Nivellen’s eyes fell on the Witcher as he took in every word that uttered from his lips. He nodded his head slowly as he twisted his tusked mouth. 

“You broke his heart.”

Geralt did not say a word. Instead he lowered his head towards the floor, avoiding his friend’s prying gaze. But Nivellen did not need to hear the answer to his assumptions, for Geralt’s silence proved his words to be true. 

Nivellen walked over towards him, resting his firm hand on Geralt’s shoulder. He gazed out of the window in front of him and watched as the snow fell like petals onto the ground, painting his garden white with each drop. 

“It seems my friend,” Nivellen spoke, a dreary sigh parting his lips. “That no matter how hard we try to suppress the beast in side of us, we will always be cursed to hurt the ones we love.” 

Geralt shrugged his friend’s hand off his shoulder, an exasperated huff concealing his displeasure at his friend’s words. But Nivellen noticed and could not help but stare at him with pity.

“Take it from me, my boy.” Nivellen continued, “a life without love… is a life well spent.” 

And with that Nivellen left the Witcher alone in the dining hall with nothing but the crackling fireplace to keep his fragile heart warm.

Designed a mock-cover for this year’s NaNo project.

End of day two, and we’re clocking in just under 5k words! Super excited to see how far I can actually get into this story before RL kicks me in the teeth. This is a plot I’m really passionate about, I’ve been toying with the outline in the back of my head for a couple years now, and I can’t wait to finally be able to share it.

I’m going into this with the expectation that I will not get even remotely close to completing this, but we’re going to give this a shot. 

At the same time, I’m going to try and give this “remembering to actually use the social media page I created for my writing” thing a try too. Also expect I will fail this as much as I always have in the past...

Victory!

I’ve always done my best writing on the train to and from work - I don’t know why, for some reason it’s just the place where my brain can focus somehow. (Possibly because the wifi on the train is patchy at best, so the most it can usually manage is my google docs, which kills a lot of my normal distractions.) 

You guys know how much the quarantines annihilated my writing/posting schedules (i.e. it taking months for a new chapter on anything.) Well things in my area have finally started opening up again, and I’ve finally been able to start taking the train to work again. 

And in just one week of writing on the commute, I managed to accomplish what I’ve been struggling with for nearly six months now - I completed the final chapter of “Once and For All.” 

It still needs to go through an edit or two for clarity, but I’m planning to get that posted over the weekend. Thank you all so much for your patience, I know this story has been a grueling slog (this one alone has taken me twice as long to write as the previous two books combined) but we’re finally at the finish line.

As I keep struggling with this final section of Once and for all, Watch What Happens, I think I finally understand why so many series split the final into two parts. Mockingjay pt. 1 & 2, Deathly Hallows pt. 1 & 2...

I've been fighting and trimming out so much to try and keep the story down to the same general length of the first two books, but it feels like it's coming as a detriment to the story.

TL;DR - Artie does not understand the concept of being "concise" so the supposed last chapter of story might not actually be the last.

I hate writing endings. Not only is there that sadness of losing something, of goodbyes, but there's also just so much pressure to make it perfect. Not from others, from me. And the longer I've been with the story, the harder it gets.

Which is my tragic, whiny artist way of saying I'm still stuck on the final chapter of "Once and for All."

I know it's been a million years since I've posted anything, so I'm sorry to all of my readers who've been waiting for updates. My main writing time has always been done on the train to and from work, but then quarantine happened...

However, the trains are finally running again in my area, so I've been slowly making progress again. I know it's been ages but updates are coming, I promise!

Just wanted to check in and let any of my readers who might be wondering if that next chapter will ever come. I'm not dead, I'm finally getting to set aside a little time for writing again, and I'm excited to finish and share all this stuff I started during quarantine and haven't had the focus to actually write.

More Trash-post Fanfics...

So I’ve done stuff like this in a couple other fandoms, but I think I’m long overdue for one in the Newsies fandom (Since it’s now the fandom I’ve written the most works for at this point.) I have a bunch of ideas floating around for silly tropes and oneshots, so I thought I’d combine them into one big project.

So, that epilogue to my Christmas Newsies fic that I promised... Not actually finished writing it yet. Close, but not quite. Turns out working 12 hours days to prep for your vacation (and then having to do a hasty packing & house cleaning for said vacation) really cuts into writing time. 

I’m still going to try and get it up before Christmas (I’m going to write on the plane to kill time, so hopefully I can get it finished then and can post from the hotel room at night.)

In place of the promised Christmas fic, I’m going to instead post a new chapter of the Hunger Games AU. So, yeah, instead of Christmas schmoop and fluff, you get graphic violence and feels.

NaNoWriMo Update

Officially just broke over 40k words today! I’m psyched as hell about that, I’m not only caught up to where I should be at this part of the month but almost 5k ahead.

And I only just barely started Act 4 of the book, meaning I’m probably about halfway... 

Side note, writing this one is A LOT harder than writing the first two was. Not only am I far less familiar with the source material (I’ve only ever read Mockingjay once way back when it first came out, and I haven’t actually watched the movies...) but this one is so politically and emotionally heavy, without the action to break up the pacing as much. 

On the plus side, it is giving me a chance to really grow and develop some of the characters you guys have been waiting for. So far, expanded Sarah’s character, and introduced Crutchie as a genius badass because he’s my precious boi and I love him. Can’t say much about any others because it’ll give away the end of the second book, but I’m super excited to share it all with you guys.

NaNoWriMo - Day 17 Update

- Officially broke 30k words today! 

- If you think the angst of “Proud and Defiant” has been bad, you are so not prepared for “Watch What Happens.” Dear God, I didn’t realize how bad I jumped on the angst train until I went back to post the newest chapter of “Proud and Defiant,” which picks up immediately after I murdered a character last chapter, and it seemed weirdly pleasant in comparison to what I’ve been writing.

- My productivity has been murdered by the fact that Disney+ launched. The nostalgia of my childhood is real, folks. 

- On that note, I discovered that 92′s-ies is on Disney+ and I plan to watch it. I haven’t actually seen it since the 90s, so it’ll be an interesting experience to watch it again after all this time, and the fact that I’ve now seen Newsies Live a couple hundred times... 

- Even though I shouldn’t open myself up to new project, I’m currently taking prompts & requests for Holiday/Winter-themed Newsies fics. I’m going to need the chance to write something cute and fluffy after this month. 

- And lastly, my Westie got a new sweater and he’s the most adorable little posh puff ever. Expect pictures to follow because I’m in love with his goofy face.
