Hello, and Welcome

Hello!

Today is June 30th, 2025 and I just randomly decided I should start a digital diary, as I'm about to start a pretty full on journey. Motherhood!

Now I've been anti-natalist my whole life, before I even knew of the term. I've seen The Girl With The List on TikTok. I've been through all the RegretfulParents posts on Reddit. I'm super, superrr aware of how society is not made for parents to succeed, and especially how badly it is set up for mothers. Western society anyway.

So like I do before making any rational decision, I made a long list of pros and cons of motherhood, and I also went through this list with my husband. And oh yes, I have a husband! We've been together for (and we've been childfree for) 10+ years now, since 2014.

Him being the greenest flag, said he didn't bring it up first because it's my body and my choice, and if I never want to go through childbirth then he's absolutely fine with that - but that it has also been on his mind this year. At the end of the day, it came down to, we both want one child, heavy on the ONE - "one and done". We already have our own house, we have a great support system of family, we're a strong team together, and we both have stable incomes with a lot of money saved up. So I guess money does buy happiness / or I guess money buys the stability needed for a child.

So yeah, I don't know where this blog will go. Maybe we'll get pregnant on the first try, maybe we'll realise it's much harder and will end up on a long road of trying and ending up with IVF, or adopting. I have no idea. But that's why I'm starting this from the start now, so one day I can look back and see how this journey evolved, how I've evolved.

Also just want to make this clear - I'm not gonna be using ChatGPT to write any of my posts, it will all just be whatever comes out of me. I chose Tumblr because I just want this to be a text-based outlet with no intention of making money, I'm not trying to be an Instagram mom influencer (I don't agree with posting children's photos online anyway).

So this will be my digital diary. Asha, the name, means hope, and I'm hopeful this all goes well!

Dairy Entry: Monday 15th September

I just got my period again, it's the second cycle of ovulation we've tried now. I don't know why but my first thought is that we've now well & truly missed Taurus season. I know it's so silly but I really just had the strongest vision/intuition of having a Taurus child for no reason. I don't even know a Taurus in real life, but just had a feeling.

I'm actually completely fine. I suppose coming from being an anti-natalist then being a fencesitter and now to actively trying; I am genuinely okay with the idea of never having a child if it's not meant to be. But then again, it's common for couples to actually try for a year anyway.

Also, today I learnt that women's bodies actually try to remove chances of pregnancy, and that our bodies are working to prevent implantation or something. But basically the post said something about how we've been taught wrong about women's bodies this whole time (that it prepares for pregnancy each month then gives painful periods as revenge for not being pregnant) which is not true. And I think it's such a comforting thought for those who have had miscarriages, or those trying, like us. I'll share that post if I manage to find it. Anyway, back at it again next month I suppose.

Diary Entry: Schrodinger's cat

Dear diary,

Tonight it feels like it is my last night. I don't know last night of what..Schrodinger's cat keeps floating in my mind but I'll get to that in a sec. But I have definitely missed my period, it is well & truly overdue and so tomorrow on Monday morning, on the way to the office, I will pick up some pregnancy tests. Apparently morning pee is the most accurate so I'm just not going to use the toilet until I've bought the tests.

I am keeping myself completely calm, knowing it's only our first try technically, as in one cycle of ovulation we've tried - which is highly unlikely to fall pregnant by. I've been through so many Reddit posts reading from couples who have tried months, and years through IVF, so I've already braced myself for the worst. If somehow I really have fallen pregnant on the first try (after 10 years of being on the pill to actively avoid pregnancy) then I'd have to say we're pretty lucky.

Back to Schrodinger's cat - quote "Schrödinger said that if you place a cat and something that could kill the cat (a radioactive atom) in a box and sealed it, you would not know if the cat were dead or alive until you opened the box, so that until the box was opened, the cat was both "dead and alive."

I don't know why, but that's how I'm kinda feeling right now on the night before I'm going to test for pregnancy. Anything could happen tomorrow, my life could forever change, but right now, tonight, I have no way of knowing - it feels like I'm a Mother and a Maiden at once - in between two worlds with one night left between us.

Currently in my post-ovulation gremlin tww era.

