Studio space smells like linoleum right now and it's making me sooooooo happy. #printmaking #blockprinting #artallyear
March Art All Year project: Paint Something. Life was pretty hectic last month, so I mostly just worked on these little plant watercolor doodles I started in February (hence the Valentine's Day palette). It was a nice way to spend some time with Amelia, sneaking in a few minutes here and there doing something creative together. I think I'll keep working on more of these and experimenting with making a pattern, something I've really been wanting to try! #artallyear
Collage something
Winter decided to bring it hard in February but that didn’t stop me from having a ton of fun collecting materials to work into my collages. I’m not sure if it was more fun to hunt for stuff than it was to put my ideas together on paper, but I’m really happy with where I’m heading with these super duper minimal compositions. I like the idea of constraining myself to 3 or 4 elements and using lots of negative space.
I want to explore more in this style and maybe make a series out of them. Each one will incorporate a basic shape or solid block of color mixed with the found imagery.
The last one is something I’m still noodling around with. I think I might ditch the graph paper and embroider the geo lines instead of using ink. I might also bring the lines down a bit further. We’ll see! More play time needed...
Snuck this fast & loose doodle in while Nate gave Amelia a tubby. One thing I struggle with is feeling like I need hours & hours to make art. With a 3 1/2 yr old though, that's rarely going to be possible. So when I get 1/2 hour here, 20 min there, gotta squeeze it in while I can! #artallyear #sketchsomething
Last time I did my art all year challenge I totally chickened out on sketching faces, so I decided to give it a go. Hopefully I don’t totally mortify my niece with this one. I sure had fun ♡ #artallyear #sketchsomething

Hello! It’s a new year, and it’s been a while since I’ve posted anything to this space. A few years ago, feeling very angsty since I hadn’t been making art a priority in my life, I challenged myself with making one art project every month for the whole year. It was honestly one of the most fun and fulfilling things I’ve ever done. So I’m going to do it again! I’ve updated my original project list with some new things that I’ve been wanting to explore (hand printing textiles, designing a gig poster, tearin’ up paper and making some collages) and I can’t wait to dig in to it. I’m using this as a rough guide since I’ve also been wanting to try some of the projects in Danielle Krysa’s book Creative Block. So I may swap in a few of those here or there along the way. Whatever happens, I’m excited to get back into the art-making game!
PS: Many posts here were from the 100 Day Project I did in 2015, which was also super awesome and gratifying. I decided to put them here as well to have a combined archive of all my art challenge shiz. But with a new year comes that urge to de-clutter, combined with my tendencies to compartmentalize, I’m pondering ditching those and just making this a space for AAY work. We’ll see… For anyone so inclined to peruse the original Art All Year challenge, just click on the Archive link and scroll down to the 2014 posts.
💯 Feeling some feels as I wrap up this project, but oh man, this basically just wet my whistle for learning lettering. (And um, I have a WAY deeper appreciation for all the letterers out there who make it look so easy!) So for my last post, I just want to say a huge heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who supported me on this hundred day journey. Every bit of encouragement, like, comment, share, and hi-five was so appreciated, and really helped keep me motivated. Not to mention all the other participants who showed up (and are still going) who made this that much more fun! I will definitely keep practicing, and makin' stuff, and sharing along the way. Thanks y'all! #The100DayProject #100daysofthinkythumbnails
99/100 I read a quote back in June in the 1/2 way mark email sent out by @greatdiscontent and it stuck with me ever since. It's from one of the other #The100DayProject artists, @thejellyologist, who said “I’ve had to let go of little perfectionist tendencies and accept that this project is as much, if not more so, about the discoveries made along the way—of which there have been many—than it is about the highly curated and crafted image that gets posted each day.” I could not have said it better! This project has been so much fun, and tho many of the posts are far from perfect in so many ways, I really loved the act of showing up and practicing. Of trying new things, and letting go of my perfectionism in the interest of just doing and discovering. #100daysofthinkythumbnails
98/100 This is one of those things I need to print and hang over my desk so I can see it daily. Quote by David Allen. #The100DayProject #100daysofthinkythumbnails
97/100 Reflecting back to 2 yrs ago, when right about now I had been in labor for just about 20 hrs with ~12 more to go. It was exhausting physically and mentally, but at the end of it all we got the greatest gift we could have ever imagined. I was so grateful that I got to work one-on-one with my yoga instructor @nagalotusyogi before Amelia was born. She worked with me on amazing poses to help prepare my body for giving birth, and the ujjayi breath I learned at her studio was a *huge* part of what got me through those long, intense hours. I will always be so incredibly grateful to Lona for her support and generosity during one of the most important times of my life. ♡ #The100DayProject #100daysofthinkythumbnails
96/100 I got mad love for this state I've called home for the last 4 years. I grew up coming to Maine in the summers, and my family has deep roots here, so I feel like maybe I was destined to make my own home here, too. This lettering feels a little too trippy, but I like the concept to push further with more time. #The100DayProject #100daysofthinkythumbnails
95/100 tried to go a bit faster with this one. It's rough but I definitely want to practice more with this style. This one comes from Kurt Cobain. We watched the HBO documentary about him recently (which was....odd), and it reminded me of this quote. #The100DayProject #100daysofthinkythumbnails
94/100 You know what else was a crazy idea? Quitting my job the same summer I was planning my wedding to start my own business. It's been a crazy, amazing ride, but I'm the luckiest because I get to do this with my partner in crime @megankeogh. She's one kind, über-talented, hilarious, badass, hard-working boss lady, and she keeps teaching me how to be a better person, designer, mother, and friend. Love you tons, dude! Here's to 7 more!🍸#The100DayProject #100daysofthinkythumbnails
93/100 Man, 3 months ago this project seemed like a really crazy idea. But now that it's almost over, and I scroll back through all the posts, it makes me so happy I decided to challenge myself. Quote by Jacqueline Novogratz #The100DayProject #100daysofthinkythumbnails
92/100 Not sure if I'll finish on 7/14, but Confucius says it's cool. #The100DayProject #100daysofthinkythumbnails
