A treasure hunt for a pair of bloomers. Fun. Still, he reluctantly followed the girl, a little out of curiosity and partly because he was bored anyway. Perhaps it wasn't so bad. No sooner did the thought surface than the girl gesture at the trash can. Life thought it was funny that way.

At the very least, the trash can didn't look particularly mucky. He didn't entirely believe that a pair of panties had been found in the trash, but well, people were strange. His own father was beyond eccentric.

"Uh...sure. Try." His answer was tentative; he didn't quite know what to expect.

Tomoka blinked her hazel eyes a few times to make sure she wasn’t imagining this at all.

After a few more times, she confirmed it wasn’t an illusion or anything like that. It was all real. It was her beloved Ryoma-sama!

“WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! RYOMA-SAMA!” She couldn’t help but get excited. “How are your tennis matches? You’re not injured or anything like that, right? RIGHT?!” And Tomoka could go on all day.

Ryoma blinked in surprise at the girl in front of him, taken aback by her overly surprised reaction. Did he know this girl? She certainly seemed to know him. There was something vaguely familiar about her though...

And then it clicked. That loud cheering at all of his matches, and even some practice sessions. He had never quite bothered with her, but she had certainly made quite an impression.

What was her name again? To...Tomoe. Yea, that was it.

"Do I look like I'm injured to you?" He eyed her as he spoke in his usual bored tone. "Tennis has been boring, nobody strong here."

Sakuno was too engrossed with her thoughts to even notice anyone had walked up to her. It wasn’t until she felt something touch the back of her knees that she yelped in surprised. 

Jumping back slightly, she turned her head in the direction of the familiar voice. It was the boy from the other day. It was Ryoma. A soft blush appeared on her cheeks, and she turned her gaze to the side. She didn’t want him to see her crying again; heck she didn’t want anyone to know how miserable she really was here. 

“O-Oh…thank you, Ryoma-kun…”

Her voice was a whisper, and she looked down at her racket. Just another thing she couldn’t do right.

Ryoma said nothing in response to the girl's words of gratitude, although he noted the wet trail of tears on her cheeks. None of his business, really. Or at least, that would have been how Ryoma normally reacted. Today was a little different, although the boy didn't actually notice, nor stop to think about it.

He was bored, he reasoned. It would provide some entertainment.

"Oi. Go back to your wall practice. I'll train you, just for today."

She didn’t want to impede on his time with his friend. Sakuno could find something to do here…right? She didn’t want to seem like some clingy girl, so she clasped her hands behind her back and let her gaze wander to the side. 

“Um I’ll just go back to my dorm now.” She pretended a yawn, and offered a shy smile. “H-Have fun.”

Ryoma nodded, pulling the tip of his cap down. "Right. I'll see you around, then. Don't forget to bend your knees when you try and return the ball, Ryuzaki-san."

Sakuno allowed herself to be led by Ryoma back to the harnesses. She tried her best to keep her knees from buckling at the sight of the height they were about to drop at. There was something about Ryoma that she trusted though; she knew that he wouldn’t let her get hurt. Taking a deep breathe, she allowed him to harness her in and she grabbed the rope. She turned her head to look at him. 

“Y-Yes.”

With that pushed them off the ledge and they were off. Her eyes shut automatically, but slowly twitched open when she felt Ryoma’s hand on top of hers. It didn’t take too long before they hit the ground, and Sakuno let out a big breath. 

“T-That wasn’t too bad…” She offered a smile to Ryoma as they were being unharnessed.

He nodded at her comment, feeling somewhat pleased that she hadn't found the second time so bad. Folding his arms behind canted head, he looked absently at the girl for a minute or so before straightening again.

"Well, I think I'm going to try and find Fuji-senpai now. You?"

Sakuno’s head shot up as Ryoma grabbed her wrist again. What was he doing?! She had just told him that she didn’t like heights. Why was he making her do this again? Her hands began to shake, and her legs were wobbling all the way up there. When they got to the top of the tower, Sakuno’s arms wrapped around Ryoma and she buried her head in his chest. She wasn’t even aware of what she was doing, but she knew she couldn’t do this again. However, when she heard his voice, she peeked up at him.

“T-Together…?” Her cheeks were flushed.

He nodded.

