An art school semester wrap-up! This is just for painting class

I really wanted to step up this semester, though *of couse* I got burnt out halfway through. I wanted to play with light, contrast and saturation. I think I rlly did develop on that a lot.

The feedback I got was that one painting is way different from the other and that "it looks like many different artists" :/ So I guess next semester I gotta find a way to make the paintings look somewhat similar. I was never too concerned with developing a style tbh. I had one before art school but then I started trying realism, and then different cartoony styles and now I just pick the style along with the piece.

I rlly wish I could find a famous painter to pretend to be inspired by so my teachers would get off my back, but sadly I'm inspired by random unknown surrealists, children's book illustrators I'd have to open instagram to remember the name, images I come across on pinterest and my friends' art. Oopsie.

Now I'll see if I can maybe draw for fun again and get the pressure off my hobby -As I say whenever school break comes along. Wish me luck fellas

I think I'll call it "memento mori"

This painting comes from my own anxiety at having to come up with an idea for a painting :v. I struggle a lot with perfectionism and executive dysfunction when starting a painting. I want to make The Painting of all time, I want to change the world with my 5th semester art school assignment and nothing less will suffice. And truthfully my own art hasn't been pleasing me lately. I also worry I might have Something™ going on, I feel like I don't feel things like I used to. I've been feeling The Numbness for a few years now, I thought it was burnout but idk anymore. It impacts art most of all, I rarelly feel anything when looking at a beautiful painting or image anymore, so it's difficult to know what vibes I want my painting to give if I can't. Feel. The Vibes. Has any artist dealt with that?

Still, I've managed to make the painting process for this quite satisfying. I wrote myself a step by step guide of How To Paint The Painting, so my executive dysfunction won't bother me that much. I've been having to break down a lot of tasks lately.

I like the despair in his eyes so far. This semester I want to really focus on the visuals of my paintings, especially the lighting and contrast. I'm specifically targeting the dark academia aesthetic with this one so stay tuned and keep following human artists <3

Despair seems to have a different personality in the TV show, but we don't get to see much of it. She looks nice and kinda cozy. They made her a comfort character instead of a... discomfort character :v They gave her a Death-like vibe of "you don't like my gift but I'm holding your hand while you go through it". It's not faithful but I don't hate it. I just wish they hadn't felt the need to make her prettier at the same times as making her sympathetic. Justice for ugly women fr.

Tbh, I can't quite put my finger on Despair's comic personality either :v what do yall make of her character?

"Alice and the Mad Hatter"

I've finally finished it!! It took more than 20 hours of work, (and some 2 years of procrastination)

This piece is a coming of age, gender, and perhaps neurotype, a point where past and future meet. Young lost Alice grows to be Hatter, one who knows his way through wonderland's unpredictable whims. And he knows he couldn't exist without her, her curiosity which brought him here. The two meet at a crossroads in Wonderland's garden, but they're never truly apart.
