Violet hues flitted over the strings of colourful floral displays with an intensity undeserving of such a straightforward task. Relieved that the flower vendor he’d sprinted to still stocked a worthy collection, despite almost the entire City having purchased every wreath, bouquet and corsage in sight with intention of wooing their loved ones.
This was a first for him picking out a Valentine’s Day gift for someone, not investing much personal significance behind the holiday and its implications. Eyes narrowed in concentration behind gleaming lenses, finger resting pensively under his chin, Rei looked more like someone mulling over a life changing decision than selecting which flowers to get for a friend. Perhaps it would just be easier and produce a more positive reaction if he headed down a food option instead…

Valentines Day? Sure, it was a fun celebration! He'd never been ungrateful to open up a locker stashed full of chocolates and endearing little love notes from his throngs of admirers, even if in the end it didn't matter to Fuji whether he received something or not.
The reason behind his visiting the small flower boutique at the corner of his road wasn't anything near as exciting, or absorbing as picking out a bouquet for a loved one. Merely curious about the types of cacti that might be in stock, as to start his collection anew during his indefinite stay in the City.
Weaving in between the pots and wooden stands, his attention was little by little drawn in by a curious fellow who was looking worryingly disenchanted. Fuji was sure he'd been staring at the same batch of flowers for a good 10 minutes now.
"Why don't you get one of those?" He gestured toward a small pot sprouting a very cute Acanthocalycium spiniflorum in bloom--oddly.