Symptoms include:

Staring at my stomach like it might wink back

Googling “when can you feel implantation” 47 times.

Whispering “Let something root. Let something stay. If you’re in there, you’re already loved. If you’re not, I still am.”

Visualizing my lining like a luxury mattress.

Reminding my uterus: you’re not just here for cramps and chaos.

If you need me, I’ll be over here pretending not to think about it every five minutes.

hi everyonee just a quick update that i'm now in my "two week wait" which is basically the time between ovulation to your next period - where you can't know if you're pregnant or not. neverrr been in this situation before but keeping an open heart & mind to whatever happens! ALSO any advice & tips welcome!!

Zodiac Baby Planner (Conception Dates)

If you're crazily optimistic like me then you might plan to aim for a certain zodiac. Obviously, ovulation date matters and apparently babies always arrive on a different date than their estimated due date. BUT if like me, you also want to plan conception dates, then below is a guide! I've based it on exactly 266 days of pregnancy from conception (38 weeks). And starting the list with Taurus because that's what I'm aiming for!

Conception Range: July 28 – August 27

So I just got off the train with a baby infront of me who had a phone strapped to their stroller our entire 1 hour train ride. Parents were on their own phones and whenever baby tried to look out the window or made a little noise - they'd change the YouTube video playing. Baby was around 6 months old I guess. I'm not a parent so can't judge but idk man, just feels so dystopian and wrong to have babies stuck to a screen??? I wonder if I'll change my mind but right now I just passionately hate seeing children of any age stuck on screens and hope all the new generation of parents will stop that

Fertility Foods + Pre-Conception Diet

7th July 2025: It's been 3 months of healthy eating before we start "trying" end of this month. And so I've compiled a list of foods from my doctor + witchy sources! Also been taking daily pre-conception tablets and supplements in addition to the below (& stopped alcohol/smoking completely). Hope this list helps anyone else trying to conceive! (TLDR at the end)

DRINKS & TASTY STUFF:

Dark chocolate (85%+ cocoa)

Red raspberry leaf tea

Pomegranate juice

Sauerkraut or kimchi

Coconut water

Beetroot juice

Kefir (pasteurised)

Full-fat milk, cheese, yoghurt

FRUITS:

Blueberries, Strawberries, Raspberries

Pomegranates

Oranges, Lemons, Grapefruits

Bananas, Apples, Kiwi fruit

SEAFOOD:

Salmon (but don't have raw when pregnant)

Sardines, Mussels, Anchovies

Oysters (but stop once pregnant)

PROTEIN:

Chicken (breast or thigh)

Turkey

Eggs

Tuna (max 1-2 serves coz of mercury)

NUTS, SEEDS, & HEALTHY FATS:

Almonds, Walnuts

Pumpkin seeds, Sunflower seeds

Chia seeds (soaked), Flaxseeds

Brazil nuts (max 2 per day!)

Peanut butter or almond butter

Extra virgin olive oil, Avocado oil, Ghee

WHOLEGRAINS & FIBRE:

Brown rice, Quinoa

Wholemeal bread, Wholegrain pasta

Lentils and daal

Chickpeas, Black beans, Kidney beans

GREENS & VEGETABLES:

Spinach, Kale, Rocket, Broccoli

Cauliflower, Brussels sprouts

Sweet potatoes, Beetroot

Tomatoes, Avocados, Carrots

Capsicum, Onions, Garlic, Ginger

RED MEAT:

Lean cuts only (max 70g per day) NO processed meat

EXTRA STUFF:

Wear THICK THERMAL socks (Chinese belief: warm feet = warm uterus)

Wear ring on second toe (Indian belief)

Drink raspberry leaf tea during waxing moon (Celtic belief)

TLDR! EAT: Leafy Greens: For folate and iron. Oily Fish: For omega-3 fatty acids. Beans and Lentils: For iron, fibre, and plant-based protein. Fruits & Veggies: Vitamins and antioxidants. Eggs: Choline, protein, nutrients. Nuts and Seeds: Healthy fats and nutrients. AVOID: No alcohol, smoking, caffeine, sugary or processed foods andddd might I add, most importantly, NO STRESS - take it easy and enjoy the journey. AND go see a doctor! Also please comment anything I've missed!
