My country didn’t have a recent war , but had a regime so my parents pull that too. Like did you know when I was your age you couldn’t travel and there was 1 apple in the store and then later it got worse because XYZ.

But I think almost all parents worldwide pull that even if they lived in the most peaceful country ever. Like it’s a parents thing. I know people from one of the most well off countries in Europe (where I would argue life was better and easier 20-40 years ago) and a woman I know’s parents tell her “When I was your age I didn’t have financial debt and already bought a house, look at you with your debt and you don’t even have your own house or live with your boyfriend yet..” she isn’t even 30

Like parents will just find ways to invalidate your shit or make you feel bad even if someone shot a sniper at you…

This might seem like 'that one friend whose too woke' core but hear me out the hatred for girlbloggers and the general dislike for things that are traditionally considered 'girly' is rooted in misogyny. Even on Tumblr, arguably one of the more liberal sites on the internet, you'll still see a lot of people going out of their way to hate on girlbloggers(mostly teenage girls) and accusing them of not having a personality.

Just because a girl wants her blog to be a certain aesthetic doesn't mean that she doesn't have a personality. There are literally thousands of aesthetics on here and so many blogs dedicated to those aesthetics but they never get accused of being stupid or having no personality. The constant association of 'typically girly/feminine' with stupid really shows that women and girls are perceived as brainless chimps and anyone who likes things that are traditionally catered to females is also a brainless chimp

Liking pink doesn't make a girl stupid, liking lana Del Rey doesn't make a girl stupid, liking Pinterest whispers on girlhood doesn't make a girl stupid, wearing dresses doesn't make a girl stupid. And thinking it does is misogyny
