āWhat do you mean you canāt make it today? There are free drinks thoughā my workmate said as I tell her I canāt come to the party later
Ā āI have to take Chae Yoon to her dad, sheās staying with him for the weekendā I answered briefly, she already knew what I meant
Ā I only stopped typing on my computer to look at her and why sheās not replying to me, I found her just staring at me deep in thought
Ā āI still donāt get why you two called it off, you two were-ā
āI know, but some things just donāt work outā I muttered, returning back to my work.
There were a lot of surprises in my life, good ones and bad ones. Chae Yoon being the best one, sheās the reason for my very being, the light of my life. And I guess my ex-fiancĆ©ās too. Jaehyun and I may have our fair share of shortcomings but never when it comes to our daughter.
We both know that she comes first no matter what.Ā Ā
When we decided to call it off a few months ago, we swore that her well being comes above everything. Whatever failures weāve had as a couple has got nothing to do with our daughter and we know that, I donāt have a single ounce of doubt when it comes to Jaehyun being a good father to her.
āOkay, tell Jae I said hi and give the little one a few hugs from meā she said gathering her stuff, I was about to make my way out too, āWill do, see you on Mondayā.
Working 8 hours a day and having a 10 month old baby is not the easiest thing, sometimes I feel like Iām failing at being her mom but I know Iām trying my best.
I made my way to my neighbourās house where Chae Yoon usually stays at when Iām not around, she used to be a pre-school teacher but is in break for now so she offered to take Chae Yoon in when Iām busy.
I knocked on her door waiting for her to answer, āY/N-ah, youāre a bit early todayā she greeted me with a smile and a hug
āHi unnie, yea well Iām taking her to Jaehyunāsā I answered, she nodded understanding how our situation works
āSheās in the living room, she just woke up so sheās a bit grumpyā
I spot my little girl on the playmat, looking a little bored with her toy. If someone ask me to describe Chae Yoon the easiest way to do it is to just say sheās practically the mini girl version of Jaehyun, I tell him every time how itās not fair that I carried her for nine months only to look exactly like him. Right down to the adorable dimples.
Not that Iām complaining, I just like saying it to him. Jaehyun gets really happy every time someone tells him they look alike.
āHey, princess. How are you? Mama missed you so muchā I said to her as I pick her up and prop her on my waist
She just looked up at me with a big smile on her face, similar to her fatherās.
āWeāre going to dada today, you miss him?ā at the mention of dada she started to squeal and move around my arms getting very excited
āSheās not here, angel. Weāll see him later. Thank you noona. Dinner on me the next time okay?ā I turned to the older lady who was watching us with a fond smile on her face
āWhat did I tell you? Donāt worry about it, I like taking care of this one. Enjoy your weekend, both of youā
We quickly bid goodbye and walked back to my apartment carrying Chae Yoon who was babbling away,
āHow about you say mama or dadaā I tell her as I unlock the door, I could hear her mumble a few more syllables but never forming a full word
āItās okay, you can learn again tomorrow. You donāt have to grow up quickly, you can be mommy and daddyās little girl foreverā I said then held her up making her giggle. She has always been an easy baby, never crying that much, always smiling.
After packing up her stuff and taking a quick snack with me incase she gets hungry I made my way out of the apartment. I quickly dialled Jaehyunās number waiting for him to pick up
Ā āHey, sorry Iām still in a meeting. Are you driving to my place now?ā he asked
Ā āNo, Iām still at the apartment. Will you take long?ā
Ā āNot sure, maybe an hour at most. Sorry I wasnāt expecting thisā worry was clear in his voice, I just smiled knowing he was doing the best he could
āItās fine no worries, Iāll take her for a walk. Call me when youāre doneā we bid our goodbyes then I made my way out, putting my daughter on her stroller opting to leave my car
āHow about we pick up dinner for you and dada? I doubt he has time to make something tonight or if he had time to go the grocery this weekā I told her, she barely understands me but I always talk to her like this
āWhat do you think heāll want for dinner? Pizza? Salad? Sushi? Not sushi?ā I listed making her laugh at me for no reason
I stopped by and grabbed some dinner for them, then made my way to Jaehyunās office. Chae Yoon was starting to fall asleep so I hurriedly walked trying to wake her up a bit since itās getting too late for a short nap.
Arriving at the building heās working at, I rode the elevator to the floor heās in. I was about to walk to the reception area when I hear someone calling my name
