What is striking about the work of Joshua K. Jackson is the way he is able to capture unique instances with the aide of light fixtures, puddles, even trying to light a cigarette. This unique perspective of the world is why I chose him for my personal interest. These images move you to just stare at everything inside the picture and its almost youre surroudned by the light eminating from the images.

Urban photography/ street photogrpahy aethetic he is achieving here comes from finally breaking free of corporate america slaving him a way at a desk for years - he eyes lead him to a distinct direction in street photograhy. The composition of his photos with the aid of his knowledge in depth of field; utilizing low aperture creates gorgeous tales and knowing when to use it during night shoots helps broaden his range in what he is able to capture. After researching Jackson's techniques I found out new techniques that helped me with my own photos to help mimic the feeling of his. Some helpful tips were- having 0 expectations, this keeps you open to opportunities in your path.

The images I have chosen from Jackson include the motion of the city. First, someone in a moving taxi - utlizing shutter speed. It’s bright and loud, the low aperture focuses right at her eyes, leaving everything else a blur. A simple guy smoking a cigarette is engulfed in a red light, with everything focused on the man and the neon light. The cool tones of this warm toned woman offset each other, with her right in the center, you see the camera is looking past the train handlebars and is right on her. Its so cool that he sees his subject and is able to create his vision with just a machine.
