Episode 1: Flight of the Raven is now out. This chapter is a little under 7,000 words. It will be the set for the Community Driven side. And if you guys voted for AO3 I will try to release one once a month.
Preview: It has been two years since the end of the One Year War. People have seemingly returned to their old habits, to their old routines without the worry of an enemy bombardment or invasion. It was peaceful for the first time in what felt like forever, or at least that is what people thought. In reality, conflict was ever brewing beneath the surface as tensions smoulder beneath the ashes of the finished war.
Near a small city on the coast of Europe, a large transport plane landed a few miles away from the city. The plane was decently large, similar to the Medea-class cargo planes, though it was a newer model. Inside the plane, a man sat against the wall of the cargo hold, waiting for the hatch to open. The man had an athletic build, with moderate length black hair; his face was angular with a small scar on his cheek; he wore a slightly armored jumpsuit with a black jacket over it. The man was next to what seemed to be a black mobile suit -though it was on the shorter side being only 10 meters tall.
The plane was empty, minus the man who began to tap his foot impatiently. He crossed his arms staring at the hatch to open up already. Then it finally happened, the hatch began to open with a loud hiss as sunlight beamed through. The man finally sighed, muttering something under his breath. He pushed himself off the wall and walked over to the hatch as it completely opened to the world. The man stared out at the sky, using his hand to block the sun's harsh glare. The man smiled when he saw the blue skies and white clouds.
The man walked out onto the hatch onto the soft green grass. The hatch behind him closed as the engines of the plane began firing out. His hair and jacket blew wildly. The plane rose up into the sky leaving the man, who paid no mind to it.
“It’s been so long since I've seen the sun,” the man muttered to himself with a quiet chuckle. "Ain't it beautiful."
The man began to walk toward the city, which sat on the horizon. As he walked forward a crackle pierced his right ear. The man flinched a bit, as he almost forgot he had an earpiece to begin with. The man sighed pressing his finger against the ear piece.
“Raven, remember that you are simply here to convince and protect the target, if anything happens do not intervene unless its to achieve one of your primary directives,” a feminine voice spoke into his ear.
The voice was almost robotic, with its inflections never quite sounding right. Though the man paid little mind to, as he was more concerned with what the woman called him.
“How many times must I tell you to not call me Raven, Lana. It's not my name,” he snapped.
The voice now named Lana didn’t respond for a moment, allowing the man to let down his guard. He kept walking, putting his hands in his pockets as he moved forward. Then his radio cracked once again.
“Goddamnit,” he muttered, flinching at the sound once again.
“That is what I am required to call you, Raven, for you have yet to register a callsign at the Nest. So until then your name is your job title,” Lana paused letting out a small sigh. “ Anyhow, do you have the letter?”
The man dug in his pockets and pulled out an envelope. His blue eyes stared at it for a moment.
“Yeah, I got it,” he huffed, shoving back into his pocket.
“Good, just give it to her if she still refuses and it should be a mission accomplished,” Lana stated. “I’ll keep the Iron Dove nearby to drop off the Annihilator if things go south.”
