The octoling looked up, a cold expression. ”Hm… maybe try asking Tartar about that…”

”huh? You… hehe… you really don’t know?! YOU DONT KNOW WHO TARTAR IS?!” She laughed, a crazed expression on her face.

“I- no? Is he like… super popular down here or smt?” He had a slightly scared look on his face

“So uhh, could you take me to this tar tar person? Since he supposedly knows the way out?”

”fine. Cmon then.” She stood up and started walking to where tartar was.

they followed “this is a really big place… its kinda sketchy…”

“O-ok” they walk over to the phone and answer it.

“[SEARCHING FOR USER ID...] [USER 10009 CONFIRMED] Greetings, 10,009, your current location is: Deepsea Metro Station Central. My primary function is to facilitate your journey to the promised land. Pleased to make your acquaintance.” The telephone spoke

”uhh hai?” There was a small pause “wait is the promise land the surface??? Cause that’s where im heading!”

“Mhm! It is!” The octoling whispered, a smile on her face.

“[ASSESSING COMMUNICATION EFFICIENCY…] [EFFICIENCY: 12.42%] [ENABLING CONTEMPORARY SPEECH MODE…] What is crackalacking, home skillet? Let us bounce to the promised land fo sho.”

“can we go now!” They began to get exited

“I am bout it bout it, so listen while I [SLANG_NOT_FOUND] you the facts. You have spent your entire life in the dark. Your eyes closed to the new hotness that awaits. The promised land. A utopia of light beyond your wildest dreams. It is all that and a bag of cool beans. I will take you to the promised land now. NOT!” Bit rude of the telephone to lie but it was only a silly joke

The octoling we will now call nine, looked disappointed “what do you mean your not gonna take me now!”

“HA HA HA. Psyche out. Only cats who have proven themselves can [ERROR] the promised land. Do you dig, dog? There have been 10,008 applicants so far, which makes you applicant 10,009.”

“Ooookayyyyy so what do I do to get to the surface?”

“This opportunity comes once in a lifetime, yo. Good luck and [SLANG_NOT_FOUND]. This is the Deepsea Metro Central Station, the realio dealio central hub of the facility. Here is your CQ-80 and CQ card. They are so bad.”

The telephone withdrawed the CQ-80 and CQ card.

“Guard them with you lizzife, because if you lose them, you will be [ERROR].”

“I will be… what?….” This felt very unsettling for nine

“Don’t worry about it!”

“Now come on ride the train. Outie 5000.”

“train?” As soon as nine said that, a subway train pulled up to the central station “dang, that was good timing.”

“Mhm. Let’s go.”

As nine boards the train, they look terrified at all the weird looking creatures “ewww! What in the world is that!” Nine points to what seems to be a jelly with multiple heads “it’s discussing! Ewww! There’s more of them! What is going on! Whey dose everything looks so disgusting!”

“Nothing is disgusting. they are just passengers. They aren’t bad at all. They may look strange to you but you’ll get used to seeing em.”

“Whatever you say… so what do i do now? It never told me how to get to the surface” Nine stares at their CQ-80 and CQ card, still wondering what would happen if they were to loose them.

“Hm… you might find out soon…”

Nine sits down on a seat, thinking of ways to get tartar to take them to the ‘promised land’… “what if I just have to impress this tartar guy?”
