You ever notice the amount of Buddie scenes where you just ask yourself why are you guys hanging out right now.

For example that scene where Eddie is packing for El Paso and Buck is there playing with a toy dinosaur.

I know it's for exposition but like they rarely have a goal when they hang out. It's pretty much just proximity hang outs. Like there is no shared hobby, concert, bar, nor activity that doesn't include exposition.

Like Eddie and Tommy hung out to watch fights and play basketball. Maddie and dispatch did karaoke nights. When they were still friends Maddie and Chim hung out they had hang outs like karaoke too. Athena and Hen are hanging out at a bar. The girls have wine night. Buck hanging out at a bar with Ravi.

That's how friend hang outs work they make plans picking a setting and an activity.

When it is just Buck and Eddie they only seem to hang out when they are going to talk about something and deal with how their life is going. Maybe with a beer or two. Buck just goes to Eddie's house all the time to just plop on the couch. Other than that it's a hang out with Chris like the dinners, child activities, and baking. These two like being next to each other for no reason. They always will have each other's back when the other one needs it.

genuinely I can't stop laughing at the fact that it's a canon buddie dynamic that eddie just goes around doing vaguely evil and illegal shit and buck follows him going surely this is all perfectly legally sound because eddie - my eddie, the paragon of goodness with a silver star - would never do anything illegal. but then again what else could I have expected from buck 'follows eddie diaz into what he suspects is a mob establishment with zero questions' buckley

I’m still in disbelief by how easily Buck just launched Eddie into the air like how

"this whole thing between us" is basically eddie admitting he’s emotionally perceptive enough to know buck is in love with him but too self-unaware to realize he feels the same, which is a wild dynamic to bring into canon

i haven’t been able to stop thinking about this. especially since, ever since season 8 i keep seeing people talk about the look on eddie’s face when buck tells him he’s going to be his subletter as him realizing that he’s in love with buck BUT!!! when i saw that scene the only thing i could think was that that was the moment eddie realized that BUCK loved EDDIE.

he knew about abby. buck was LIVING IN HER APARTMENT when eddie showed up. he was waiting for her when they met. he was there when buck gave up and he was there when she showed up again and he saw how affected buck was by it all.

he knows what it means for buck to even OFFER to do that. its the most obvious show of love buck can make. “remember the woman who was the love of my life when we met? remember how i became a ghost in her home while she went off without me? remember how badly that hurt me? i’ll still take that risk on you.”

eddie realizes that buck truly loves him, is maybe in love with him, and then eddie does what eddie will do and rationalizes that its better for the both of them that he’s leaving then. since he’s straight and all. (this is the reason i have landed on for his specific smile during the uhaul scene, its like you can see him thinking “this sucks i hate this, it feels terrible, but its definitely the right choice. good job eddie”)

“this whole thing between us” where you love me and would do anything for me and i hear dialup static in my head whenever i think about it too hard and would do anything for you.

anyway i feel like i’m losing my mind, this show absolutely unravels my brain enough to yell into the void about it.
