Heās never found the modern gear, from simple, short t-shirts to cardigan shorts, to be his style, anyway. His appearance reduces into something plain and painfully monotone, whenever heās tried; and though he keeps a set of modern-day apparel at home (upon Oliviaās request), the last time heās touched it is when he put it in the closet to begin with. Plus, from his observations, it isnāt uncommon to dress in the clothes that the citizens had arrived in.
As the two take a seat at a nearby table, Henry wraps his hands around the hot, piping cup of hot chocolate he has set before him; to him, the scalding temperature of the mug is but a dull warmth against his palms (Surely, there is something absurdly wrong about this?), and he taps thoughtfully against the clay exterior, humming a soft 'hmm'. Itās odd, for Inigo to inquire of him of his experiences, but he answers anyway, his tone akin to that of an excited child.Ā "A few months ago⦠there were these monsters, in the city. Of course, if you didnāt dodge them fast enough, youād die! Youād get ripped to shreds, and there was blood everywhere. Thatās why it was so funā¦ā
Oliviaās name lingers on his tongue as heās a second away from launching into specifics, of how he saved her (ran away to the next sector, more or less, it doesnāt make for a very interesting story),Ā until Inigo speaks up once more.
Ah, there we go, thatās the son he knows and loves.
"Oh, you just slap a certain hex on them⦠so they canāt look at anyone else! We had those, back in Plegia. I could teach you, if you want."Ā he responds, with a smile. Heās partly delighted that Inigo asks, spilling forth another two-sentence excerpt about his homeland. But his expression falls when he remembers that magic isnāt so easily accessible to him anymore, and his lips twist into a frustrated pout. "Aw, I forgot - the scientists took our tomes away. You donāt suppose that youāve got any powers on you, right? Any magicā¦?"
"Monsters...? You don't say..."Ā Inigo chuckles, somewhat nervously.Ā "Nothing like the Risen, I hope...?"
[Ā Inigo hides his smile with the rim of his mug, listening to Henry's delighted account of what sounds like utter bloodshed. Naturally. It always was like Inigo's father to get so worked up about such gruesome matters as these. Sometimes, Inigo wonders exactlyĀ howĀ a man like this could be his father. They were hardly alike.Ā ]
[Ā Still, Henry's rant stirs a familiar feeling of affection in Inigo's middle -- especially when Henry provides some (admittedly horrible) romantic advice for his son.Ā ]
"Father, youĀ knowĀ I'm not a mage. Just a sellsword."Ā And a dancer. Inigo's own interior addition makes him blush, so he coughs to cover it and shrugs, smirking in a devil-may-care manner.Ā
"So I'm afraid your method of courtship might, erm...Well, it's lucky, really, that I have such a handsome face and charming manner. I can thank you for that, I suppose."
[Ā He taps his finger on the edge of the table and smiles at a waitress as she passes by.Ā ]
"I do hope the maidens in these parts are more, ah...receptiveĀ to my charm. This might come as a shock to you, Father, but I'm afraid I didn't have much luck with most ladies back home."
[Ā As if anyone is surprised about that.Ā ]

Makoto had never thought himself particularly good looking or fit. Compared to Haru or Rei, even Rin was what he would consider more of the āidealā, but that was mostly because Makoto had always seen himself as that small, soft-spoken child he still often felt like when dealing with others. His self esteem was not nearly as high as it perhaps should be, and as a direct result he could not view himself how others did. So when receiving such a pointed slew of comments the darker haired boy simply stared with a confused expression for a moment before forcing himself to laugh it off.
"I wouldnāt worry about things like that, " he said in direct response to the comment about stealing women from Inigo. It wasnāt as though that was ever a thing that was going to happen anyway.
But before they really had much chance to talk about how ridiculous a notion it was that Makoto would do anything even remotely similar to cockblocking Inigo the boy ran off, leaving the green eyed boy to stand there blankly waiting for his return. In the mean time, he supposed, he could hop in the pool and waste some time so it was a bit less awkward when Inigo eventually returned.