Helping her into the harness once again, and then strapping his own on, he guided her hands to her rope, before hooking his own harness to the cable, setting it up so they would move in tandem. Holding the two of them in place using only his own strength, he checked that everything was secure.

"Ready?"

Waiting for her answer. And then he jumped off the platform, and the two of them proceeded down the zip-line rapidly, him with a hand above hers on her rope as an added reassurance.

Her hands clenched at the hem of her skirt. She wish she could be a bit braver so things like this wouldn’t freak her out as much. The brunette really did want to change her timid ways, but it wasn’t going so well. She would just have to keep working harder; she didn’t want to let down her grandmother. 

She couldn’t help but think about the lie she had told her grandma. About how she was making friends, and having a great time; truth was Sakuno was miserable. But she was going to stick to her convictions and come out on top. She had to! To prove it to herself that she could do it. 

When she heard Ryoma’s voice her head shot up, and a blush appeared on her cheeks. 

“A-Ah…I’m sorry…” Her gaze drifted to the ground, and she shook her head. “I’m just not too fond of heights…”

Ryoma stood in front of the girl in silence for a while, his usual apathy broken as he considered for the first time the girl's feelings on the matter. And then, he smiled at her, once again taking her wrist and leading her back to the zip-line tower, back up the stairs, and back to the top of the tower.

"Let's do it again, Ryuzaki-san. Together this time."

She didn’t like that look on his face. Why was he advancing toward her? Sakuno didn’t have time to run away before Ryoma grabbed her by the wrist again. And to his strength she had no chance to get away. 

“R-Ryoma-kun! I-It’s too high!”

Before she knew it she was locked into the harness and grabbing onto the rope. Someone get her out of this thing! She turned her head to look at Ryoma with a pleading look on her face. 

“W-wait!”

And with that she was off! Quickly she shut her eyes and let out a scream. She was going to die, she was going to die! Just as fast as the ride started it also stopped. Sakuno peeked to see that someone was unfastening her harness, and she was placed on the ground. Her knees were shaking and she had to go sit down. Thankfully there was a bench close by, and she sat down. 

“I never want to do that again!”

Ryoma's ride down had a lot less screaming (None, to be exact), and he dismounted smoothly at the end, unhitching his own harness and looking around for Sakuno. There was a glint in his eye from the exhilaration, something that was normally lacking except in an intense tennis match with a strong opponent.

Spotting her seated at the bench nearby, he was a little puzzled. It couldn't have been that bad, and actually doing it shouldn't have been as frightening as thinking about it? Was the brunette seriously that timid?

"Ne...Was it really that bad?"

Right. So I’m just throwing it out there that replies will come a bit slowly for the next two weeks roughly. I’ll still be doing replies, maybe a few every two days or when I need a break, but I have two academic essays due by the following Monday and Friday respectively, so I’ll have to focus on those for a bit. Who knows, without procrastination, I might actually finish within the week. (Who am I kidding, I procrastinate all the time, just even more with tumblr.)

Not really Hiatus, since I’m still planning to do replies as and when I can?

Her lips turned into a frown as he messed up her name again. She guessed this was her punishment for getting him lost that day. However, she couldn’t help but think this was a little harsh. 

“It’s Sakuno…”

Her words were a whisper as the finally got to the top of the tower. Sakuno’s legs were beginning to shake as she looked at the height. Did he really expect her to do this?! WILLINGLY!? When she saw him gesture her over, she shook her head. 

“Y-You can go…I’ll just walk back down the stairs.”

Ahh, so that was her name. His grin turned into a smirk at her reaction. It certainly looked like she wouldn't come willingly, so he would just have to...

"Come on. It's not that bad. I'll follow right after!"

Grabbing her by the wrist again, he pulled her towards the line and helped her put on the safety harness before positioning her hands on the rope and instructing her on the sitting position she should have on the knot.

"Ne. Good luck and hold on tight"

Adding that last line just to tease the girl further, he gave the rope a push, starting it on its rapid journey down the cable.

When they had finally arrived at their destination, Sakuno’s eyes widened and she started to pull back. She couldn’t do that! She would fall and die! Her head shook frantically, and she tried to pull her wrist from Ryoma’s grasp. Was he this mad at her for getting them lost that he wanted to kill her?! 

