It was rare for such affectiona to come from Celegorm, and each time Curufin found himself pleasantly surprised by. Leaning back upon his chaise, he raked his fingers through the other’s hair in appreciation, humming with pleasure as his cheeks, already dappled with blush by some wine he had partook in earlier, now flushed a deep crimson.

“Ah, Tyelko…” the name was whispered with a reverence he so rarely showed, spoken with the same weight that he would invoke the name of his father, and when Celegorm had finished Curufin guided his head towards him, gently, and gifted him a kiss of his own upon his lips.

Pleased to find his brother as he was, there was a gentle, quiet joy gleaming in his eyes as he was kissed in turn, and as he examined Curufin's pretty face. A slight appreciative noise Celegorm gave in acknowledgement of him, too, before scooting over and gathering the younger in his arms, to hold him close on the chaise. He imagined Curufin would much prefer the padding of his thighs to the surface of the seat, after all.

The well kept curls felt like midnight silk in his fingers, Celegorm thought as the calm of having his beloved brother near descended upon him. It was, on an occasion, a balm like no other. As sweet as dripping honey in his chest.

As quiet as the hunter was, he made his affection known thus - the nearness, the gentle squeeze of his arms that had wrestled many a beast and man off their years. A smile there was now on his face, almost one that could be called serene. He pressed it against Curufin's neck, teeth nipping there gently like a tender announcement of his happiness.

"If you are going to do something complicated, I might reconsider", Orodreth answered smilingly. His heart was not in those words; there were very few and rather obscure occasions he could think of that might have caused him to revoke his trust in his beloved knight.

But he could not remain untruthful. Orodreth's face softened from the playful spark to the gentle adoration he so often gazed Agarwaen with.

Sat by a wooden table, Tyelkormo stared at the lump of clay his father had set before him. Just what he thought he was to achieve with it, was a complete mystery to the son, whose gaze scanned the brown surface, willing it to yield its secrets. His eyes flickered back to Nerdan, hands stubbornly hanging by his sides. In that impassive expression, one could still somehow extract hints of aversion to the task at hand.

Ridiculing himself in front of the master sculptor would be almost as bad as doing likewise in front of his mother at the crafts of the forge, and Tyelkormo was reluctant to live the experience twice.

It was not the sort of invitation one turned down, and it seemed Orodreth knew this, since he turned and walked away without waiting for agreement. It made Dior smile to see such deeply-engrained confidence, lacking any of the doubt of a lesser man or nér. He followed without pause.

Though he was not dressed to equal the splendor of the king, the tunic was respectable enough for an informal meeting, as this clearly was. (Would the king arrive unaccompanied if it was formal? He was not careful enough, truly. If Dior had ill intent, he could easily hurt him. Was Orodreth not mindful of this? Was he not concerned for spies of the Enemy entering Nargothrond? If they married, he would correct this oversight; or, if checks were placed on whatever power he had as consort, he would encourage Orodreth to correct it. This was unacceptable.) He followed him into the hall with his hands clasped behind him, as he had been taught was the least threatening way a man of his height could present himself. His own slippers made hardly a sound.

"You make it sound quite exciting," he said, smiling. "I am hungry. I suppose there's no chance you'll tell me what awaits, is there?"

It was, of course, true that no doubt existed in the little king's mind that Dior would ever hesitate to follow him. It would have simply been too absurd. All life revolved around His Majesty, so why would his guest - especially his guest! - ever be an exception?

"It will not be a surprise if I tell you now, will it!" Orodreth laughed, leading the prince down the hall until it joined with the larger central chamber. Beyond its arches, inviting peeks of the lush palace gardens could be spied, but the verdant air in that direction did not beckon Orodreth, who continued onwards to the opposing wing, where the king's apartments lay.

It almost appeared as if his radiant mood had lit up the whole royal dwelling in bright, sprightly air and light. Had he been any less dignified by nature, one could have imagined his lively steps skipping.

Another flight of stairs more and evidently their destination lay near. Orodreth stopped and turned to Dior, excitement gleaming in his eyes. He offered his hand, half wondering what the prince would say. The novelty of his guest made everything far more thrilling.

"Close your eyes. I shall lead you to it."

As a rule, Dior was not a fan of surprises. Too often had they proven unpleasant in his life, and not often enough the gentle delight that Orodreth's manner promised. Still, he had not the heart to disappoint the king, who was radiant as he waited for Dior to do his bidding. There was something to be said about a spirit so generous and joyful.

Dior closed his eyes. His attention turned, naturally, to what he could hear and where the sounds were coming from; but in spite of this involuntary vigilance, he made himself do the king's bidding.

"I'm trusting you," he said, his amusement genuine. "Don't bump my head into anything!"

"The ceilings are not so low!" Orodreth laughed as he took Dior's hands, noting just for a moment how pleasant they felt in his own. Despite his reassurances, he had to promptly reroute the path he was leading the prince down, to avoid his head colliding unexpectedly with a lantern Orodreth had never before imagined would be a danger to anybody.

Slowly and with care, he continued to lead his companion around a corner and what was a small bridge connecting a round raised pavilion to the king's apartments. The space the king usually referred to as the breakfast room hovered above the garden view, the previous verdant air as lush there as it was down along the neat paths among the greenery. Somewhere below a fountain was singing its invigorating song.

Orodreth stopped in the arched entrance of the pavilion and paused to gaze at Dior's face, captivated by how striking the soft light of the space made him look. Perhaps he was very tall, but entirely too handsome for the Nargothrondrim king to ever reconsider the prospect of marriage.

"You can open your eyes now", Orodreth said finally. Behind him, in the middle of the room, a round table stood laden with cut and carved fruit of various kinds arranged in intricate pillars. At the foot of the colourful structures bowls of fresh cream and baked oats awaited to be served with fragrant tea.

Admittedly a little pleased with himself, Orodreth went to the table and picked up a strawberry. He bit into it while observing his guests reaction curiously. "Do you like it?"