He probably should have been a bit more surprised when the white haired man came back in a swimsuit unusually similar to his own, but instead he simply gave a warm smile.
"Well why donāt you jump in and we can see how well you can swim to start with?"
"Erm...Okay..."Ā
[Ā Inigo shuffled somewhat uncomfortably, suddenly very aware of the fact that Makoto was watching him. It wasn't exactly like he wasĀ embarrassed; after all, he really had no reason to be. Makoto knew he was a beginner.Ā ]
[Ā Still, as Inigo dove somewhat clumsily into the pool and surfaced again, passing a hand through his sopping hair, he found himself wishing the other boy wasn'tĀ lookingĀ at him. He felt sloppy and stupid and graceless, which was...unusual, to say the least, for a dancer and a swordsman like himself.Ā ]
[Ā Even more unusual was this level of self-consciousness. He dipped his lips and chin briefly under the water, kicking his feet to keep himself afloat. When he popped back above the surface, he gave Makoto what he hoped was a playful, winning smirk.Ā ]
"Why don't you join me, so I can show you what I've got?"
[Ā That sounded...different from how he meant it.Ā ]

"What am I hearing? I donāt want to hear this! Iām not hearing this!"
"If we keep going, eventually weāll get somewhere! Probably an airing cupboard. I seem to wind up in those a lot."
"I canāt believe I wore this! Maker, what was I thinking?"
"Youāre telling me you never gave your blade the olā spit shine?"
"Wait⦠What are you talking about?"
"Letās see. Do I respond well to threats? I donāt think I do."
"Shall we end this quickly?"
"You have not paid for your crime yet."
"Whoās laughing now, huh?"
"You are the last ofĀ nothing. This is pointlessā¦Ā youāve lost."
"I know your game. No shadows. No lies. Just you and me."
"Do you have any idea whatās at stake here?"
"The hate you inspire is unfortunate."
"You better have a good reason for bothering me."

"Not listening! La la-la la la!"

He senses the startle in Inigoās presenceā and makes a note in the back of his cluttered mind not to do that again. Despite his surprise, the embrace had felt all too foreign to him, clumsy in his attempt. But a discussion with Olivia a few weeks prior had led to the conclusion that the best way to greet their son, if he were to appear before them once more, would be a familial-type of greeting (one defined by a hug and a warm (warm?) embrace, which had felt gawky and weird to Henry, personally, but if it made Olivia happy, he wanted to try his best!).
Henry is quick to detangle himself from Inigoās frame, a bit jerkily, in his rapid haste, adjusting the cape around his shoulders afterwards. As Inigo pauses, however, glancing at his father before glancing away once more, Henryās head tips to the side, in mild amusement as his pale gaze observes the silence before him.
āYeah, of course!ā He nods his head, in compliance with Inigoās suggestion, beaming in the latterās direction, and continues in a gentle tone, turning on his heel to begin leading the two down the sidewalk.Ā āYou havenāt been around the entire city yet, have you? Thereās a good coffeeshop, hmm, over⦠Ah, there! I visited it a couple of days ago, and met the nicest crowā¦ā
Giving in to his tendency to ramble about these particular topics, he does his best to serve as a makeshift tour guide, waiting for Inigo to point out landmarks that he is or isnāt familiar with already.
[ Inigo follows his father from a comfortable distance, still feeling unbelievably giddy at the sight of him. They're here. His parents areĀ bothĀ here. And it seems like one or two friends might be around as well; this place really isn't as bad as Inigo believed it to be when he first arrived.Ā ]
[Ā He follows Henry into a coffee shop, sitting down at a table after ordering some bizarre kind of tea. This world is certainlyĀ unusual.Ā The buildings and vehicles and customs and clothing feel so...futuristic, for lack of a better world. Still, it's nice to see Henry is still dressed in his head-to-toe Plegian garb; it's a comfort to Inigo in this strange land.Ā ]
"So, Father."Ā Inigo takes a sip of his tea. Not too bad. Not like they brew it at home, but no matter.Ā "Tell me about this place. It seems as though you've been here for quite some time; you must have had some interesting experiences to pass on, no?"Ā
[Ā Inigo grins, unable to stop himself from voicing the inevitable.Ā ]
"I don't suppose you can give your son any useful tips about wooing the ladies in this strange land, can you?"
