((Not dead, just sleeping

been a combination of extremely ill and extremely busy since I last posted. Got my wisdom teeth out, caught a cold, got an infection, got two illustration jobs, still have an infection, moving back to school on the 21st, trying to play video games to keep myself sane amongst all this, and seriously I've had this infection for three weeks someone please suck the gunk out of my right sinuses I'm begging you

Anyway, as I'm sure you can tell from all that, I've had neither the time nor the health to really be working on ask blogs. As of now, I DO plan on coming back, but I'm not exactly sure how long it will take for me to be a). not dying and b). not sick of drawing because of work

Iron Artist Challenge

Inspired by http://hecklefreckle.deviantart.com/ (go commission them) An Iron Artist Challenge is where an artist tries to draw 100 of the same type of thing in order to try and improve that kind of thing. Hecklefreckle is doing full body illustrations, and I’d like to do chibis. I don’t do chibis very often and it’s definitely something I need to practice and work on! The chibis would be similar to this: http://captainsparx.deviantart.com/art/CM-Gasp-443371437 but I’ll be putting more effort to them in order to help improve my chibi style. So, in honor of this challenge, I’m going to be taking chibi commissions for $3 a character, which is a $5 discount off my usual price. In return for the discount, you agree to let me use your character in this experimental challenge so that I can improve my skill for this kind of art. Hopefully you end up with a product that is much much better than the examples I already have! what advice would you personally give to someone writing a character fighting in a war, since it's a subject you're so interested in? ovo

read five billion books about the subject and do a lot of research from reliable sources and ask questions from people who might know more about the subject than you.Try to avoid cliches! If you saw it in a movie, it's probably not the kind of direction you want to go in. Don't focus on heroes or good versus evil. Don't have black and white characters. There is a LOT of gray area in wars, and it should reflect in your character. They're going to doubt themselves and their position a lot, and they're going to doubt the people in charge of them while still feeling like their superiors are right because they ARE superiors, after all.A lot of people fighting in wars do believe that their side is right and the other is wrong, but once you're actually IN the war, that's when the doubt may kick in, especially if they're in a position with a lot of face to face fighting (foot soldiers).There's a lot of important psychology to think about, including fear, hive mentality, sense of duty and obligation to follow orders from superiors... At the same time acknowledge that in almost all situations, an obviously unstable person would not be allowed into battle, as it is destructive to their own side.Good studies to look into would be the Milgram obedience experiment and the Stanford prison experiment.

While leaving his own tent, Echo couldn't help but notice the lump of dark fur lying in the middle of the clearing. Curious, he decided to approach the Umbreon. "Good evening. Any reason why you chose to sleep out here? Any one else'd be too scared to stay out here longer than an hour, from what I see."

The forest is perfectly safe, especially with so many pokemon around warding away any threats... What is there to be afraid of?

It's not often I get to sit outside and enjoy my surroundings. I'm enjoying the stars and the breeze while I can, as it will likely be another year before I get to do anything like this again.
