Relationships: Keith x Allura (romantic), Pidge x Lance (romantic), Hunk x Romelle (romantic), Allura x Lance (one-sided), Allura x Romelle (bffs!)

Summary: Keith and Allura are having trouble keeping their little meetings a secret. Lance is becoming increasingly suspicious about why Keith and Allura want so much alone time together and Pidge is just trying to keep Lance from barging in on them fucking. And Hunk and Romelle are starting to catch onto this drama, and their curiosity just might get the better of them.

A/N: There’s lots of fluff in this but also some smut! I hope you enjoy!

Everyone was sitting around a campfire in their paladin armor and Lance was singing a song for them as they ate the food that Hunk made them for dinner.

“Let’s gather ‘round the campfire and sing our campfire song.” Lance sang and strummed his guitar. “Our c.a.m.p.f.i.r.e.s.o.n.g song and if you don’t think that we can sing it faster than you’re wrong but it’ll help if you just sing along….”

“Bum. bum. bum.” Pidge and Hunk sang from either side of Keith.

“C.a.m.p.f.i.r.e.s.o.n.g!” Lance shouted and strummed his guitar really hard.

“C.a.m.p.f.i.r.e.s.o.n.g!” He, Pidge and Hunk all shouted together and sang fast. “And if you don’t think that you can sing it faster than we’re wrong, but it’ll help if you just sing along!”

“C.a.m.p.f.i.r.e.s.o.n.g! Hunk!” Lance points to him.

“Song! C.a.m.p.f.i.r.e-” Hunk sings as fast as he can.

“Keith!” Lance points to next.

Keith just stares at him and blinks.

“Good!” Lance says. “It’ll helllllp! It’ll hellllp if you just sing alllllooooonnnnggg!”

Pidge grabs a big hunk of junk that she had taken from her room in the castle and smashed it on the ground a few times. Lance grabbed something too and smashed it as well.

“Oh yeah!” They both scream.

When Keith was rescuing Shiro he took the same path that he raced Shiro on when he was a Cadet and took the leap off the edge, the exact leap he wasn’t ready to do before, yet for Shiro he did that.

Keith and his Scar

Just to put it to rest, it's a burn scar and not a Galra mark.

Here is the point which he receives his scar

And you can see that right after he gets it, his eyes are normal.

He didn't go Galra like he did earlier in the fight. He just realized that the man he viewed as a brother was going to kill him, and the only solution was to cut his arm off. He goes Galra right at that moment when he decides the only way to stop Shiro is to cut off the very thing that is controlling him. It's a split second decision that ultimately resolves the battle and Keith's own growth and maturity.

So I wanna talk about language in That Scene™ because let’s be real the last 5 mins of The Black Paladins is all any of us is gonna talk about for the next 4 months.

I’m sure someone has already covered this but whatever, here we go, That Scene in Japanese. Because I find it V E R Y interesting.

This one is the same in the closed caption and the dialogue and translates evenly from English. “Shiro, please. You’re my brother. I love you.” This has no more or less weight than what he says in English. ;)

But then there’s the Japanese version. OH MY GOD. What Keith says: “Shiro I beg you. You’re my brother. I love you”

What he uses for love is 愛してる (aishiteru), which is…. not a word commonly heard in Japan? It means deep, powerful love and it’s rarely used even between spouses (though tbh affectionate love language between couples isn’t a thing in Japan the way it is in the Western world). It’s why when you’re watching anime, a deep confession moment comes in the form of “suki desu” (I like you), or “dai suki desu” (I REALLY like you) because that in and of itself is a big deal. Aishiteru can be used within families of course, but typically it’s for parents (moms) to their kids. Brother-to-brother it’d be rare to hear and definitely legendary-rare between friends. While not necessarily inherently romantic, aishiteru is a BIG word and a big deal because it conveys clearly what Keith feels for Shiro. Shiro is his everything.

And what I find pretty interesting is when I turn on the subs for the Japanese version, instead of just saying 愛してる(aishiteru), what it says on the screen is 心から愛してる… I love you with all of my heart.