. yokinasĀ started following you
[ Inigo's typical flirtatious monologue is halted when he fully takes in the girl's appearance. First of all, she looks quite young, much too young for him; second of all, she has the most incredible hair he's ever seen.Ā ]
"Milady...forgive me, but might I ask where you are from? I've never seen a maiden with eyes like yours."
[Ā That sounds like an awful pickup line, but it's true. He has never seen a girl with eyes that shine like kaleidoscopic flowers, petals crafted from multicolored crystals. She is an unusual-looking child, to be sure.Ā ]

Makoto waved as the white haired boy approached, glad he finally arrived. After all, the darker haired young man was about to think that he had been stood up, a depressing thought given how all his friends were currently off doing their things without him.
He tried to manage a smile at the story, although clearly he was not overly impressed with the content of it. Still, what mattered was that he was here and enthusiastic. That was the entire point, right?
"Donāt worry about it, we can begin. The poolās right inside. Iā¦" a pause, looking at Inigo still dressed in his typical armor. "I hope you brought a swimsuit?" He asked, sounding slightly concerned. He hadnāt thought to inform his friend, it seemed like common sense.
Walking into the pool area Makoto pulled off his shirt and stepped out of the pants he had put on over his swim suit, a black and green number eerily similar to the one he had back at Iwatobi.
[ A swim...suit? Inigo frowned, momentarily concerned by Makoto's remark. Before he could open his mouth to ask, however, Makoto stepped toward the pool and peeled off his shirt, showcasing a ridiculous display of muscles. Inigo swallowed.Ā ]
"Gods, Makoto, I surmised you might be competition with the ladies, but..."Ā He gestured uselessly with his hands.Ā "Standing next to you, I stand absolutely no chance! Not that I mind,"Ā he added, chuckling sheepishly.Ā "Like I said, we're friends, not rivals, right? I suppose I'll have to resign myself to the fact that I shall forever stand in your shadow while we're together."
[Ā When Makoto stepped out of his pants, however, Inigo could see what he meant by "swim suit." The tight-fitting black garment resembled Makoto's underthings: snug, skin-tight and thick.Ā ]
"Well,Ā thatĀ certainly leaves little to the imagination!"Ā Inigo laughed nervously.Ā "Er...as it happens, I am wearingĀ somethingĀ similar, but...it's a bit shorter than yours. And I'm not entirely sure it's fit for swimming."
[Ā Somewhat self-consciously, Inigo jogged off to the locker room to strip himself of his armor, his thoughts swimming. He had always considered himself to be a relatively well-built man, but Makoto put him to shame. He stepped out of his armor and put it aside, examining his lean, scarred back in the mirror, chewing his lip. Not nearly as many muscles as the other boy. Pity. He would simply have to try harder.Ā ]
[Ā His ears perked up at a sound from the far end of the room; it appeared there was a vendor there who sold the sort of suit Makoto was wearing. Inigo hastily purchased one, skinned out of his undergarments and stepped into it, grimacing a little at the tightness of the damn thing.Ā ]
[Ā Donning his new swimsuit, Inigo stepped out to meet his teacher, pushing his hair awkwardly off of his forehead.Ā ]
"Well...ready when you are, I suppose."

Makoto was quite pleased that there were multiple pools in the city, one of which was a sector away but that wasnāt too difficult to get to simply by jogging. Obtaining a swimsuit was a bit more of an ordeal, however with all that out of the way Makoto waited outside the public pool in the first sector waiting for his new student. New meaning first, if you donāt count Rei. Since that had been a giant failure on Makotoās part, he did not count Rei.
