look, shipping canon!aroace characters, as much as it pains me to say, is not wrong. I do hate it and will block you, but no personal hatred or harassment here.
The issue comes when people try and claim theyre NOT canonically aroace. Its fine to be like "This character is aroace but im making them X for this fic". Weird but fine. It is not okay to say "actually character is not aroace theyre actually X canonically idc about the source material". The second one is erasure, plain and simple.
Most important to address is the hypocrisies. IF YOU WOULDN'T DO IT TO GAY OR LESBIAN CHARACTER WHY ARE YOU DOING IT TO AN AROACE?
That needs to be addressed; do you value aroace people less? do you see our identity as less worthy of respect or acknowledgement? is there a reason you would change a canonical idenitiy when its an aromantic or asexual idenity, but you would loose it if someone shipped your favourite yaoi with a woman or yuri with a man?
Asking for touch as an aspec is so weird like âhey, please touch me, but not in a sex/romance way, just in a human contact way. Interact with my bodyâs touchscreens. Punch me in the face or something. Please. Iâll take anything at this point.â

Nebularomantic is a romantic orientation on the aromantic spectrum. Much like platoniromantic, those who are nebularomantic are unable to distinguish the difference between romantic and platonic attraction. But in the case of nebularomantic individuals, that is due to one's status as neurodivergent. (source)

AROMANTIC HEART!! glad they updated it to now change with the tags! Also an asexual one, but its randomised if both are tagged and I only got it once (and i missed the screenshot)
previously, the bipoc pride flag would appear only on pride month tagged posts (less then 3 hours tho and then they snapped and updated it... GOOD. you didn't even have the trans or intersex flags included.... but they now have a separate animation for both of those!!)

edit 2: they changed it yesterday and i didnt get a chance to edit this but now it goes by most tagged/top tag of the post! aromantic, intersex, trans, asexual, lesbian, bisexual and many more all pop up now!! Good job on the correction tumblr!

Same with all other pride posts. they quickly updated it so that just pride tagged posts would show the bipoc followed by an intersex/trans flag now! not just the bipoc!)

Originally it was only the flag in the clip above on mobile and PC no matter what you liked, they updated after like 24/48 hours. PC AND MOBILE.
Mobile is NOW updated to have the above followed by the intersex/trans flags and PC now can do randomised based on tags. THIS IS POST UPDATE after 24/48 hours. Jesus fucking christ.
If i get one more ask calling me an idiot for "not reliking it" im going to scream! I do, in the video actually? Did you bloody see? I did it twice, I filmed it on mobile bc I can't screen record easily on my PC but it was the same no matter what I liked in that time frame.
being anti-amatonormativity in a romance centered world is like watching half the people you know put all their eggs in one basket and then drop the basket and all their eggs break and theyâre crying and swearing theyâre never gonna do that again and then a month later they have all new eggs in a new basket and they tell you the problem was they didnât have a strong enough basket or fresh enough eggs and then they drop the fucking basket again.
(this post is about putting all your time, energy, and care into one relationship, about staking all your happiness on a romantic relationship, effectively making the entirety of your joy and stability dependent on one person who could exit your life for any number of reasons no matter how great the relationship seems. itâs about the societal expectation to build your entire social life around one long term relationship, putting all your eggs in that basket, so to speak, instead of tending to larger social network and maintaining a variety of strong connections so that even if one very important relationship comes to an end, you wonât be losing your whole social life in one fell swoop.)
You have no idea how good it feels to run into strangers who headcanon a character as aro. In spaces where ships are taken too seriously and around friends who just don't really care all too much about aromanticism, seeing a complete random person headcanon something that I am in real life brings me so much genuine joy
