their race, or their background. I would summarize the exhibit as a mental awakening.
This is my tomb drawing, the first scene is me and dance team practicing, this is an important moment because I’ve been dancing for 12 years and it is important for me to become a better dancer. The second story is me infront off bunch of little kids, that scene is important because I love young kids and want to become a teacher. The last scene is on my writing my book, I’ve been working on it for about three years and it is almost done, it’s important because it contains my memories and my hard work. I would like to be buried with my dance shoes, my book, and this one paper airplane that this little kid made for at a summer camp(that’s when I decided to become a teacher).
Above is my sculpture of a friendship bracelet. Every year, during the summer I go to a camp, at these camps I give and receive these bracelets. I’ve been collecting them for years and have a large collection of them. They have been given to me by many different people. Some from friends I’ve had for years, some from people I knew for a week. But each one of my bracelets holds a memory of a friend.
My Personal Definition of Art
What is art?
To me, art is whatever the artist makes it. It can be photography, paintings, drawings, or coloring, it’s all art. Art is someone’s vision or interpretation of someone or something. The artists decides whether or not it is art, not people who judge. What I think makes something art is something that can represent or mean something in whatever form it comes.
