#ok yeah I think I need to rant about this… it’s been bothering me for days #so earlier this week I was watching a video that advertised itself as being full of positivity about the apollo justice trilogy #and it definitely was that at first… and the rest of it probably is too idk #but then the guy started going on this huge rant about one line from dual destinies #specifically the line I reblogged recently about how clay is the reason apollo is still a lawyer today #he was going on about how that line was incompetent writing and did more harm than good because it supposedly retconned #the actual reason apollo came back to the agency… and it made me so upset that I stopped the video and I still haven’t finished it #I mean I GUESS I can understand where he’s coming from… like yeah phoenix is a good judge of character and he knew apollo would come back #because 1. he had nowhere else to go and 2. he represents that hope for the future… so it was basically part of phoenix’s plan all along #and like yeah I can agree with that… apollo is young and passionate and being a lawyer is basically his lifelong dream #he has a good heart and he cares so much about others and about finding the truth and doing the right thing…#like yeah of course he’d come back eventually… but is it really so wrong for encouragement from a friend to play a part in that?#this guy was acting like it was total character assassination and ruined a perfectly good story just because clay encouraged apollo #which I just… can’t agree with… and he also said clay was the one who encouraged apollo to go visit phoenix again which is just factually #wrong?? apollo just says that clay told him ‘you’re fine! don’t give up!’ and refused to let him quit… that’s all #I mean he could’ve encouraged him to go visit phoenix we don’t know the full conversation but canonically that line isn’t there…#and why can’t both things be true? apollo made the decision to go back to the agency himself AND clays encouragement helped him to get to #that point… like if we assume they had that conversation in the immediate aftermath of turnabout trump it still took apollo #almost 2 months to finally drag himself back to wright anything agency… makes sense that he couldn’t bring himself to do it before #even with encouragement cuz MAN he went through a lot that day… finding out your trusted mentor is a murderer AND losing your dream job #after your first real case AND the person you looked up to for so long betraying your trust and forging evidence to win the case #AND punching said person?? that’s a whole lot of horrible stuff to go through especially all in 1 day at the tender age of 22 #even more so in hindsight with the context soj gives us about his childhood but even without that!! bro was in a dark place is it really #so wrong for him to have a friend to talk to about it after all that?? is it really character assassination for him to not shoulder that #huge burden alone and have a friend to encourage him and be a ray of light in that awful situation?? for him to have a little support??#he’s already suffered so much you want him to suffer MORE?? completely alone?? without anyone to talk to?? ironic considering his arc #in dual destinies… very ironic indeed… man I don’t know I just love dual destinies I love clay I love his friendship with apollo #and im tired of seeing people hate on it even in positivity posts… but yeah I just really needed to get that off my chest #I might go back and finish the video later… I did enjoy it up to that point and it was just one singular tangent after all #the guy himself said it was just one line he could ignore and im sure he has plenty more good things to say about the trilogy… but yeah
