“Scout’s honor.”
“The highest of all honors!” Asher gasped in fake surprise. “I’m in. 100%.”
jadecuomo:
Jade gave the guy a smile and nodded. “Hey, five minutes can be everything.” She agreed. “Yeah… I haven’t been here very long. I’m Jade, one of the District One tributes.”
“Not even going to argue about it.” Asher spoke with a small smile. “Well, nice to meet you. I’m Asher, one of the trainers.”
dahlia-oakland:
Dahlia looked at him for a second. As she sat there, looking at her fiance, she started to think how much he had tried to make sure she was okay and she had been treating him pretty bad especially in the last few weeks since her belly had been stretched to the limits. She sighed before she gently slid out of the chair and stood up, wrapping her arms around his chest and hugging him as much as she could. Her belly was preventing the closeness. She didn’t say anything. She just hugged him as tight as she could.
Asher tensed up at first as she stood up and moved over to him, immediately thinking that she was about to go ahead and smack him for being inconsiderate in some messed up way. He wouldn’t be surprised. As much as he tried to keep his mouth shut and play nice the past few weeks, weird comments did slip from his mouth every once in a while. But once she wrapped her arms around him, he did the same, bringing her as close as he could with her belly in their way. “Come on, honey. Let’s go to our room.” He spoke quietly, kissing the top of her head.
dahlia-oakland:
Dahlia watched her fiance carefully as he approached her. She glared at him for a little bit before he touched her and she relaxed. She wanted Jackson to make his grand entrance so she would stop feeling so uncomfortable. Asher offered to rub her feet and she looked down at the paperwork in front of her. She had to get these done by tomorrow night so she knew she needed to work on them. She sighed and sniffled and wiped her face.
“I need to get this done,” Dahlia said, her mood immediately calming down, which was a completely flip from what just happened a few seconds ago. “I just can’t concentrate. I’m so uncomfortable, Ash.”
“I’ll help you do it later, how about that?” Asher offered with a small smile, still fearing that any action he might take might end up with him getting kicked out of their bed later on. He couldn’t even count the many times he had been forced to sleep on the couch already back home. And while couching were probably a lot more comfortable here, he wasn’t willing to get the numbers to increase.
“Let’s get you as comfortable as possible, and then we’ll figure the papers out.”
dahlia-oakland:
Dahlia looked up when she heard her name. She looked up to find her fiance, looking a little hesitant, which pissed her off. Then he asked her if she was okay, which immediately caused her to pick up her pen and throw it at him. Not out of any anger of what he was doing, but rather she just needed something, anything, to get her frustration out.
“Of course I’m not fucking okay!” Dahlia shouted at him. “Do I look okay to you? I’m massive, I’m disgusting and this kid is driving me CRAZY!”
Asher avoided the pen by mere millimeters, carefully making his way over at her despite her shouting and threatening. “You’re not disgusting, darling.” He assured her. “You’re doing really, really well.” He wasn’t really used to pregnancy hormones. Sure, he saw his mother go through so many pregnancies, but she was always so happy, so joyful, that he imagined it was like a walk in the park. Clearly, it wasn’t.
“Why don’t we get you to the bed and I give you a nice, relaxing feet rub?” He offered with a small, hopefully friendly smile.
[open starter]
Jade stepped into the tower cafeteria, unsure of where exactly here fellow district 1 crew had run off to… she supposed they get to the cafeteria in their own time. There were a few people sitting around the room, some mentors and trainers were chatting… catching up since the last games, of course.
Jade just got her food and sat down at the table she’d sat at the night before. Someone was approaching and Jade looked up at them, unsure of whether or not they planned to sit or were just looking for a table. “These seats are open if you want ‘em.” she offered.
Asher smiled, placing his semi-empty tray on the table in front of the girl. “Sure. Got to get five minutes off.” He added, referring to all the people eager to talk about the Games. It was still beyond him how anyone could find them enjoyable. The only reason he was here, really, was just his fiancee.
“Haven’t seen you here before.” He spoke as he sat down on the seat in front of her.
Dahlia was exhausted. She was thirty-eight weeks pregnant, still the Escort for District 7, and she was already getting bombarded with paperwork and meeting arrangements. She was completely emotional about giving birth to her son potentially in the Capitol in the middle of the Games and she had been crying on and off for the last twenty-four hours. She didn’t know who to talk to and her son was kicking her kidneys more than she’d appreciate to top it all off.
