Leaning over, she picked up a small bottle of liquid. "We'll give her two drops and see how that does. I'd also recommend gently massaging her stomach and moving her legs to help as well."

Taking the dropper out of the bottle, she very carefully deposited two tiny drops into the baby's mouth. She couldn't help but laugh at the way her little face scrunched at the flavor.

"I know, little one, it doesn't taste good, but it's to help you feel better."

He resisted as long as he could, letting the medicine work, but it was only a minute or two before weapon roughened hands reached for Carys, gently lifting her and cradling her to Bedwyr's chest. Though the babe was still clearly not enjoying the drops, her tongue pushed repeatedly out from between her lips, as if trying to push the liquid out of her mouth, and her little brows were furrowed, but she locked her eyes on Bedwyr's face, and her body was beginning to relax more, the longer she was held.

"Thank you..." the warrior finally said, turning to face Niamh after a moment or two of eye contact with Carys. "I'm sure I seem a fool, worrying so about something so... trivial. This is new for me, as I am sure is obvious. But I'd rather feel foolish than heartbroken, should it have been something worse."

Okay, so this is official hiatus notice.

I won't go into details, but these past 2 months have been among the worst in my life.

I won't give a timeline of when I'll be back, cause who the fuck knows when that will be.

I'll downgrade it to semi-hiatus. Things have at least calmed down a little, just sort of dealing with the after effects.

So semi-hiatus means that I may make a post/reply here and there, but there's no guarantee of timeliness or frequency.

His golden eyes were comically large as he stared into the opened bag, uncharacteristically speechless for a moment. "How did..." Anders was in utter disbelief. This couldn't be what he thought it was. It couldn't be.

But it was. Soft green stems and leaf bases, purple leaf edges and tips, soft and almost velvety texture, and the medicinal smell were all clear. He didn't need to consult his few herbology books. This was royal elfroot.

"How in the world did you even get this? It's fresh." These weren't dried or pressed herbs, which would be expensive enough, being royal elfroot instead of the 'mundane' variety. But fresh? "I thought it didn't grow this far north, too hot..." Finally, Anders managed to tear his eyes away to look up at Margo. "This must have cost a fortune, Hawke."

But oh, the uses he could put this herb to. Stronger healing potions, poison cures, actually effective burn poultices. This bag, only a few pounds of plants, could save lives, provide better outcomes, fewer scars and limitations after healing.

"I... I don't know how I'll be able to repay you."

"I'm glad you got out..." It was the first time they had a chance to actually have a proper conversation since they'd run into each other again. All the fighting, and the darkspawn, the confrontation with Rylock, and then the Joining and its recuperation... they'd never really had a chance to actually sit and talk, had they?

Now in the keep's mess hall, with bowls of stew, and bread before them, they could actually speak about something without time weighing down on their shoulders.

"I heard a little, about what happened. The templars that had caught me were talking about you a lot. I'm sorry about Jowan..." Anders understood Jowan's fear, and his desperation to escape. Anders had done that plenty of times himself. But he'd never implicated or endangered the other mages in the tower. If this Duncan hadn't been there, hadn't recruited Elysia... Anders doubted she'd be alive now. Mages almost never left Aeonar.

"That's an... interesting wound there..." The healer's fingers glowed a gentle blue as they hovered over Celia's back. Most people, if they were going to stab someone in the back, did so right in the middle, where it could do the most damage. This was off to the side, just below the blade of her shoulder.

"You're lucky it managed to just be a flesh wound. A few inches deeper and the knife would have gotten your lung."

"Cheating! Marian, he's cheating!" Anders' long finger pointed at Ren, who sat across from him at the table, playing cards arranged neatly in front of him. "It's just... it's not possible. It's not. Are you doing something to make him win?"

It shouldn't be possible, it really shouldn't, that Anders was losing this Diamondback game to a dog.

"How are you holding up?" The Herald approached Cassandra at her place at the campfire slowly, reaching out to offer her a small tin cup of steaming tea. The Hinterlands were cold at night, even now in the spring. He hoped the warmth would be welcome.

"I know that some of the soldiers have been... less than welcoming to mages. Despite everything." They thought a mage like Anders was the 'Herald of Andraste', but some still turned their nose up at other mages. Typical.

The words were meaningless of course, they both knew that. Even as he said them, Anders was packing his meager supplies in his thin, worn pack. He hated that mountain, he really did. It was chilly and damp there, all the bloody time, and the resident elves weren't exactly friendly with humans, not that he blamed them.

Besides, they didn't need him to go with them. Merrill was going, it was the home, at least at present, of her clan. They didn't need him to tag along, he was sure.

But he was packing anyway, dammit all.

"And all on the word of a strange elf you've never met before who probably set you up in that ambush in the first place." Anders spoke while Hawke packed her bag, his eyes tracking her as she walked to and fro from pack to wardrobe. "Do you really think she actually managed to secure a legitimate invitation to this... Duke's party? How would she even get one?"

It was all too... too strange. And convenient, and suspicious to boot. And Anders couldn't understand why Hawke agreed to it all in the first place.

"Blight crazed dwarves..." They'd hardly gotten into this... fortress? Castle? Whatever it was, and they'd already had to dispatch more than ten of these things. Hawke and Varric had described them as 'crazy', but not said anything else, but Anders could feel the Taint on them from many meters away.

"How in the world did you get mixed up with all this, Hawke? How?!"
