And the thing about my cat is that even when she's mean, she's still nice!! My husband's aunt came in and scooped her up, which was a big No for her. She gave his aunt approximately one light smack on the nose, claws completely sheathed. I've never heard her hiss. She does bite my husband, but it's roughhousing/play. Even at the vet!! Apparently once they're done with examinations, she's perfectly content to sit on the lap of whoever is doing charting lol.

Something random that pisses me off even years later is an ex friend of mine who would call my cat a cunt and say that she was "glaring" at her whenever she came over. "She's so smug, she looks like such a bitch." And my cat would just be squinting her eyes and purring.

I recommend everyone research and learn about open source intelligence gathering/private investigation techniques, and how you can use it to protect yourself in this current political climate

How easy is it for you to gather information on your oppressors or people in extremist organizations? How can you take the lessons from that to make yourself harder for them to get intel on you?

You can never be completely hidden in this era with smart devices and social media but you can be more difficult to be targeted.

-We have all heard to never reuse passwords for multiple accounts but we should also never have the same user name across all social media platforms.

-never use your legal name as a user name/profile name when possible.

-dont have your email address match any user name.

-use the strictest privacy settings for each account possible.

-go through old posts/photos in your accounts and delete the ones you dont care about or want public anymore.

-do not post photos unless the exif data is stripped. This data shares information about your location and device. You can strip that data by either screenshotting a photo you want to post and deleting the original or using an exif stripping app or website.

-look yourself up online and if you show up in sites like spokeo or peoplefinder, request to be removed. I have never had one turn me down after i mention its to protect myself from a former abuser. You can still show up as related to someone else too if you dont have your relatives also request to be removed.

-you or you and friends you trust can get and share a post office box in case you need to get stuff mailed to you or placed in it for pickup so that your parents or abusive partner does not get your mail. Bonus to this is not needing to change your address for a lot of things when you are able to move out!

-your old cell phone that isnt worth selling could be turned into a burner phone for someone in need! Reset to factory settings and replace SIM card.

-VPN for your phone is a good idea too. I used to have a good one but now it sucks outside of a laptop and I need a new one specifically for my phone.

Every time amber heard gets brought up as the butt of a joke I am obviously expected to agree with and accept, I face this internal battle. Did you ever consider that the inundation of reels and other short form videos during that joke of a trial, was by design? Did you know I don’t much use Facebook, or YouTube, but whether logged out or logged in, all my suggestions were cruelly mocking her?? Did you know about the Saudi money? Did you know we all have a predisposition to savage women? Did you know we are all excited when we have an excuse to direct misogyny towards a rationalized target? Did you know expressing misogyny is conditioned to inherently feel good? Did you ever wonder if you fell for a scheme on a scale beyond the comprehension of the ordinary individual, within scope, expense, and effort? Nah she’s probably just a bitch.

What's the first "big news story" you remember from when you were a kid?

It's something I love to ask mixed-aged groups sometimes because I think it's really interesting to see the responses. I've gotten answers from the Olympics of [whatever year] to Watergate to more recent stuff from my niblings.

My first news thing I remember is the OJ Simpson trial. I vaguely remember watching the news with my grandparents before that, but that's the first story I remember, in part because my second grade teacher had us go play so she could watch the verdict 😂