“R-Ryoma-kun! I-I can’t go up there!”

Her heart was beating fast as they continued to ascend the tower. Why was he making her do this? She would have much rather swam in front of all those kids instead!

"Heh. It isn't that bad, err..."

Her name. What was her name again?

"...Sakura-chan."

Reaching the top of the tower, he finally released her wrist, pulling the line closer and gesturing for her to come over.

It was obvious she was terrified, but having done this before, Ryoma saw no reason for that and so allowed his mischief to persist.

"You'll be fine..." A reassuring smile.

Sakuno really had to fight the blush on her cheeks as she walked behind Ryoma. It hadn’t dawned on her until now that he was shirtless. She hadn’t had a good look at him before, but now she could see what all that tennis practice had done. Her free hand went to her cheek in hopes to cool it down some. She had to try and concentrate on something else. Anything else, just not what was in front of her!

“A-Alright…”

Arriving at their destination, Ryoma craned his head upward with a grin. The zip-line tower. Seeing the timid girl on this should be interesting, and it gave him a reason to try it himself. Not that he hadn't done stuff like this in America. It had been a while, and he missed the thrill.

Not releasing the girl's wrist, he started walking up the stairs to the top of the tower, where the zip-line started.

Her eyes widened as Ryoma grabbed her by the wrist. She hadn’t been expecting that at all. The blush on her cheeks only deepened, and she followed after him. 

“R-Ryoma-kun? Where are we going?”

She honestly thought he couldn’t stand her. And the brunette would completely understand why he would feel that way too. She did get him lost on his first day here; all she ever seemed to was cause trouble for others.

What Sakuno didn't know was that Ryoma didn't even remember that incident. He hadn't bothered with it, and he had a bad habit of forgetting things and people he considered insignificant. Which was why he had forgotten her name when they had met previously, him correcting her tennis technique.

"You'll see." A smirk. This would be good.

Sakuno pulled at her shirt as she watched everyone having a good time. She had really wanted wanted to come to with a friend; only problem was, she didn’t have any. A soft sigh escaped her lips as she sat in the background once again. Hey at least she hadn’t gotten lost this time. That was something right? Inwardly she shrugged at the thought, and turned her gaze back to the pool. Sadly, even if she had someone to come with she would still be scared to wear a bikini in front of so many people. A soft blush appeared on her cheeks as she thought of it. 

The brunette was pulled from her reverie when she heard a voice call out to her. Turning her head, her eyes landed on the Ryoma. He seemed to be popping up a lot lately. Her cheeks flushed more, and she shook her head slightly. 

“U-Um…I really don’t have anyone to swim with…”

"No one to swim with, eh?" It seemed like they were in the same boat for now.

Ryoma looked at the girl in silence for a few seconds before taking her by the wrist and pulling her up after him. He was bored of swimming but there was always...A mischievous idea began forming in his head.

The young brunette seemed to happen right on the scene of the pool party. She was wearing her clothes over the simple bikini that she had picked out earlier that day. Her friend from middle school had forced her to buy it those months ago. However, now she didn’t know what to do. Her eyes wandered the event in hopes of finding someone familiar.

Ryoma was bored. Fuji had wandered off, and he was alone again. None of the games particularly interested him, and he was taking a break from swimming for a bit.

Noticing a certain brunette - what was her name again? - he began heading towards her. He recognised her this time, but her name still eluded him. Still, he remembered that she had been pretty amusing, and he figured he might be able to amuse himself by teasing her.

"Ne. Aren't you going to swim?"

Fuji let yet another quiet laugh slip from him, indeed if Momo was here he would have no doubt already dived straight into the pool and commenced showing off to them. 

“I think you’re probably right!” He’d agreed with a small nod and mystic smile,Fuji’s own interest in that subject was limited too. Maybe not as much as Ryoma’s, but the brunette’s focus lay more on immersing himself in the pool and maybe participating in some of the less dubious games than girl watching.

“So, how about a dip in the pool Ryoma? You up for it?”

Ryoma smirked at that question from his senpai, his competitive streak surfacing.

"Of course. We don't have Inui-senpai's dangerous juice here, but shall we have a penalty for the loser?"

What fun would a simple dip in the pool be? Ryoma could only really be like this around his seniors, whom he had spent nearly an entire year playing tennis with.