[ Inigo shuffled his feet a little as he made his way to this swimming locale, entirely unsure of what exactly this lesson would entail. From the address Makoto had given him, he was quite certain there could be no small ponds or lakes here. And they were nowhere near the seashore. Furthermore, Inigo was entirely unsure as to what sort of garment he should be wearing; he came simply in his armor, assuming Makoto would provide some sort of...suit.Ā ]
[Ā Upon sighting his new friend and swim instructor at the edge of a public fixture, Inigo beamed.Ā ]
"Makoto, my man!"Ā he chuckled, drawing level with the slightly taller boy and clapping a hand on his shoulder.Ā "Forgive me for my lateness; I ran into some lovely maidens on my way here, and simply lost track of time while chatting them up!"
[Ā Meaning: he got horribly lost, ran into some girls, asked for directions, and proceeded to garner a slap from one girl for making a remark about her slim-fitting garment.Ā ]
[Ā But Makoto need not know any of this.Ā ]
"Anyway,"Ā Inigo went on,Ā "I'm quite ready for my lesson! Where do we go from here?"
{ out of flowers: most of you have probably guessed this already since iāve been ridiculously slow for the past couple weeks, but consider this my official heads-up that inigo will be on a semi-hiatus for at least another week! iām in finals mode and iāve been hammering away at my final project for some time now, but itās really time to kick it into gear. iām excited to pick stuff back up when iām done, though. wish me luck! }
"You donāt need to do anything like that! Honestly, Iām just looking forward to getting in the water again since Iāve been here. And itād be nice to have some company, I wouldnāt mind helping you at all."
"Heh, very well, then! If it's really all right with you..."
[ You nod once, sipping your tea. He's an uncommonly kind person, Makoto. The kind of person who's easily taken advantage of. You hope no one's ever tried.Ā ]
"A tour guideĀ andĀ a swim coach, eh? Truly, your compassion knows no bounds."
If Makoto was any less understanding he might have laughed at the rather absurd story the other young man told him about monsters and mercenaries. Of course that wasnāt Makoto. He hadĀ someĀ tact. And that tact told him that he should change the subject away from his home.
"Well, Iād be more than happy to teach you how to swim if youād like? Iām sure thereās got to be a pool around here somewhere. Worst case scenario I hear there is this water area we could go and explore?" Makoto wasnāt entirely sure what the place was like that had only recently been discovered but so long as it wasnāt the ocean, chances are he could manage.
"You...Really?" Inigo sat up a little straighter, kicking his heels down so that the metal of his bootsĀ clinkedĀ on the linoleum.Ā "That's -- Wow! I've never had a stranger offer me such a kind favor before."
"Don't worry,"Ā he added, chuckling,Ā "I'm notĀ completelyĀ inept. I know how to tread water well enough, but...I lack a certain finesse."
[Ā And, since finesse was pretty much Inigo's endgame for all endeavors, he was definitely seeking to change that.Ā Still...Ā ]
"There has to be something I can do in return! Some service I might provide you. I can't just accept such a kind favor without giving you something to show my gratitude...!"
Ā Ā Ā āYouāre implying that I already mean more to you than nothing, despite the fact that this is our first encounter?" Apparently her monologue had garnered a listener. It was amusing, since once upon a time sheād needed a Geass to receive this sort of attention from a stranger. Still, she eyed the boy curiously. Garb more fitting of an era completely different from her own. No, more like it was fitting of the time sheād been born into. "You look to be a competent swordsman. Have you been knighted, out ofĀ curiosity?ā
"Erm...well, of course you mean more to me than nothing. Nobody means nothing to me."
[Ā He smiles through his confusion, somewhat sheepishly.Ā ]
"Well, no. I'm not a knight. I'm simply a mercenary. One of the best, however,"Ā he adds, smirking a bit.Ā "What about you, miss? What sort of person are you?"Ā
