My cat knows when I should stay in bed and screams at me until I do and then sits on me so I don't get back up. If I do get up she follows me and screams until I sit down again

She knows by sniffing my mouth first. Which she does at least once a day

When I am struggling to eat she'll do her "I need food" act even when her food is full until I eat

so with neurotypical people, i think theres a very strong tendency towards decreasing marginal utility because they value novelty very highly. but in autist land, novelty is a sort of explicitly negative good. novel things are new, and new is very stressful. so the first time we eat/try/do something is when its at its worst becuase that is the least familiar with it we will ever be. but that makes it so that repetitive behavior is quite nice because, yes, that first time was kind of awful, but the second time we're only getting better, and the third time is an old friend and the fifth time is basically just pornography. and the sixth time! ohhohohoh the sixth time.

i will not describe the sixth time but it is scandalous

that being said: yes, in theory, even autists start to run into decreasing marginal gains. we are not infinite paperclip maximizers. but if a neurotypical might enjoy something a little bit less every time they consume it, starting from the first, im generally still getting warmed up by my seventh. there is a period of increasing marginal gain per unit consumed that frankly lends itself frighteningly well to binge behavior.

Do any of my followers live or know someone in Oakland, CA who’s looking for a dog? Our friend Richard and his wife just had a baby and they’ve tried so hard but the new baby and dog are just not compatible.

He’s about nine, very high energy and affectionate. Not a good fit with kids or cats as he’s pretty high prey drive but very friendly and well socialized otherwise.
