Indie RP Blog for N Harmonia from the B/W Pokémon games; remake of the blog armxnia, originally created on 3rd December 2014. Please read pages before interaction.
// i'll always say this, but as much as i acknowledge ghetsis is a power-hungry monster that never cared much for his son outside of using him as a puppet, i get soft when i see art of him holding a sleepy kid N that just wants to rest after a long day of playing around.......... Listen
// the fact that in the evolutions ep, kid N immediately reassures his pokémon friends that ghetsis means no harm... despite the fact that they're growling at him initially...... N sure is an innocent bean ;;;;;
// i really miss rping here all things considered-- things like these are the sort that kinda make me want to revamp my entire blog and give it a new, fresh coat of paint to start anew. too bad i'm very bad at managing myself
// do i come back to this blog only to talk about the remakes even tho i’ve spent several months inactive? yes
anyway i love how both the remakes and the arceus game look and i’m REALLY looking forward to it. i love unova to hell and back, but for me sinnoh will always be my pokemon birthplace. i’m REALLY looking forward to them.
as for my absence on this blog, there’s a chance i’ve discussed this already, but even though i always have N muse, the future for me here is quite uncertain. mainly cause i’ve realized roleplaying on tumblr is quite exhausting, as useful as it is for arrangement purposes. so even though i do want to come back, i’d have to carefully think about how i’m gonna do that. if anyone needs my discord or wants to hmu, feel free to contact me through DMs.
// yes, i’ve heard of pokemon masters. no, i’m not gonna play it even when N has returned, cause i’ve made peace with the fact that the game is impossible for me to play in a comfortable way.
having said that
A TINY TWINK AND LITERAL CHRISTMAS TREE???????? HELLO???? TOUYA PLEASE DRINK SOME MOOMOO MILK ASAP YOU’RE TOO FUCKIN TINY
// hmmm how about i talk about the very pokemon that gives me soul ulcers just looking at them (forgive me N, but unlike you, i can’t see past this one--):
objectively speaking, it’s not the ugliest pokemon. there are quite a handful of ugly pokemon, and if i had to bet, the one that i’d consider the ugliest would be crabominable.
however, no other pokemon gets close to what the legendary pokemon cresselia makes me feel. if you’re reading this and you’re either a fan of cresselia, a rp blog about her, or just someone that kind of likes her, i advise you don’t read this, because i will have no mercy. i am about to go full on ham. if you like her, at the end of the day, i have nothing against you. take into account this is my personal opinion, and i am talking about the pokemon itself and the experiences i’ve had with it. this isn’t meant to attack its fans or whatever.
good? good.
now, reasons i hate even looking at it:
its design. i. fucking. HATE. this thing’s design. the face is okay, but THE BODY... HOLY SHIT THE BODY. no legs, which already makes the pokemon look like an amputated swan, on top of rings for arms and a pair of hands/paws/whatever the fuck perpetually glued to its chest. what the fuck is this? it looks uncanny, like a demented art project. the color palette would be good if it weren’t for the fact that the design and anatomy of this thing is uncomfortable to look at for me. it makes my skin crawl.
‘‘female moon uwuwu’‘ bs. if you know me personally, you’d know i’m the number one detractor of the whole ‘‘male sun, female moon’‘ dichotomy. i’ve always been a fan of the opposite, and i find it not only pretty boring, but also tiresome and annoying. it’s fucking everywhere. does this mean i hate lunala and solgaleo then? no. but why, if they’re supposed to follow the same dichotomy? here’s my answer: because, despite what the pokedex says about them, they’re GENDERLESS. not only that, but maned lionesses exist in real life, and some species of male bats can nurse their offspring, something which is most largely seen on females. thus, i can do whatever the fuck i want with these legendaries. i can imagine them female or male if i want to, because they’re genderless at the end of the day, and their designs are cool. with cresselia on the other hand we get an obligatorily female design and gendered legendary that pisses me off by looking at it. i have nothing against gendered legendaries, but this one not only has an ugly as fuck design, but it also follows a dichotomy i loathe and find boring as fuck.
