“Yes, I am.” His reply came quite hastily. He couldn’t afford to hesitate, not even for a second. Mika could feel his mouth begin to water as she spoke of the taste. Ah.. he wanted it.. 

“If every vampire did the same thing, there would be no livestock.”

“ Ne, Mika, y’know ... you don’t sound very sure, ” but nonetheless Chess turns away, shrugging━━ more for her ! “ B - but, they don’t ! ‘Cause they’re weak ‘n’ all that. Mm, just means that there’s more for the rest ‘f us !! ”

He may not have noticed her presence, but his arm reacted to it without delay. Internal machinery creaking and humming–heating up… it got to the point he had to brace it against his side to keep it at bay. Right before Chess spoke, and revealed herself.

Saito spun around to face her. Though he was surprised–she didn’t look all that threatening… hell, she was barely taller than him. “No one besides me? The hell’re you–” She had gotten close enough now that he could make out her crimson eyes with ease–unnatural, like his own golden eyes. He was on guard before her threat was even delivered.

“Ha? You look pretty flimsy to me. I dunno what the hell you are, but I’ll bet a bit of fire’ll change your tune.” He raised his left arm then, and as he tightened his fist, flames burst forth from the cracks and vents. He lowered his stance then, seemingly ready to let Chess make the first move, blissfully unaware of what a Vampire was capable of, it seemed. “Though I’d rather find out what the hell happened to this city…”

She doesn’t answer him at first ; the vampire preferring to tilt her head, carmine hues blinking at his arm. “ Ooh, it’s acting weird ! ” Chess says, more to herself than to the livestock.

As he speaks, the momentary curiosity fades from her tone, a pout placing itself on pale lips. “ Flimsy ? H - hey ! ” hands are planted on hips, red orbs narrowing—— the progenitor isn’t used to being insulted, much LESS by livestock, though the fire that bursts from his arm causes amused surprise to spread across her features ; at least the livestock would offer entertainment before he died !

The male, despite the display he had just shown, doesn’t seem willing to make the first move —— how boring ! Chess’ pout reveals itself back in full force. “ Ne, that ... fire thing s’not gunna work, y’know ! ” she snaps childishly, before moving ; unnatural speed turning her into a mere blur as she reappears inches from the male, finger stretched out to try and poke at his arm’s mechanism. “ Duh, cattle like ya’ are only around for free meals !! ”

Stepping back guiltily, the progenitor barely avoids scratching the back of her head &&. delaying━━ surely it would serve only to annoy the other. “ Heh, heh ... uhm, w - wait !! I promise I have an idea somewhere in my head, I’m jus’ no good at ‘ digging it out ’. N - not all of us are super smart, y’know !! ”

I win them.❜  says the slytherin with a smile , foot pressing down upon the student’s face && his squirming eventually stops as his body goes limp && krul lifts her foot again . she’s in no need of this weakling anymore , who has given up on her so soon . honestly ━━ she’d expected him to be more of a challenge , yet he went unconscious before she could even test him . pity , really .  ❛  NOW , SHALL WE be off ? surely , we don’t want to get caught with such a terrible crime ? ❜

Thin eyebrows furrow in thought ━━ Chess forgetting it’s considered poor decision - making to disagree with the other witch. “ B - but don’t ‘cha have to play a game to win it ? Otherwise it’s not really fair, ne ?  ” Though the purple - haired shows no indication of caring about the male’s unconscious state, aside from a small giggle ; shortly entertained. “ Mm, I suppose - s’not like they could actually do somethin’ ‘bout it, though ━━ they really are so weak ! ”

Red hues lift from the limp livestock, settling upon the blonde with interest. “ Ne, Mika ! ” Chess flutters a careless hand at his words, waving aside such a silly notion —— she doesn’t care for that particular ‘ law ’. “ Mm, why d’ya still care about that ? C’mon, don’t be a spoilsport ... don’t you want a sip ? ”

“ Ne, aren’t I, though —— ! ” the vampire seems pleased, clasping pale hands together ; before she tilts her head, blinking childishly. “ Hm, y’know, you’re one of the first one’s to tell me that ! Weird—— ‘cause ‘m very hu - humer ... funny, right ? ”

… Just where was he now? He had traveled through run down sections of cities before in his brief trips across the surface, but here… With half-collapsed buildings standing tall above him, the cracked pavements allowing vegetation to begin retaking the city…

It all looked so… intact. New, even, to someone who came from a world much more ravaged. Even the air felt cleaner. But still, something felt wrong… it proooobably had to do with the fact that he could hear bestial roars in the distance every so often. That was definitely new.

He made his way through the destroyed streets, occasionally spinning around, thinking he had seen children out of the corner of his eye. But if he had, they seemed to bolt at the sight of him… frankly, he was worried they were ghosts or something. Nooot something he wanted to chase! Eventually his journey led him to a partly collapsed highway–though he had to use a few bursts of flame from his arm to boost him up here. He had a good view of the city from up here… and still he saw no signs of life.

“Ugh, okay, this is creeping me the hell out.” He stepped back, cupped his hands on either side of his mouth, aaaand! “HEEEEEEEEY! ANYONE ALIVE OUT THEEEEEERE?!”

Despite her progenitor status, even a vampire such as Chess is required to patrol for human soldiers —— though such ‘ patrolling, ’ for the female vampire, mostly equates to mealtime ; draining livestock that was unfortunate enough to cross her path. It is thanks to vampire senses that she becomes aware of the boy many miles away ; &&. it’s a fact certain in her mind that he wouldn’t notice signs of her until she revealed herself —— a fact that amuses her greatly, giggling to herself.

She ignores other livestock scampering around in favor of him, as that arm of his is nigh funny to Chess. Yet her childish pondering about his limb is interrupted as the human halts and starts yelling something, a bored pout to fall on Chess’ visage.

“ Y’know, you could’ve just asked ! ” she says, childlike pout still gracing her lips as she reveals herself, standing opposite of him.  “ Oh, and there’s no one out here, alive ! ” she giggles at her own jokes, still approaching the male from behind. “ Ne, ‘sides from you, I guess —— but don’t worry, ’ll fix that soon !! ” the amusement still hasn’t faded from Chess’ countenance, the vampire licking her lips tastily.

“ Hm —— ” a finger delicately pats her chin in thought, considering the other’s proposal. “ Eh, some of the other progenitors seem t’ get pretty, uhm, tetchy when they find, y’know, livestock lying dead somewhere ... prob’ly has something to do with, ne, the laws ‘n’ all that. ” Chess waves her hand dismissively ; as if laws were mere hindrances ( and to her, they probably were ) . “ Ne, my work ? ‘s not like its interesting or anythin’—— heh, it’s just boring task after task ! ‘Important’ though, I guess. ”
