“Whew!” Pearl set the last bag on the Warp Pad. It was a couple dozen miles from their vacation resort, but it was faster than traveling nearly halfway across the country. Pearl placed her hands on her hips as she inspected their haul. “That seems to be everything.”

Garnet came to stand next to her. “Ready to go?”

Pearl looked back at the way they came. She could just barely make out the tallest parts of the resort’s roofs past the trees. She thought about the memories they’d made in their short time there. Laughter and love had been their companions since they arrived, a peace unlike any they had known settling within them. Their cocoon had held fast, shielding them from any strange looks or hushed conversations that followed them. The only thing that had mattered were Pearl and Garnet, and their love for each other. It had been paradise.

Garnet wrapped an arm around Pearl’s waist. “I’m going to miss this.”

Pearl nodded, wiping a small tear from her eye. “Me too.”

Garnet smiled softly. “But I’ve missed our home even more.”

Pearl returned Garnet’s grin with an even wider one. “Me too.”

“I’m ready when you are.” Garnet laid a gentle kiss on Pearl’s namesake, taking Pearl’s hand in her own and squeezing lightly.

“Let’s go.” The world disappeared in a flash of light, Garnet and Pearl enjoying their last few moments of peace.

Peace that was immediately shattered as soon as they reached Steven’s room.

“Hey! We said no headshots!”

“I wasn’t aiming for your head!”

“To be fair, Peridot’s aim is pretty bad.”

“Lapis!”

“Bismuth! Peridot hit me in the head!”

“Alright, Peridot, that’s your second foul. Watch yourself.”

“Rrrrgh!”

“You ready Amethyst and Stevonnie? Okay, when I blow the whistle the Ultimate Slime Dodgeball Battle will continue.”

“Oh, no it won’t!”

“Pearl?! Garnet?! Uh, I promise we were planning to have it all cleaned up before you got back!”

Did you make any friends during your vacation?

“We did, actually. We’ve met a very lovely couple who are here with their friends.”

“Pearl,” Garnet chided, a tiny smile on her face. “They told us they weren’t a couple.”

Pearl chuckled. “Oh, that’s right, they said they were ‘only friends’,” she said, bringing her hands up to do air quotes.

They shared a quiet laugh for a moment. “Y’know,” Garnet said, “They remind me of us about one thousand years ago.”

“How so? Is it the blushing every time they so much as brush hands? Or perhaps the way their friends tease them? Oh, I know, it’s how they stutter around in each other.”

“Those are all good examples, but no.” Garnet laced her hands with Pearl’s. “It’s how they look at each other with so much longing. But so much hesitation.” Garnet raised Pearl’s hand, laying a lingering kiss on the knuckles. “So fearful that any change could ruin their friendship, yet unable to deny their own desires. They’re stuck. Just like we were.”

“Maybe…we could help them get unstuck.”

Garnet grinned. “I think we could.”

Are you and Pearl buying any thing to remember your vacation by, or to take Steven and Amethyst

Pearl held up a keychain. “We got this for Steven to go on his car keys!”

Garnet held up a large black bag. “And this bag of garbage for Amethyst’s room.”

Pearl hefted a duffle bag that was stuffed, the zipper barely staying closed. “And all of these t-shirts for the Gems in Little Homeworld and Connie!”

“We couldn’t find the right sizes for everyone, so some of them will get these instead.” Garnet held a hula girl bobble in her hand, chuckling as it danced.

Pearl, have you taken any pictures while on vacation?

“Oh absolutely!” Pearl unlocked her phone, thumbing through the pictures in her archive.

Garnet chuckled, looking over Pearl’s shoulder. “Our vacation here will be very well documented.”

I hear scuba diving's pretty fun! Maybe you could try that?

“We actually did try that.” Pearl blushed, bringing a hand up to her chin. “We just didn’t realize you can only do it in the ocean.”

Garnet folded her arms. “The security at the aquarium were not happy with us.”

Is anyone else coming with you two?

“We considered it, but,” Pearl glanced away, rubbing the back of her head. “We decided that we were long overdue for some,” she cleared her throat slightly, a light blush forming on her face, “alone time.”

“We’ve been video chatting with Steven and Amethyst every night. They’re glad we’re having a good time.”

What about the hotel room? Do you have two beds... or only one? 👀

“Actually, when we got to the concierge desk, they told us there was a mix up and we actually did end up in a room with two beds,” Pearl said. “We tried to ask for a different room, but there weren’t any available.”

Garnet draped her arm across Pearl’s shoulder. “So we had to improvise.”

Got anything romantic planned during this vacation?

Pearl chuckled. “Well, when you’re with a Gem like Garnet, everything is romantic. She doesn’t really need plans to be romantic.”

“True. But I know how much you appreciate a well executed plan.”

Pearl turned around, a hand coming up to cover her gasp when she saw her girlfriend. Garnet was smiling brightly, wearing a suit not unlike the one she wore at her wedding. “I’ve got a section of the beach set up with music.” She held out a hand towards Pearl. “That is, if you want to dance with me.”

Pearl uncovered her mouth, placing her hand in Garnet’s. “Of course I want to dance with you,” she said through a watery smile.

Have a nice vacation! Is Pearl looking forward to the planetarium thing?

“Oh, absolutely! Of course the equipment here isn’t quite as advanced as what was available on Homeworld, but the stars are beautiful no matter where you observe them from.”

“That’s true.” Garnet smiled softly. “But I’ve always thought they look more beautiful when you’re watching them with someone you love.”

Pearl blushed, unable to keep a bashful smile from her face. “Oh, you smooth talker.”

Is it a vacation or a honeymoon?

“A honey-? Oh, no, no, not at all!” Pearl waved her hand, a bright blush painting her face as she let out a strangled laugh. “We’d have to be married to have a honeymoon.”

“And we aren’t yet.”

“That’s right, we aren’t, uh,” Pearl froze, slowly turning towards Garnet. “Y-Yet?”

Garnet pulled her visor down slightly, winking with one eye.

Sooooo what swimsuits are you both packing? Can we see?

“Well, I hadn’t really planned on swimming-.” Pearl was cut off by a flash of light. When the light faded Garnet was standing in a swimsuit, a hand placed on her hip.

“So you aren’t coming to the pool with me?”

Pearl blushed. “Uh, I suppose I could, perhaps, come with you. For a moment.” Her body flashed briefly, leaving her in her own swimsuit.

Garnet held out her hand, smiling when Pearl took it. “C’mon. I want your thoughts on my canonball technique. Steven and Amerhyst say I’m getting better.”

Do you have any vacation outfits?

“Well, we were originally just going to come in our usual attire. But Steven said we needed to wear special vacation outfits.”

“So we changed,” Garnet said, the sun glinting off of her visor as she adjusted them.

Time for a little R&R

Pearl and Garnet are going on vacation! After all of the angst for the last event, they’re going to take some time for themselves to enjoy some sweet, fluffy goodness. They’ll be at a fancy resort doing all types of things. And not only will they be responding to your asks with words, there will also be pictures drawn by the wonderful @808lhr! She’ll be paring with us this week to help with the event. We hope you guys enjoy and have fun with our ladies while they’re on vacation!
