artie abrams. drummer. 24. So a funny thing happened on my way to La-La Land. I discovered my old man's an ex-NFL legend, and now I'm living out here pulling double duty as a teacher by day, and drummer for the band fiyero by night. i'm also dating ava fabray, but that's on the down-low. Or it is until the reality show starts to air. it's ava, her daughter quinn and me. what's the worst that could happen?

Quinn: Alright, but don't let her hear you say that, Artie. No worries though, my lips are sealed.

Quinn: I promise I am. I would really like to see a live show. Hah-- you don't know her as well as you think you do, do you?

Artie: That's a good point, you're right. I won't. Thank you for that.

Artie: Okay, good then. Then I'll make sure you're on the next guest list. Hmm, maybe I don't then. That seems rough though, she won't share the spotlight with her daughter? I get me, but still.

Quinn: Well I guess so; I just don't want to create animosity between you and her is all. Oh gosh. Really?

Quinn: No it really is though. Yeah? I'd like that, actually. Yeah, she's just a little... much. And she'd get all mad if I stole camera time, you know.

Artie: Oh don't worry about that, it'll be fine. She's not around, we are. I think that means we deserve to get what we want.

Artie: Well, if you're sure? And for sure! So would I. She can be a bit much, that's true. But you're her daughter, she really wouldn't would she?

Quinn: Well thank you Artie, I appreciate it then. I haven't eaten either, lol. I just didn't want to get something she would be annoyed about.

Quinn: Yeah, but that's okay. Honestly, that sounds fun! If I'd known she wasn't there, I definitely would have. I just can't deal with her when she gets around a rowdy crowd.

Artie: You're welcome Quinn. No? Well far as I can tell she has no right to be annoyed, this is for us anyways. Maybe we'll just have to eat it all.

Artie: It isn't though. Really? Well maybe next time then? Really? Well, I get that.

Quinn: Well that was rude. I'm sorry. Alright, well if you're sure you don't mind?

Quinn: It's been alright, thank you. Pretty quiet honestly. How was the show?

Artie: Oh it's okay, I really don't mind. And sure! I'm happy to do it, plus I'm hungry too and I can eat anything, lol.

Artie: That's good, but aw man really? Maybe you should've come out instead then. Um, if you were feeling up to some live music, I mean.

Quinn: You don't know where she is? Aren't you supposed to be with her? Uh... I don't know. I guess maybe Chinese? She'd probably want that for leftovers.

Artie: No, she left a while ago. Er, just didn't feel like watching the show I guess. Okay, Chinese sounds good, I'll get enough for both of us, and I'm sure there'll be some left over.

Artie: How's your night been?

Quinn: Hey, Artie! Oh, thanks! I guess whatever you're grabbing for my mom is fine?

Artie: Hi! You're welcome, actually she's not here, I'm not sure where she is actually tonight. So what do YOU want?

Artie: Hey Quinn! We're just wrapping up our gig now, are you hungry? Want me to stop on the way home for anything?

It was rare that Quinn got to go out with a younger group of people, mostly because she was always at her mother’s beckon call. It was the price of being the daughter of a celebrity. While the reality show had brought her some fame, still Quinn felt like a shadow. So at first she enjoyed the attention she was getting. Compliments rained on her, and sultry eyes wandered; it felt unusual, but nice. After several drinks though the youngest Fabray was reminded of why she didn’t often crave the spotlight that came with being any type of celebrity– not even a B-Lister such as herself. One guy in particular just would not take no for an answer. At first he seemed cute, and while she didn’t mind eyes on her, hands were a whole new level. He kept finding ways to score a touch and she was sick of it. Quinn had told him she had a boyfriend, which was a blatant lie, but in order to get him to back off. It had zero effect– only egged him on more. And the slap she initiated he’d just considered as some kinky foreplay. Rushing to the bathroom, relief settled in after she texted Artie and he promised to come to her rescue. She hid in there until receiving a text that he had arrived. Realization kicked in at that very moment that anyone who watched the show would piece together that he was her mom’s boy toy, and not hers. But it was too late. She sucked in a breath and hoped the other party-goers were even more inebriated that she was, and wouldn’t take notice. Sneaking out of the restroom, she spotted the familiar… friend? Roommate? Future… she didn’t even know what to consider Artie anymore. Her emotions were blurring the lines.

Without thinking (perhaps she could blame the alcohol), Quinn threw her arms around the familiar face and squeezed him tight. “Thank you for coming,” she whispered into his ear, but she could feel the eyes of the creep glued to her again.

Artie was becoming increasingly conflicted in the reality-drama that had overtaken his life. He was still dating Judy Fabray... technically. But they barely saw one another anymore, despite living in the same house and if it wasn’t for the always-present cameras Artie was convinced she would have called it quits weeks ago. And if she hadn’t... he was pretty certain that he would have. Really, Artie was sticking it out and not attempting to break free of the contract for another reason... Quinn. They’d become much better friends than initially; roughly the same age and both finding the cameras beyond intrusive, Artie found it much easier to talk to her... and he was now finding himself far more interested in her than he’d ever been in her mother. Complicated to say the least, there’d been more than a few times he’d privately cursed that he’d met Judy first. Even if they broke it off, which was coming at some point in the future, no question, it was highly unlikely that Quinn could ever show interest beyond polite friendship with him.

Still, receiving a text from her asking for help, Artie practically broke landspeed records to get over to the party she was at. It was clear she’d been drinking and was vulnerable, trying to stay away from some guy who clearly had issues taking no for an answer. As he entered the house and searched for Quinn, Artie sent her a text reply back to let her know he’d arrived. Not too long after that he saw her emerge from a mass of people and head straight for him, throwing her arms around him in a giant hug. He tried not to read much into it, since he was supposed to be playing her boyfriend, but he returned the embrace and squeezed Quinn tightly. She whispered into his ear a thank-you for coming to the party, and Artie took a moment before doing the same and whispering back into her ear a response. “Don’t worry about it, I’m happy I could help. How are you doing?”

Artie: Don't listen to her, none of that is true.

Artie: Then let me come and help you out of a jam, okay?

Artie: You're never a burden, Q, don't think that. And that's okay too, you're allowed to be. ;)

Artie: If you're okay with it, then I am. This guy needs to take the hint, and I'm happy to fill that role for you.

Artie: But what if you weren't? Maybe your boyfriend will just show up?

Artie: Okay, but still that's not cool. I'll still come to you.

Artie: And it didn't work?

Artie: Are you serious? You really need help?

Artie: Well I still want to make sure it's a show you have fun at. You're welcome, we've got some shirts made up, I just didn't think you meant you'd want to wear one of ours. ;) It's absolutely a yes! Is this a costume party though?
