I've enjoyed crocheting more stuffed items. The Pokeball makes me so happy.
Just some fun little things I've done. The Totoro friends and dust sprites were done for a friend. I also did another Octocat picture. The Pinetree baby was another mash-up someone asked me to do. The last is a miniature picture I did for a clock. I was planning to draw a picture for each frame. I hope you enjoy!
I made a mash-up of a donut(doughnut?) And unicorn. I used markers on the unicorn and colored pencils on the rainbow and background. I thought it was so fabulous that I wanted to immortalize it as an amigurumi. I only got so far as to crochet a pretty neat doughnut(donut?). I still haven't finished lol
So, a friend bought me a Star Wars crochet kit around May this year. It came with a book of patterns, enough yarn for Yoda and a stormtrooper, a 3.5mm crochet hook, a needle, and stuffing. This is the first time I have really ever crocheted. This type of technique and doll is known as amigurumi. I had never heard of it before, but after looking it up, I saw there are endless amounts of ideas and things you can create. A whole new creative world opened up for me, and I dove right in to devour it. It took awhile for me to figure out how to read the patterns. Then I struggled with counting stitches. I also had problems with sewing the arms and such on. It was definitely a learning experience, and it took me a lot of redoing to get right. I loved every minute of it though. Learning new crafts is so exciting.
So, this was my first ever artsnackschallenge! It has taken me way too long to post it. I have to say, it was the best decision ever to buy a subscription. Getting new supplies to work with every month is great, and the added inspiration to do the challenge is great. What is the artsnackschallenge? It's a challenge to use the supplies in that months box. I adore it. The March supplies were fun to work with. I've never really worked with paint markers before, so it was interesting to use them for the body and highlights. It also was fun figuring out how to only use the limited colors in the box. I figured the purple pencil would be great for outlines, and I was pleasantly surprised that it could color on the paint for the shading on Octocat. The green pencil is one of those woodless ones. I used it for the eyes and background. The box also had a pretty nifty sharpener included. All in all, I feel it was worth the money. :D If you also took the challenge, please share your creations with me! I love seeing what everyone comes up with!
Hello Again!!
I know, I know... I disappeared again. I've been having a lot of issues because of deaths in the family. My mother passed away, and that hit hard. So! I have been hiding. Haha. I have embraced the art of crochet during this hard time though. That is always fun! Now! Onward to the art! I will be posting some things here shortly. :D
So, while I try and get myself motivated to take pictures, here are some random mashup drawings colored with Sharpies! I bought them to try out the pinterest idea of drawing on and then baking dishes. I will post about that later. I definitely didnât realize they were so versatile. It wasnât too hard to blend the colors. I had a lot of fun with the vase of blooming keys. The lilies particularly.
In hind sight, I sort of wish I had practiced using these permanent markers before investing in the Copics that I am still hesitant to use. Haha. Sharpie markers are a lot less expensive. I got a variety color pack of 24 for, like, $25. 24 Copic markers would have been 8 times as expensive. For good reason, obviously. They are amazing, but practicing with cheaper markers first would have been a good idea lol
I accidentally posted this on my personal tumblr.... Pfft I am NOT retyping all those tags.
I am so sorry for disappearing! I have still been creating, but have majorly slacked on updating this blog. I have plans on making a few posts soon, including a few artsnacks challenges! So stay tuned for that. I also picked up a needle felting kit to play with, and it has been a lot of fun figuring it out. :3 I will leave you with this grey scale version of one of my challenges. I hope it can curb your appetite for now!
It is time!
I saw this idea online and wanted to try it out myself. It is just ballpoint pen on cardstock.
In other news! I am crazy excited! My first box from artsnacks will be coming soon! I canât wait to discover some new supplies. :D
Finished my first clay craft. I am so excited. I also subscribed to a year of art snackers, so I am going to have a lot of fun with that!
Finally nabbed myself some sculpey oven bake polymer clay. I am so excited. My friend loves these little guys, so I made her one for a keyboard or necklace. I am not finished. It needs sanded, painted, and glazed, but I think I did well for my first time actually making something like this
I tried out some texturing with modeling clay
I want to start making clay charms, so I started playing with modeling clay for practice. The octopus makes me happy. I made it after watching a video by coolricebunnies. The pikachu I made out of my head. I have now learned that clay gets dirty easily. I saw tips saying to use rubbing alcohol to clean it up, so I will try that when I am more serious and using polymer clay. For now, I am just practicing and getting a feel for it. :D
One day soon I plan to get a subscription to an amazingly perfect (for my name)monthly loot box called Art Snacks. It will give me the motivation to try out new things every month so I don't have as much trouble with artist's block. I am really excited about it!
So happy to finally unveil what we have in store for 2016. Canât believe weâll finally be able to call A9 the new âwoodenâ doll :)
ONE WEEK AWAY! Â www.armaturenine.com
Neat
Holy butts I want one
So I accidentally forgot this was on the porch and the cold cracked the paint when dried. In other news, the painting with plastic still on it is still not dry.
Despite the cracks, the foot and handprints are cute.
