"Happy birthday! I didn’t have much money left so I couldn’t buy you anything, sorry. But I had paint, so I painted this for you! And then I still had some blue paint to spare, so I made you a keychain too! It’s not much, but I hope you like it. Have a nice day!"

Huh? You painted this? Really really? I can't even draw a straight line...This is amazing, me!! I don't mind that you couldn't buy anything cause I bet whatever you got probably made Lan super happy! Ahh, it's so cool you can make things like this! Thanks so much! Ehehe, you have a great birthday too!

Hub was still feeling uneasy, but at least it was just, you know,  himself

"hey, you know I would’ve done the same thing!" He giggled slightly at his own joke

"what are you going to want your birthday? wait, I already know it’s the same thing I want!"

Even with the huge pain in his chest, these incredibly silly jokes allowed Hub to forget it for the moment. But just by looking at the sweat dropping off his face you could really tell how he felt.

"Hehe I know." Saito smiled a little.

"If you know that much, then you also know what I plan to give to Netto. Shh don’t tell him though, it’s a secret between you and me. Pff." He winked and laughed. But even if they are the same person, what they wanted could be different. This other Saito already had a PET for example, and Saito would love to have a NetNavi of his own. Or that really cool set of pencils he saw the other day…He let out a dreamy sigh. Someday.

Saito took a handkerchief out of his pocket and wiped some sweat from the other’s face. “The ambulance will be here soon. Hang in there just a bit longer.”

"Hey if you know me, I already spent most of my allowance on it, heh" Ahh, if I want to give myself, no, Saito something too I should ask for an advancement on it

That's right, just a bit longer buddy! You can tough it out!

"Hey, I'm gonna rest my eyes so don't freak out okay?"

Hopefully I'm not the hospital  too long, it's gonna suck if I'm not there my birthday!

Hub sighed in relief thank goodness. It’s not a kidnapper but- myself? At least I can trust him, if you couldn’t trust yourself how the heck can you trust somebody else? Dang, this is just boggling my mind!!

He began to sign but- That’s right- he doesn’t understand like everyone else does at home.

"like I- you? siad this is jsut too frejky"

Everyday I meet my twin but not everyday I meet myself!

"Relax", that’s right, you need to breathe Hub, breathe

"Indeed it is." He sighed. “Life is really unpredictable sometimes.”

Saito had managed to calm himself by now. It was still odd talking with “himself” in person, but there was no reason to panic or get anxious. It was going to be okay. But how would he explain this situation to Netto later? ‘Hey guess what, I met myself today and I had to take him to the hospital, funny how life works huh? How was school?’ Netto would have an incredulous expression, for sure.

"Ah also…" He looked at the other with an apologetic face."Sorry if I got angry at you before. I really thought you were Netto at first."

"and my family emblem on my PET" And he- he’s got it right there on his shirt- I don’t understand this at all-

Hub signed the large building that he desperately needed to go to

"…Point proven." He said as he stared at the ID on the PET. No doubt about it. But it was still hard to believe. How could this person be, well, Saito too? It was all too confusing and he couldn’t really understand how this was possible.

He paid attention the the signs the other was making and somehow managed to guess what the other needed. By the way he looked he could already tell he wasn’t alright anyways.

"You need to go to the hospital, right?" He pulled out his communicating device from his pocket and dialed the first number on the list. They picked up almost immediately. Saito talked as calmly as he could. “It’s Saito. Come as quickly as you can, please.” After that he hung up."An ambulance is coming this way." He put the device back on his pocket and looked back at the other, his expression softening a little. “Relax.”

Hub looked down at his PET Damn, Quint’s not here either! That’s right, Lan said he was going to the arcade…

Hub, now hearing what Saito had just said stared at him as if he’s seen a Spooky

"How come you keep saying exactly what I’m going to say? How do you just always know? All of this- it just keeps going in circles!"

If he wanted something couldn’t he have gotten it by now? Money, battle chips, information,me, but why- why would he keep acting like this-does he actually even want anything-

Hubs vision started to blur Not now, not now! Lan’s not here to protect me so I’ve gotta, I’ve gotta do this by myself! I’ll get to the bottom of this for sure!

Saito took a couple of deep breaths. Don’t panic. Calm down. Even if he told himself that, he couldn’t stop himself from trembling.

"We are not getting anywhere this way." He made a pause and sighed. “I don’t understand anything. It’s like you are reading my mind. And that’s frightening.”

The other looked powerless. He couldn’t hurt him. But knowing this didn’t change the fact that Saito was scared. Why did he look like him? Why were their thoughts so alike? Was this person an impostor? What did he want from him? Saito realized his breathing had quickened. He was getting anxious.

"C-Can you prove to me that you are who you say you are?" He gulped. “Can you prove you are ‘Saito’ too?”

"I have an ID on my PET if it gets lost" After typing so, he pulled it up in all of its glory

As Saito was suspecting his “brother” Hub was doing the same

Lan, but aren’t you usually a lot more worried than this? Sure, if this was truly Lan we’d be going to the same house we both know but -oh no - what if this isn’t- I couldn’t be getting kidnapped could I? This is looking like the right direction, so we’ll see how this goes…

Saito sighed as he thought the situation over. Considering the facts…the person who he was taking to his house wasn’t Netto. He was almost a hundred percent sure about that now. But if he isn’t his brother…then who is it? An imposter? What was his objective? Why did this person look so similar to him? A lot of questions flew through his mind. He’d probably discover his identity soon.

A few steps more and they were in front of the house. Saito opened the door and got inside, pulling the other along. The house was silent, seemingly empty. “Mom must’ve gone shopping…”

Right house, so, then it has to be Lan, unless - a stalker? Oh gosh I didn’t learn about this in school! This is still stranger danger isn’t it?But the stranger is  in my house, bro, where are you when I really need you? Please, someone!

Hub was holding on to the wall in one hand, PET in other

"Who are you really? You keep saying you’re Hub but I know that I’m Hub!"

Saito turned around, his expression serious. “I could ask you the same. I am Saito, I am sure of that.”He took a step forward towards the other, his body trembling slightly.

"You look almost exactly like me. Why? Who exactly are you? What are you trying to accomplish by looking like me?"

Unfortunately he didn’t know how to read sign language. He looked puzzled. ”I don’t understand. But you don’t seem alright. Let’s go home.” Saito grabbed his brothers(?) hand. "We’ll take care of that other matter later and I expect and explanation."

At least, with Lan here, no matter how annoying his is, he’ll help me make it through

But dangit— I really wanted to go to school tomorrow and this had to happen!!

Saito was starting to suspect something was wrong with Netto. No, not just that; he couldn’t talk and even he wouldn’t keep a prank this long knowing Saito would get angry. Meaning something else was going on. But he would find out later. For now It was more important going home.

He pulled the other in the direction of the house. “Come on. It’ll be okay.”
