Itâd been almost three years since Finn had found himself in Krovs Castle now, and soon coming up on one year since heâd been claimed. It still surprised him how quickly heâd fallen into a routine in this place. Wake up, eat, take a walk, relax, have sex with Ben, eat some more, maybe have a little more sex, sleep, and repeat. After living as long as he had, spending the last few centuries traveling around the world, meeting new people, picking up odd jobs here and there, he almost found the monotony of it all refreshing. Maybe he was just reaching that age where young adults transitioned into full adulthood or something, but he enjoyed always knowing exactly what to expect from each day.Â
With his routine set, it left very little room for unusual occurrences to happen in his days. Except for today, apparently. The familiar walked through the lobby, heading back to his suite. Just as he passed by someone â a busy looking staff member, he presumed by the papers in his hand â a distinct ringing filled his ears. It was more than enough to catch his attention and nearly trip over his own feet before he caught himself. The strange thing about it though was when the staff member kept walking, and the ringing started to fade the farther he got. Odd. Finnâs brows furrowed, and, out of pure curiosity, he spun on his heel and started following behind the witch hybrid. Again, the closer he got, the louder that noise became in his head again. Something deep in his gut told him he couldnât just let this go as some random anomaly, so he resorted to drastic measures as a casual way to get this manâs attention without seeming like a complete and total weirdo.
All it took was a little tap of his heel against the floor. A few steps ahead of the other man, the earth shifted to crack the floor upwards for anyone to trip over if they werenât paying attention. Itâd always been there and heâd deny it if anyone said something. And he just so happened to be the good civilian about to witness James take a fall from stubbing his toe on this crack thatâd been there for ages. âHey, careful â â he warned, using his supernatural speed to dart over and catch the other man by the arm. Finn sucked in a sharp breath at the physical contact, the ringing returning at a much higher volume than before. âYou should really watch where youâre going.â
Finn was admittedly one of the main reasons that led him to travel across the sea and with heavy heart agreed to provide his âloyaltyâ to the creatures he despised most. Still, he was expecting to at least have some time to settle down and get used to his surrounding (and also the irritating collar around his neck) first. Unfortunately the bond, though not as strong as it was these days, was desperate enough to try and reach out for the other end almost as soon as he set his feet on the castleâs ground. And that was almost a week ago.Â
The werehyena thought that it could have lasted for a longer time, whatever luck that he possesed which managed to prevent him for stumbling upon Finn so far. But fate, as it was proven many many times, owns a twisted brand of humour. He knew Finn was nearby even before he could see him and smelt that familar scent in the air, how could he not? With the bond screaming inside his head as his legs began to move, carrying him away in long strides.Â
And in his haste to lose the determined soul trailing after him, he was seconds too late to realise the shift of the ground under his feet. So there he was stumbling forward as he missed his footing in the next few moments, only to be saved from making a total fool of himself by the one person he was trying hard to avoid right now. He gritted his teeth to stop himself from gasping at the contact, and having heard Finnâs own sharp intake of breath, the other must have felt the spark as well as he did. Closing his eyes briefly, he focussed on the bond and began to work on subduing it by force. Only when he was certain that he had it somehow under control that he reopened his eyes to meet Finnâs gaze, lips curling into a faint smile. âWell..itâs rather hard to look at where one is heading to when being pursued by another, donât you agree?â
