geonmiaâ:
to lend a hand
geon doesnât know how he got so lucky to make a good friend in meia right off the bat. he thanks whatever lucky star was with him that day that he ran into that scouting party entirely by accident; what they brought him back to was overwhelming and frankly scary sometimes, but ash has always been kind, helpful, gentle with him. he thinks itâs a little funny, a demon, tough, resilient, and lethal, being so scared of his own shadow that a human would stop to console him. geon supposes he isnât very good at being a demon, though.
âoh, does your head hurt?â geon frowns, concerned, as he takes the cloth from the young woman and dutifully performs the task thatâs requested of him. heâs careful not to get her hair caught in the knot. âis that too loose? i can redo it,â he likes being helpful, he likes feeling like he belongs here. ash always makes him feel at ease. âdo you ever wish you could just⌠turn it off? at least my thing only works when iâm looking at people.â he didnât hide anything from the meia agents, not even his enhancement. not that he can send thoughts to ash; her eyes are covered or sheâs negating his enhancement, thereâs no in between.
heâs a bit nervous now that sheâs told him that the head agents use the games to evaluate the younger agents. will they see geonâs shyness as being a poor teammate? will they see him avoiding the action as being flighty and unreliable? he frowns; he hopes not. but he supposes that he just has to trust that theyâre wiser than his anxiety gives them credit for. âwhat did you want to do?â he asks ash, since she seems to know better than he would. âeverything looked fun.â
âmhm, a little.â she replies, standing still as the other agent helps her tie the cloth. the warmth of it on her face is familiar and instantly she feels the dull pull of her enhancement thin out until itâs nothing but background noise. not as overwhelming as it can be most of the time. âitâs nothing i canât handle, but probably best to keep it from getting worse.â her eyes flutter shut behind the cloth as she shakes her head a little to see if itâs going to stay. it doesnât most and she smiles as she pivots a little to be facing geon once more.Â
âperfect! thanks for the help, geon.â she registers the last half of his question and her head tilts to the side as she considers it. âhmm..â itâs not actually something she has thought about before because since the moment she has gained her enhancement sheâs been working to control it, and to better it. âsometimes.... i wish it had an on and off ability. i know a lot of agents can use theirs when they want it but mine is always humming in the back of my mine.â she replies, starting to walk slowly back to some of the events. âbut iâm also getting use to it?â
she wonders if that made any sense, because it hadnât really to her and she was the one who said it. âwell, anyway. it is what it is, ya know?â maybe that's too insensitive to say to a demon agent but oh well. âi was thinking we could try out the archery? unless you want to try and wrestle.â her tone turns to teasing as she bumps against geons side.
