Llyn Foulkes @ New Museum
*again with the no pictures. again, i had to sneak a few. i understand no flash, but i really don't understand why all these museums won't allow pictures, which would help share the artist's work on a greater scale.
regardless, this was my first introduction to the work of Llyn Foulkes and i LOVED loved LOVED it! loved seeing his progression through the years, loved seeing him reach and search and push himself with each decade. loved seeing his palate go from dark to light and dark again. inspiring and amazing!
no photos allowed at Paul McCarthy at the Armory.
understandably, as there are scenes reminicent of Pasolini mixed with distorted Disneyan bacchanalia. my favorite was the long bunker of video chambers showing everything from snow white giving the microphone head to the prince beating off in the garden.
truth be told i snuck a few on my phone, but out of respect to the performers and the artist, i will not post them here
James Turrell @theGuggenheim
no pictures allowed. sorry hard-working museum guards, i managed to sneak off a few anyways. #artis4thepeople

Art rules! at Frieze New York
Screw the naysayers, Frieze New York was the best art fair experience i've had so far! i loved the remote venue, Randall's Island, mostly due to the comfy, free bus Joe Fresh provided from their 5th ave. location. Loved that it wasn't too crowded (i went on the Friday), there were multiple food choices, iced coffee, terraces, beautiful porto-potties, and a breezy waterfront setting. The best art in the world was represented, and it was amazing to see what was coming out of Tokyo and Brussels and Istanbul and Vienna. As usual, the Brits had the strongest art, but the Italians were the best dressed. I ran into my friend Colin and we saw Jeffrey Deitch and that was a thrill! The fashion was amazing, and not on 20-somethings. The older, international art set pride individuality, elegance and eccentricity above all, and it's completely inspiring! The people-watching was fantastic.
And then there was the art, oh the art..just amazing..
Introduced to many new artists i had not been familiar with, Johen Lampert, Apostolos Georgiu, Geert Goiris, James Casebere, Matthew Metzger, Alfredo Jaar, Nicola L.. And saw some fantastic pieces by old favorites, Gillian Wearing, Anish Kapoor, Marina Abramovic, Rodney Graham, Jenny Holzer, Richard Prince..and so many more.
Let art rule!