All in all, the woman was miserable. She had gained a lot of weight and she felt self-conscious in the midst of all of these people dressed like Kings and Queens. So when she finally got her stack of paperwork for her tributes from the Gamemakers, she was only sitting in a room for about thirty minutes before she threw her pen down on the table and put her hands over her face and began to cry.
By the time Asher got the the seventh floor,he could hear his fiancee’s cries from the lift itself. He followed it quickly, preparing for the worst, and frowning in confusion when he found her sitting by the paperwork, sobbing her eyes out. Then again, at this point, it was almost a common occurrence.
“Dahlia? Baby?” He spoke carefully as he entered the room, a little scared that she would either throw something at him or start yelling. “Honey, you’re okay?”
theswann:
Sagitarria shrugged and let out an almost childish giggle. “Well, that’s half the fun.”
Asher shrugged, observing it for a few moments before finally grinning widely. “I wanna try too.”
camillarichmond:
“Well, there are two options. One where we measure plants or a super exciting secret project.”
“I’ll sign up for the super exciting secret project if you promise it won’t burn my eyebrows off.”
“Do you want to help with my experiment? I need a co-scientist.” She said, offering a pair of goggles to the person in front of her.
“Can’t promise anything, but sure.” He smiled, taking the goggles from the girl. “What’s the experiment about?”
“I got a new rolling toolbox and it doubles as a fun way to get around. Do you want to try it out?”
“A rolling toolbox?” Asher asked, raising his brows in amusement. “Aren’t you scared it will just... roll off? With you on top?”
oliveblackwell:
Olive sighed, throwing up a hand to stop the bartenders approach. “I outrank you big brother. Every capitolite here would gladly buy me a drink if I so much as smiled at them.”
Asher grabbed Olive’s hand and pulled it back down onto the bar, being gentle. He was still scared of her injuries getting worse, even if she seemed to be healing up pretty well. Smiling, he motioned for the confused bartender to come back over again. “Then it’s a good thing you never smile, huh?”
dahlia-oakland:
Asher had unleashed much of her playful side. She enjoyed letting loose like she used to when she was younger, finding a playfulness in life that she hadn’t seen in a long time since the rebellions. Asher had given her that, at least and Dahlia hoped that he could pass it off to their son too. Dahlia didn’t want Jackson to grow up feeling like the world was this scary, serious place, even though it was. There had to be an innocence to it in some form. Perhaps Asher would be the right parent to do that for him.
“That’s a horrifying thought,” Dahlia teased before she giggled and kissed his cheek in return.
However, the feeling of his hand against her belly and his soothing words melted her heart. Perhaps it was pregnancy hormones, but perhaps not. Maybe it was just simply love, but Dahlia was warmed by it. She put her hand over Asher’s and squeezed his hand as it settled over the roundness of her belly.
“I wish we could,” Dahlia said, leaning her head back against his shoulder. “But your sister reminded me that we do have pictures to take soon. Whenever the hell my father shows up, that is.”
“Always so mean.” Asher pouted a little as she kissed his cheek. Moving his hand to Dahlia’s chin, he turned it gently, leaning over so he could kiss his fiancee comfortably. She could complain about being huge as much as she wanted to, but in his eyes, she was as stunning as the day he had first met her.
“Of course she did.” He sighed, continuing to rub Dahlia’s back with his other hand, letting her hold his hand on her belly. “Never have I pictured her as someone who’d be so persistent on taking pictures.”
camillarichmond:
Her face turned bright pink. “Thank you, you look rather handsome as well.”
“How very sweet of you.” He winked at the girl. He wanted to remain nice around her, despite honestly wondering why would anyone let a child out into this ball. “Are you here by yourself tonight?”
oliveblackwell:
“Whiskey,” she told him, waving her empty shot glass. She was technically not supposed to be on any alcohol while the morphling was in her system but doses this small could be played with. “No babysitting tonight. I’m fine. Chip’s not even around right now to do anything stupid with.”
“Yeah, you see, that’s a drink for grown ups, and you’re not one.” Asher spoke with a grin, motioning for the bartender to come over. He wasn’t going to let Olive drink any more, not under his watch. “You don’t need someone else’s company to do something stupid.”
