The article I read on EM Journal was called Black Sweater by Christa Kiracofe. The started out with a girl in a classroom who met her best friend by actually getting in trouble by her teacher. She and the best friend had made a puddle of Elmers glue and glitter in the classroom. It then went on to say that they turned their messy habits of art class into paint wars and ended up painting all over each others faces and the girls sweater. She later moved from a small town to a big city with her family and started at a new school, she felt congested in the new city and like her childhood was stolen from her. Needless to say she wore the sweater that her best friend had painted on at any time she needed to feel comfort. She wore it to her first day of school, meeting her new friends, at a high school talent show, and at graduation. She went on to say that it is peculiar how an old piece of clothing that was once forgotten about came back with age after it had been faded in her mind. Her sweater had gotten her through many troubling times in life! I really liked this article because most people do have that one significant thing that gets them through their days. For example, my little sister has a bunch of old burp cloths from when she was a baby and that is her piece of comfort. She sleeps with one, and when shes upset that's the one thing she goes to, actually she panics if she can't find it, and 12 years later she's still using it, much like a teddy bear! I think most all of us can agree that there are certain things that comfort us more than others, whether it be music, a burp cloth, or an old worn out sweater that your old best friend painted on!
