The inn’s door was flung open, revealing a monster in the door. A colossal lion’s head, perhaps from a chimera, took up the door in fearsome detail as it was outlined by shadows and light. Then the head was casually flung aside, landing limp and free of its owner as the stallion who had taken said head walked in. Haycules entered through the threshold, rubbing his right front hoof as if it had taken some sort of hefty blow.
“Can I get a drink for the head?” he asked, shaking his hoof off and holding up the disembodied head as an offering. “Oh, and make sure that all the parents know that the chimera is dead. It won’t take anymore foals” the hero said, a firm look on his face as he sat himself down without waiting for further answer.
The day had been fairly slow for Golden Lantern in the Gilded Leaf Inn. That is, until the door to her establishment was thrown open by what appeared to be a monstrous creature. Wings flaring she skittered back from the table she had been wiping down, a sound of alarm coming from her before the creature revealed itself to in fact, be an adventurer.Â
“Goodness, sir. You startled me!” she exclaimed, although her ears pricked forward at the request for a drink. “I don’t believe I have a need for the head of the creature... However deeds do garner rewards. Especially in my neck of these woods.” was her reply, as the stallion sat himself down.Â
“Hopefully, there won’t be another in the forest for some time with your actions.” she comments, trotting to pour a cider for the stallion. “Last time there was a chimera sighting there was a small influx of hatchlings that had to be either relocated to the Badlands or... Meet the same fate as the parents.”
Returning to the table with a large cider in wing, she sets it down for the hero and asks, “Anything aside from a drink I can get you?”
