"I can understand what you are feeling, Gregor. I know you don't want to hurt her, specially after only just getting her back. And I understand you in turn Yuri, you feel the same way." "But this is not right. To take the lives of yourself and others with you is a selfish act that I think your Gregor wouldn't have wanted you to go through!"

The staff shifted, being twirled in Pierrot's hand before he is posed for a conflict.

"I regret having to go back to the way Lobotomy Corp deals with panicking employees, but it appears that maybe the only way for you to see reason once more, ma pomme perdue!"

His eyes furrow, hurt in them but clearly willing to do what is needed.

"So don't make me do such a thing, Yuri. We all would prefer that."

The Distortion readies itself to attack. Such a simple apple is so threatening.

The apple, on its short sprout legs, targets Gregor. He takes top priority, because she saw him die alone! She saw him die alone so she will make sure this time it never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever happens again

The apple is soon batted away into the floor with ease, with Pierrot using the blunt surface of his weapon to force the apple away from Gregor. He cries out, shifting his stance once more. "BECAUSE NO ONE IS DYING! NOT ON MY WATCH!"

The apple staggers a little, stumbling, before deciding to clash with Gregor again. Again and again till they can die together! Till he doesn't have to die alone anymore!

Her jagged arms stretch out in a mockery of a child wanting an embrace with the contrast of the intent to kill, sharp nails trying to pull Gregor in. Only Gregor. Him first. Save him first. Kill him!

Was heard for a moment, before something finally moved in front of Gregor.

Pierrot's blade slashed through the apple attempting to bring down Gregor, slicing through it with almost practiced ease.

"Please, do not blame yourself for what happened. There are things we cannot predict, some things we can't prevent from happening out of pure chance."

The apple is cut in half after a cry of pain! The single seed is exposed! Food!

Her head rolls out, thuds against the ground and rolls a little ways. Plant the seed and make a new apple tree! A new apple! A new tree! A new apple! A perfect seed!

Inhale. Exhale. Inhale. Exhale. But seeds don't breathe. Seeds don't live. Seeds are seeds.

//He carefully picks up the seed, digs a hole, and places the seed in it

You remind me of my sister… I’m sure your Gregor was the same. He wouldn’t want to see you like this, distorted by guilt. So c’mon, come back to your senses.

Pierrot carefully shifts, placing his weapon down to his side and helping Gregor plant the seed he had managed to take from Yuri's distortion.

"She kinda reminds me of an employee I worked with for a while. They tried so hard to be the best they could when they worked. Tried so hard to be perfect." A moment, with him pondering and something akin to guilt appeared to cross his features before it vanished as he began speaking softly. "But sometimes all it takes is to remember you aren't alone in your burdens. That others are willing to help push you to be better. How perfection isn't possible but it's possible to be the best version of yourself."

"... before she died in my world... I called her something else. Not "my little flower" as I do now but..." "I called her "my little apple". Because of her hair and how sweet she is. Now... Now that feels like a bitter name on my tongue."

The seed exhales. Inhales. Exhales. Every single breath is audible. Her single visible eye has no light in it - not that there was any even before this mess.

She is a disaster.

Perhaps it's time to call the Manager to rewind. She doesn't want it, but that's what will happen. She just wants to leave...

She has half a mind to attack Gregor, but what would that do? She's going to die alone. She's going to die and that's what she wanted.

But so what? Even if it is wrong, we've got to keep living.

"No. No no no no. W-We're not going to leave you. Why would we leave you?" "To hell if it's 'wrong', you don't deserve to die like this!" He gestures to her form, a forced smile on his lips. "Even if you can be brought back, this is still a bad way to go!"

"I'll kill you," she mutters. Another exhale. "I'll kill you if you're here."

"Please," she adds after a moment, her breath stuttering. "It's what they would have wanted. A piece of me... for your peace..?"

...I'm not your Gregor, Yuri. I shouldn't be here. But I couldn't kill you - what was left of you - back then. And I don't think I can now. There's nothing wrong with surviving. It's just... what we have to do.

A moment, before he spoke firmly and in a commanding manner.

"Because you have something else now. You have the other Sinners by your side. You have people who care about you."

"They would hurt. They would mourn." "In my world, and likely Gregor's, when you died we mourned you for a very long time. And that wound still hadn't fully and truly healed. Do you think you vanishing wouldn't do the same to your friends?"

"Besides. Dying is just running from your problems, leaving them unsolved. Do you really want that?"

"They hate me. Marie hates me. All of them will learn what I've done and hate me."

"The only problem is myself."

It coughs, lids fluttering.

"Haaah... It hurts..."

A moment passes, with him staying silent before sitting down fully. A hand goes through his hair, messing up the ponytail he has.

"Hah... How pathetic of me... Trying to save someone when I don't even have the answers."

"Just save yourself," it mutters. Who knows what is going on below the soil the seed is planted in? "Not worth..."

A cough again. It doesn't know what else to say besides more depressive filler. It hurts. Death always hurts, but this one hurts the most.

Did Gregor feel like this when it was his head? Oh, how funny, they're matching. Matching in the way they died.

His glasses are still in her pocket, but she doesn't know where her body is anymore. And his mask needs to be cleaned every day, but it's going to collect dust without her.

She coughs again, her eyes drooping. He deserves much more than her. He deserves a clean memorial, a tidy room where his belongings lay in. He deserves everything that she has...

But he has everything she has. In front of her is living proof that he has everything she has. This job instead of nothing, this uniform instead of his dirty clothes, this life. But he's still unhappy.

...Is he unhappy? He doesn't look happy. Do happy people look like that?

//He isn’t happy, but he doesn’t weep. Instead, he just sits there, defeatedly smoking a cigarette.

It hurts just like before.

He carefully took a cigarette as well, moving to light it himself and allow the smoke to fill his lungs. It feels better then that bitter truth.

A hand comes to place itself upon Yuri's head, offering a soft comfort. At least she isn't dying alone, even if not in the manner she thought.

It feels like his heart is being rotten out like a rotten apple.

"It's a bitter truth, no? To see him in your shoes and yet seeing how unhappy he is still?"

A pause. An exhale. It's difficult.

"I'm scared now," she admits.

"It's okay to be scared like this. We'll be by your either way." "What did you think would happen?" Was asked, voice soft as he tried to help comfort the poor girl during this. "The good thought you had. What was it?"

She gasps for air.

"Someone needs to clean the mask... and water the flowers... And who will do Yuziki's hair...?"

They’ll do it… your colleagues care about you. They’ll help you out.

"Because they're the ones who will keep pushing for you. So... Wouldn't it make sense to keep pushing for them in turn?"

He carefully puts out the cigarette in his mouth, carefully brushing the familiar red hair from her face.

She breathes.

"I don't want to die," she admits, finally. The warmth of another is all she needed, maybe, for some clarity. "I'm afraid of dying. I don't want... I don't..."

"Please," she begs. "Don't want to die."

Then... Hold on a little longer, yeah? Your Manager Bud should be coming to rewind you.

"Thankfully she is. Hopefully with all the Mirror Worlds overlapping the deal Dante made with the sinners overlap as well."

their flames rising in their anxiety, dante went ahead and rewinded, hoping to save Yuri.
