Selfishness Explained (or not)
Life is made of actions and reactions. And to declare yourself as someone who is 100% altruist is almost the same thing as telling someone elephants are pink and they can fly singing korean pop songs. No one is altruist at the core and to some extent no charity is fully for the others in need. People are always looking for acceptance and it includes acceptance of him/herself. No one wants to be someone one is ashamed of. I can hate others, but I will always find ways to love myself because this is the so called survival instinct. If I don't care for myself, why should I care to exist and to avoid harmful dangers? This is where selfishness habitates. In the survival instinct. At some point this is confusing, because there's no way to say that being selfish is wrong, because we are meant to survive or the human race or no living thing at all would survive. However selfishness probably is the thing that led humanity to the wrong way. Eve was tempted by the snake and she fell for it. Yes, she was tricked in her faulty understanding by the snake, but the snake pulled out something that already existed. The desire for more, the desire of being accepted/recognized as Someone worthy of admiration and respect. This means selfishness was already there before the first sin. This means God did put this instict in humanity's core, which means God gave man the ability of choosing, and by this the ability of sinning. Taking these facts into consideration, God doesn't lock us in His holy molds. He from the very beggining gave us the possibility of choosing, for He is looking for REAL love, not blind and meaningless obedience. In His point of view, real love demands sacrifice and this original selfishness can only be overcomed by this sacrifice of my natural instinct of loving myself. So, yes. We are selfish people in the core, but this selfishness gives legitimacy to the sacrifices we make for love. God is not a mean kid playing with toys. He is a self fulfilling God in essence and in love. Love produces fruits like sex produces new born humans. The creation of humanity and all other things are reflexes of His perfect love in his perfect but mysterious (confusing to be more sincere) trinity. He, unlike us, has no need to feel accepted. We are a result of His nature and He has no need to fool Himself making humankind artificially loving him to feel OK with Himself. That's why there's condemnation but there's also salvation. For he knows passion (moment) is an explosion of emotions, which changes according to internal and external conditions. But to love is a combination of supressing choices and it demands brutal sacrifices. Myself.
