In that space, defined only by your goddamn head and not anything in the air at all, your limbs were heavy and your thoughts slow. You considered and ultimately discarded the idea about telling the kids. It would be torture for them. They might tell someone. Rhea might be denied even the possibility of hearing about them through you.

No. You’ve got to carry on like normal.

Making some bogus excuse at work about catching something awful, you spend a few days in bed, aching but dry-eyed, until you can handle the world again.

On Monday, Aug. 21, the moon will cast a 70-mile-wide shadow by slipping between Earth and the sun. This event, a total solar eclipse, will be “turning daylight into twilight, causing the temperature drop rapidly.” 

According to Parade, the last time a total eclipse made its way across the mainland of the country was 1,581 years ago on July 29, 436.

And the next eclipse of this caliber won’t take place until Jan. 25, 2316. Read more (7/28/17)
