Annabeth & Asa || "For the love of Asabeth!"

Annabeth found herself in the middle of the bridge between sadness and happiness. She wasn’t one or the other, more so stuck in a confused like state. She didn’t like the constant rocking of her emotions, nor the on and off pounding that went on in her head, but it was all something she had to deal with whether she liked it or not. The blonde wasn’t having a particularly bad or good day, just an average one like she’d had since she was released from the hospitals care. She played with her fingers at her abdomen, her brows furrowed as she thought to herself. If Coin brought us back, she’s going to use us. Right, I knew that already. The question is where is she going to put us when we’re in battle and why there? What is she going to have us do? We’re going to shock the living daylights out of the Capitol, I know that much. They can’t possibly expect dead tributes... Her thoughts went on like this in circles until she heard someone speak. “Excuse me, please.” Annabeth raised her head, shaking her endless course of thoughts from her head and stepping aside to let two men carrying a large metal object pass her.

Once they passed, Annabeth’s eyes stayed gazing ahead of her, and that’s when she saw him. Her face lit up immediately. Asa Milligan, the one person Annabeth had a little more than friendly feelings for. She reached a hand out, stopping herself immediately before she could run and tug his sleeve. Instead she glanced back to make sure no one was watching. She smiled brightly to herself, taking one step back before running as fast as she could at him. Annabeth jumped as her body collided with his, her arms wrapping around his torso. She wouldn’t be surprised if they had fallen, but the only thing she felt was the warmth from him passing to her. “Asa!” She called, her eyes closing, the same wide smile playing on her features. In that moment, Annabeth couldn’t be happier to see anyone else.

Asa had been living his life, day to day, just trying to recover. He has nightmares almost every night, the same ones about the Games but they always seen to be recreated different each time. From crazy arenas like the inside of a volcano, to his home being his own death trap. It got to be too much, but he found rescue in his fellow soldiers. He wasn't the only victor in 13, he found out. He wasn't the only tribute, the 74th games tributes couldn't have been the first.

He had been spending the day towing metal planks back and forth as the authorities requested. It kept him busy, which kept him from thinking. He didn't sleep much, so being as active as possible helped distance himself from those kinds of thoughts.

It was sudden, but out of nowhere he felt something slam against him. It wasn't hard, it was warm, yet cold, but wanting and it was something he had nearly forgotten. Annabeth, one of the few people that didn't shower him in bad memories. One of the few that didn't appear as a mutt to him. He hugged back as tight as possible, and didn't bother saying anything at first. He had a lot to say, in fact, but there was no way to get it all out coherently. He was just happy, and everyone around him could tell. The other guys with him let them be, and just skirted back down the hall. "We should go for a walk." he said, not pulling from the hug quite yet. He just wanted to talk to her.
