I'm going to get one last post just before it's over for the #marchmeetthemaker challenge, although I might still continue with some of the prompts on my own afterwards, as i think there are still things to say for me and it is such a good list of topics to post about. 💬 So, one of the prompts was whether I am a full-time or part-time maker. The truth is, it's not even part time, as my art is really only the thing I do in my very few and rare free moments, between the main job, parenting and other responsibilities and chores. As a mother of a very energetic toddler who has given up the nap by the age of 2 and a half, I don't get even those short moments of peace during the daylight when I could sit down and paint. Scroll through the gallery and you will see the real life scenes of how this drawing was done. I started it one evening, when my son was already asleep. Last week my little one was ill so he took a nap for the first time in months, and I managed to start painting this sketch. However, when he is his normal self, it is more like in the last photo, which is what was going on under my desk at one point when I tried to draw during the weekend. Slightly late to the #marchmeetthemaker party, but I hope to try and keep up more or less. So, how did I start... I used to draw as long as I remember since childhood and most of school, and even had the typical artistic kid dreams of professions, however I was discouraged from those and since I equally had mathematical abilities, ended up going into more of an engineering role and throughout the high school and university years ended up stalling more and more in my creative growth.😞 I ended up with a severe case of an artist's block and struggled to do any art for ages since uni. The thing that got me out of it, was coming across an international movement called #urbansketchers.📗 It gave me a starting point, the subject, the freedom to simply enjoy the process and a reason to get out and draw. ✏️ With practice I was getting better steadily and eventually started venturing off into other subjects and themes. Slightly surprising results for the year, but I thought I might draw the hypothetical line as a summary before I come into the new 2019 year with new ideas, new projects and new plans. Last few months have been tough with focus on other things and very dry on the artistic front, so now I am trying to battle the artist block and find the flow again.