pinning the blame on darkrai. look, i know darkrai is not a pure helpless little baby. as a pokemon, it does awful things. but its lore explains that it doesn’t actually enjoy hurting people, and it’s the sole reason it ostracises itself to the newmoon island, because it doesn’t want to cause people nightmares that can even potentially kill them. cresselia fixes the issues it causes by offering a wing of hers to heal whatever it causes on people. soooo the next logical step of course is portraying darkrai as evil in the mystery dungeon games, and have cresselia be a heroic/positive figure, right? :) fuck off. i love pokemon mystery dungeon and i know it doesn’t follow the canon of the main games, but i hate cresselia enough to feel pissed off about this. i have mixed feelings about the whole ordeal because darkrai as a villain is pulled off well, but i just fucking hate cresselia and how it’s painted as ‘the good guy’ while darkrai gets the short end of the stick.
to add to the thing before that: in PMD it gets killed by everything before you face darkrai. it’s weak and almost useless. which translates into having to keep looking at her as i retry the dungeon again for a longer time. my eyes have a limit.
stop chasing me. in DPPT, it becomes a roaming pokemon, which means you gotta run in and out of routes so that it spawns where you are, find it and catch it. believe me when i say that, when i first played DPPT and saw it, i was so uncomfortable looking at her that i didn’t even want to encounter it. i ran in the opposite direction to where she was, and it was HER WHO CHASED ME. imagine the terror, the screams of ‘’NOT YOU’’ when it popped up in the grass. in the end i ended up catching her, but just so it would leave me alone, cause jesus christ i wasn’t about to spend the entire game suffering-
// hoo boy- *cracks knuckles* here i goooo- get ready for a rant, because...
N is NOT a problematic character
let me add some nuance to what i’m about to say - does he partake or prompt problematic things in bw1? yes. is he 100% a sweet little angel that’s done nothing wrong? not exactly.
however, i have a lot of beef with people who compare him to other fandom ‘’problematic pretty boys’’ like ko.ma.eda from DR or that one albino fuck from ev.a.ng.el.ion (jsyk, i hate NGE with every fiber of my body, but that’s a topic for another day), for the sole reason that N doesn’t even COME CLOSE to what THAT KIND OF CHARACTERS often do.
not to mention, it’s very clearly stated, especially after you defeat him in BW1, that N’s reason for doing these things was largely due to his father BRAINWASHING HIM SINCE HE WAS A LITTLE KID, and he was led to believe that this was how ‘’things were meant to be’’. N felt morally obligated to fight against trainers, liberate pokemon and boycott things that promoted such things because most of the pokemon he had interacted with throughout his life were abused, so he formed a warped idea of how society and trainers actually treated pokemon.
after being yelled at by his father and seeing the truth with his own eyes, he feels regret and remorse by all the harm team plasma had caused. he’s legitimately sorry for what had transpired, and the reason he travelled afterwards was because he wanted to better himself. the last thing he’d want is to be like HIS FATHER, who is the one that people should actually look at when looking for someone to call ‘problematic’. even his father calls him A FREAK just because he’s capable of understanding the feelings of pokemon.
obviously he’s not a stupid uwu manbaby. but people need to realize that, while he is morally grey (which is the point of the entire game), he’s never done things like try to kill somebody, commit arson or something way worse. not only because of pokemon’s nature in itself, but also because N has some degree of redemption arc, something that a lot of these character archetypes don’t tend to have, at least explicitly.
‘‘I saw there’s a bunch of berry bushes at the other side of the river! Would you help me cross?’‘
‘‘Uhhhh... s- sorry, mancub. Me and water don’t exactly get along...’‘
‘‘C’mon Darman, don’t be such a pushover! Say kid, isn’t there any way Darma over here could safely cross?’‘
‘‘I- I mean... there’s rocks we can jump onto. As long as neither of us fall, we should be good-’‘
‘‘See, Darman? Junior’s already got it figured it out~ Nothin’ to worry about!’‘
‘‘I- If ya’ say so...’‘ As he said this, the ape looked over to the river, gulping nervously as he saw the strong current flowing. Thankfully the rocks were big enough to rest his large feet on.
‘‘Just step in carefully, okay?’‘ Reassured the kid, perching himself on the Fire type’s back. Zorua followed them behind, and although there were moments where Darmanitan kind of freaked out, they managed to cross the river safely.
‘’Woah, there’s so many bushes!’‘ Exclaimed the boy cheerfully the moment they landed safely, leaping off his friend’s back and diving into the thickets.
‘‘Huff, that was close--- H- Hey! Mancub!? O- Oh no, where did he go?!’‘
‘‘Relax! I’m sure he’ll take care of himself. Remember he saves our butts more often than we save his!’‘
‘‘I- If you put it that way... I- I’m just looking out for his wellbeing...!’‘
