Thinking about all the jokes people make about Janka being scared of their dynamic getting "soft". Like hehe haha but also, I really think they would actually be off put by things shifting like that.

The control of the situation is no longer theirs. Before, it was violent on their own terms. They used that as control. There was a distance between their feelings and their actions. But when you're around each other for so long, you'll still learn each other. Grow a familiarity. A *fondness*.

And that *scares* them. It's scary when things move to something fond, knowing, affection in some odd, sickening way. That knowing is out of their control. It's a loss of that carefully constructed separation and illusion if absolute control.
