1: Vampires are usually active at night, sometimes automatically passing out at sunrise, so they wouldn’t be used to the sun.

2: Vampires have pale skin, of course they’d burn easily.

3: There is a gigantic hole in the ozone layer that makes the sun more powerful.

That is why, to vampires, the sun is a deadly laser.

Sometimes in vampire stories, the bitten victim will instantly become a vampire. What if this isn’t from the bite itself, but rather a fatal allergic reaction? If you can be allergic to mosquito venom, then surely you can be allergic to vampire bites, right? And since they’ve been marked, it doesn’t take long for them to come back as fellow members of the undead.
