what is even going on in d13 anymore...
Exams are officially finished! Had my last one today and guess what?
I ACED THAT SHIT.
Everything just gets worse.
What’s wrong? I’m Jonah by the way.
My best--I shouldn't be telling people. I'm Maya, originally from District Two.
I will try to Fix You [x]
We should get you a doctor. "I've already been through enough therapy, Mai." he replied, the statement wasnt something he was happy to hear since to his knowledge, Maya already knew Bill was pushed deep into Jesset's subconscious and wasnt supposed to be back in his eyes unless he was dosed with hallucinogens. But the thought was pushed out of his mind when he heard Maya squeak. "No one hurts Maya." he mumbles under his breath, his free hand balling into a fist that was ready to fly into one of the Officers faces if they didnt let go of her soon.
It was first instinct to try and catch Maya when the Officer shoved her, but the space beside him was no longer empty and Jesset swore he saw a glimpse of the gruff beard that belonged to Bill. Sadly, Maya was already on the floor. Even more sadly, for the Officers at least, Jessets fist was flying into the laughing face of the one they called Quen.
He expected a tazer, or at least some other weapon to the face. But all that came was a punch. Weak. The blond boy thought to himself before grabbing Quen's shoulders and kneeing him in the gut. He heard the cough before he saw the spit on his uniform. Heard the running footsteps of the other Officer and the thud of Quens body while he saw him fall to the floor grasping his abdomen before Jesset turned to help Maya up.
"Dont be sorry," he tells her as if he didnt just beat up an officer. "You didnt run into those officers and tell them to bully you." Jesset laughs, but his face straightens after another second, "Unless you did?" but he goes back to laughing after the other joke.
Maya raised her head just enough to see Jesset's hand extended toward her. She took it without hesitation and stood to her feet. She disregarded the presence of the officer as if he wasn't even worth her attention, and he wasn't after what he'd just done to her. The only thing Maya worried about was that Jesset may have made a new enemy, though it would be foolish of this man to challenge the Career again. Maya's fingers gently brushed the cover of her book as she smiled up at him, letting out a small giggle at his jokes. Placing her free hand on the breast of his uniform, Maya stood on her toes and pecked his cheek to show her thanks. Jesset was always there for her just like she knew he'd be. Maya slid her hand into his again and began walking forward, pulling him away from the officer who still heaved breaths of stale, tasteless air on the floor.
"I'm glad it was you that came instead of anyone else." She said honestly, still walking forward with no idea where she was really bringing him. A silence fell over the couple for the next while that she led him until she was satisfied they were out of the officers radar if he decided to come after them. Turning around, Maya faced Jesset, but this time instead of a happy expression she wore that of a concerned one. "I need to ask you something." Her voice was suddenly softer, unsure of the words she was choosing or if she should even be asking this next question. Maya inhaled, clearing her throat before relaxing her shoulders and mustering up the courage to speak again. "Did you really see him again? That old man you talked about before?" Reaching a hand up, she brushed a golden curl from his face, but stopped her hand stiffly as she reached his temple. "I'm worried about you, Jess... I guess..." Maya allowed her voice to fade, swallowing the lump in her throat as she tore her gaze from him and set it on the yellow badge on the left breast of his maroon clothing. "I guess that's what happens when you really love someone... you worry about them no matter what." Maya licked her lips, her stomach suddenly getting a funny feeling she wasn't used to. She'd told Jesset she loved him before, and Maya had always meant it just like she did now, but for some reason telling him like this made it seem like the first time saying it all over again.
Loading. Loading. Buffering complete. "What tenacious officers thirteen has. You know Bill," Jesset addresses his imaginary friend again, yanking his hand out of the officers grip. "They're worse than the Peacekeepers in Two." But that's all the blond boy could say, he was running out of words and was running out of ideas of how to get him and Maya away from these officers. Plan A didn't work, obviously.
We were just having a chat with this girl, Mr. Kosta. "Well it sounded like more than a chat. She should be in training, and so should you. He scoffs at the tone of this officers voice. "Hear that Bill? And so should you." he mimics the voice of the officer with a weird face. "Calm down bro, and just so you know, I have attended more training sessions than I have been required. Bill has been keeping count. And, Miss Hennette is too small and frail to be one of your soldiers."
Whatever he was saying, and whatever his body was doing, Jesset seemed to barely have control over. His brain processing things he hadn't even thought about thoroughly and his body was working against him. "So if you'll let us leave now, Officer." the boy hoped that would be that last sentence he would say to these people before they let him and Maya leave. But he was wrong, neither of the Officers seemed to flinch.
Every time Jesset addressed Bill, Maya frowned a little more. "Jess... I think we should get you a doctor." She whispered just low enough for him to hear. Maya was at a loss of words. She didn't know what to do next or if she should do anything at all. She knew Jesset could take care of whatever would be thrown at them, but she didn't want to leave it all up to him. They took care of each other, that's how Maya always wanted it. Maya felt the officers hand clench her shoulder causing her to wince and let out a small squeak. "You hear that, Quen? Too frail." He scoffed, the other officer laughing with him. This annoyed Maya, but not enough to make her act on it. Instead she pulled downward on Jesset's hand again, looking up at him with pleading eyes to tell him she wanted to go.
So if you'll let us leave now, officer. It was then that Maya turned to look back at the officer who had a hold on her. Literally. His eyes met Jesset's with intensity and truthfully, this scared Maya a little bit. "Please." She spoke quietly, the officer now looking down at the small girl who clearly was at a disadvantage in height to the three men surrounding her. The officer clenched his jaw, pulling her back from Jesset and into himself again. "Well we wouldn't want Ms. Hennette to forget her book, would we?" The officer grinned, shoving her onto the floor as he released her shirt from his grasp. Maya quickly pushed herself up on her palms, glaring back at the officer's who now laughed, turning their backs on her. Maya picked up the book she had dropped at the start of it all and held it to her chest with her forearm. For a moment she avoided looking up at Jesset, instead she straightened out the wrinkled ruined pages and then closed her book. "Sorry." Maya said lowly, "thank you for coming, Jess. You always seem to be there when I need you." Her long locks fell into her face as she kept her head bowed. She felt ashamed for being so weak.
