Just got back from vacation! I drew these while I was at Cape Cod start to finish on procreate, usually I sketch on procreate and render on paint tool sai. So that's why they are a bit messy but I think they still turned out well.

Anyway these are proxies for my new Cat themed Queen Marchesa deck. Gisela blade of Goldnight, as a orange and white tabby. and the Assassin Token Queen Marchese makes with haste and deathtouch.

I'm considering printing these for sale but I am not sure if people would like them.

The Asian Bleeding Heart, one of the most beautiful flowers there is and one of my happiest moments in gardening was raising one of these. So I also drew my favorite moth wearing this dress. This series was fun and I may draw more if I have another idea for a dress.

Bee Balm, one of my most beloved plants I have in my native garden. They can grow so tall! I love love bee's and growing plants that support local pollinators. Her dress is inspired by a fringe dress but with petals instead.

I wanted to draw some of my favorite flowers as dresses and then I thought they would look super cute on fairies! So here is a white satin moth wearing a cute little lily of the valley dress. I made her antennae tan because to me from a distance they can look tan/cream.

Hi! Love your gemstone mermaids for this year’s MerMay! They’ve all been gorgeous! Ruby has been a personal favorite as that’s my birth month.

Personally I grew up knowing turquoise as the birthstone of December, along with other gemstones being chosen for other months, as I know some months have multiple options for gemstones. Did you consider any of those other gemstones when picking which ones for your mermaids?

Yes, I did a lot of research and there are quite a few options for quite a few of the months, I found FOUR for June which is crazy. I even saw Blue Topaz as another option for December but I went with Zircon because November has a Topaz and because I thought the history was pretty neat. But it was a mixture of, history, aesthetics, and an attempt at color balance. If I had more time I would do more because all of these gemstones are gorgeous and it was an absolute joy learning about them.

December Birthstone: Blue Zircon

Last but certainly not least, Zircon! Its one of the oldest minerals on earth, and also comes in many colors. I based her off of a blue parrotfish.

November Birthstone: Yellow Topaz

Topaz is fun because it comes in many colors naturally, Yellow being a super fun variant, representing joy and creativity. I based her off of a butterfly fish.

October Birthstone: Opal

So yes of course I did another Betta, I love this one so much, she is just so iridescent and soft. Raw Opal is one of the coolest stone's I've seen raw, its gorgeous!

September Birthstone: Sapphire

My engagement ring is actually a Sapphire, a pink one, but I had to of course go for the iconic blue. She is based on a triggerfish, I thought the crescent moon shaped tail was incredible.

August Birthstone: Peridot

Another green girlie, She is based on the green pleco! Peridot crystals have been found in meteorites which, I think, is pretty out of this world.

July Birthstone: Ruby

I learned in this process that rubies and sapphires are basically same thing, variants of corundum. She is based on a Koi Betta.

June Birthstone: Pearl

Hey its my birth month! Pearls are my favorite 'gemstone' so of course of the options I chose it. She is based on a Pink Halfmoon Betta and tbh, i am gonna be using Betta a few times just due to the beautiful color options, and dramatic fins.

May Birthstone: Emerald

She is the MerMay! The may mermaid, I was so so excited to line and color her, she is so fabulous. She is inspired by a green danio longfin and my favorite rainbow high doll Jewel Richie.

April Birthstone: Diamond

Diamond's are forever, she's an icon, she's a legend and she is the moment, come on now. She is based on a white butterfly koi.

March Birthstone: Aquamarine

Aquamarine is such a pretty stone with such a unique sheen on it that makes it look frosted. She is based on a Blue-Green Chromis fish.

February Birthstone: Amethyst

Wanted to do a geode for this one because I love watching people crack them on youtube. She is based on a purple chromis fish.
